My mom is controlling, boring, and very cheap. She values intellectual status so much, she looks down on anyone who didn't go to university. Yet, I personally think she is very ignorant and close-minded. She always wanted me to be in the honour roll, almost sent me to a mandarin boarding school at age 3, and never let me do anything I want. As a child, I thought it was okay and that's just how things were, until I reached puberty. I started to rebel, not giving two sh*ts about what she wants and her opinions. My dad would send money to pay for my music lessons, and then she would cancel the whole thing after a month or two. Her reasoning is that she wants me to focus on my academics. In reality, I wasn't even doing bad in school. I was always in the honour roll until the last few years of high school. She never let me do anything fun like hang out with my friends, go to prom, or go to NYC to compete in the choir competition I was in at school. Her excuse was always because it was too expensive. If it weren't for my friends or my teachers, I wouldn't have experienced prom. She would pay for my sister's stuff, go to her games, and do her homework for her. Yet, she won't even let me hang out with my friends. My 18 birthday, she did nothing but buy me a secondhand cellphone, which she cut off the service to after a few months. My friends, at least, threw me a small intimate surprise party. We're not even poor, that's the thing.

I never got along with her, now that I think about it. Some people have worse mothers, I know. But she is just so horrible. She doesn't even care when I'm sick. She'd force me to go to school even when I couldn't move. She has no maternal instincts, at all. And she wonders why I was always closer to my dad than to her. She'd forget to buy things for the house and I constantly have to remind her. Sometimes, we'd wait for her to come home with groceries and she'd still come home empty-handed. Then she'll give one of us money to go get groceries.

Just recently, my brother had been experiencing slight hair loss. I recommended to use this one product that works to prevent further hair loss, but then she told him not to. She insulted me by telling my brother not to believe the hairstylist because we don't know what we're doing. And she thinks she does, just because she used to be a pharmacist. What a total joke. She sounded so ignorant, I wanted to punch her in the face just for saying that.

She just completely irritates me and I don't want anything to do with her anymore. However, she is still my mom and I know I'll have to at least be civil one day with her.

I just don't know if there is hope.

I can see she has her moon in scorpio, which can be very hard for a person to have, on her NN. This usually shows up as a mother who has hard time connecting to motherhood in general. She also has Venus/Saturn conjunction, which can make a person appear cold because she would not express her tenderness and love, or simply wouldn't know how to show it. Saturn in Cancer in synastry for your moon can feel too harsh, cold and controlling, depending on your chart.

That aside I agree that Moon in Cancer IME can translate as the native feeling their mother was not nourishing enough strangely and the native not feeling emotionally attuned with the mother and accepted.

If I were to interpret Colorful Butterfly and the idea that our moons are what we are given to perhaps counteract/balance our mothers, my Cap Moon would fit. I am carving out a career for myself and I will never give up until I am on that effin mountain top! This is the exact opposite from my mother who just....gave up, and became dependant.

Yes, the chart above is my mom's natal. I am quite surprised to see how close-minded she is for a Gemini sun/mercury. She has gone through her Saturn return probably like twice now and still hasn't figured it out, what her Saturn meant to teach her. I also believe that Venus-Saturn conjunction is why she cannot let loose or have fun without judging herself or others for it. I seriously believe this is why I was born with Chiron in the 5th house.

And here's my natal chart. I would say my Moon is very well aspected, which is why I don't understand why I experienced her like this.

Well, she IS an Asian mom 😂😂 but I have met Asian moms that aren't like this.

I have Libra moon in my Moon persona chart. It's part of a grand trine, but I do notice that Sun square Moon thing going on in there.
