Perhaps I am mistaken and anyone else who yhunjs differently can chime in.. But I see the retrograde movement of a planet as a "double check".Tp me its like when you take out your cookies in the oven and then realise that they are not done. Then putting them back in again until they are.
There is a " thoroughness " to a retrograde transit. Usually to ensure that the energy has seeped into the house and planet that it is in aspect to.
With Venus, it could suggest having to deal with issues that may still be unresolved in the area of life that Venus rules(more especially since it all be in its "hometown" of Libra).
So I would (in addition to the aspect to the Sun), look at the house where Venus is the ruler to assess how that area of life may be affected.
A return of an ex in your life may be probable if you haven't made peace with the breakup or else have not fully recovered from them.
