Reminder of the simple rules for Astrology 2.0 ...

quote:

All things Astrology; post all new Topics in this Forum, but no personal reading requests or personal chart postings are allowed

That is not to say you cannot give a link to your chart image elsewhere in case we need clarity in answering a question of principle or about some specific factor in your chart.

--->All threads with requests for personal readings with charts will be closed and transferred to Personal Readings.

--->All threads discussing relationship astrology will be closed and transferred to Interpersonal Astrology.

The Astrology sub-forum is for general astrology discussion. It has a variety of topics.

The Astrology For Beginners sub-forum is for those new to astrology and the most basic starting inquiries.

Please make use of these sub-forums rather than posting everything in here in Astrology 2.0 -- Thank you.

The rules are understood. But I don't think most people like posting in the listed sub-forums because they don't get responses as quickly.

For a long while due to its pace and dynamic nature, I thought this forum(Astrology 2.0) is the only forum that matters

I dont know if my post about pschycological problems should be in astrology2.0 , or in beginner forum.

i posted my charts in that thread because it was asked for. and it became personal.
but i did and do want it to be for all.

what are the limits for this? :P

... and it says under the "Astrology" sub forum that we shall not post new threads.

i will read more and see the pattern over the next week, how you have organized the forum <3

you can always go back into your posts and remove materials using the "edit" feature.

nice catch that you saw people are 'forbidden' from starting new topics in Astrology beginner's forum.

"accuracy" of information is NOT a high priority or valued at LL 'in general' -- (in case you're a beginner who is wanting to learn good astrology in earnest).

BASED on former years of conversation and resolutions here--
LL is ONLY to be "a social forum" for discussing various notions, topics around astrological words, ideas, and interests.
.. Gently, it is NOT meant to be an accurate "astrological teaching" place. That has been something I personally wrestle with here, since I am into the research.

A few years ago, we had a year-long battle with discussions about 'what' LL ultimately was FIRST considered to be.
.. We lost maybe a third of our members after that. A lot of quality talent left.

Sooo .. It's a great beginner's place to get comfortable using astrological words. And, there is NO guarantee that the information you receive or find here will be 'accurate' or true astrology according to competencies.

There are paid-forums outside of LL if you want actual accurate information by professionals in the field.

*~

LL 'hiccups' every once in a while--
materials edited-out re-appear

Some posts at time will completely disappear (for ~whatever reason). If you've written, or value what someone else wrote to you, then I would suggest printing it out for your own files?

*~
TIP on reducing space ---

You have the option of taking away the "[img]" code after your group of friends/people have made their own suggestions about your chart.

Delete the 's' from http for the url IF you desire. It will be clickable from LL.

Some people provide their own chart url,
or website urls--
in the 'signature' box,
simply check-it on/off,
when you create posts and submit.

*~
I own that it's "my fault" that some threads go into depth-conversations. I tend to go deep and into too much depth and detail. Take it as a sign and clue that 'I cared' about you, and what you wrote touched me in some way.

(humor) *ahem* In the future i'll try to stay fluffier, light, shallow and more entertaining with 'chit-chatty' posts????

(topic) 'Addams Family Values' Movie-- Wednesday Smiles (Christina Ricci) [1:12] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYEXQTrpRZc

thank you ami anne <3

and thank you for explaining mirage29 <3
I now understand why some posts in the beginning dissappeared :P
and great knowing how accurate you are, so I dont take all as "this is the answer".
but its good to have an open discussion.
personally i feel astrology is very open, and bendable. (if that is a english word)
I use it you work with myself, and it gives me hints on what to work on, and pinpoints me in different directions.

btw dear, i dont mind your depth.
and i was glad for all your help and questinons in my post.
also, you sharing <3
its nice connecting with you.
i am in a different state of mind today, and are going back to check if i have overshared the past days :P

I have been on and off in this sub-forum (the one i visit more) for years, but i remember times when i really got to read interesting threads. nowadays, i just look at the posts and frankly... it is lame. most of the questions are FREE READING requests. those which are not are FOR FUN social interactions with astrology gargon. so, I visit the site less often and participate with less interest than in the past.

there are still some people with some interesting insights, but... if i need to go over 500 threads to find one that is useful, i better buy a good book of astrology and read it, which is what I am doing. that is what forums like these are suppose to. people study, read, and come here to comment and expand and learn. but when people just learn few post from here and there and come to "discuss", there is such non-sense...

I am not a professional astrologer. i have never taken a systematic approach to learning astrology, so i am not excluding myself from the problem here, but hey... really "what is my ruling planet" type of question... that takes us to so many basics discussion here...

said that, this forum has a social feeling and many people visit for that reason. if you want to socialize, then, that is the forum.. if you want to get insights into your astrology journey.. hum.. probably, you better go to some books or maybe blogs (some are worse than this one)

from my side, i am in an age and circumstances, where i just want to continue my learning journey and this forum is not giving me what i need. i am not withdrawing totally, but i see this forum most suitable for teenagers who want to play astrology...

best wishes!

Its still fantastic to be here I think..I love all the new and old posts alike. And I like that everyone can be free here and not be too apologetic about not being that well read astrologically.

There is so much more insight I have gotten from "newbies " and other so-called "beginners" here lol. Clarity on something that I thought complex to figure out.

But its a fine balance : too many "experts" remove the fun part and make it more austere and serious.

Too many "newbies" or those who just want to have fun, can make the forum seem more like pop astrology. Not fun either.

I honestly don't like threads like "What aspects would cause a pimple to burst?".

But then again, perhaps my posts have others roll their eyes? One can never be sure

Yeah some of the forums on here are very outdated and haven't had people active on them in months/years. While I agree we should stick to a particular forum, I think it is unrealistic to say we should use all those little random sub-forums that clearly aren't going to get any replies from anyone in them. Most people don't even bother scrolling down through the sub-forum list, they just check the first 4 or 5 for topics.

I have always thought this site would've flourished better if the mods had stuck to just a few sub-forums of general topics people can post in, like how Elsa does on ElsaElsa site. I like going on her forums because they are simple but still many topics to discuss. I think the excess of sub-forums on here has caused much confusion and disarray. We should stick to replying in a thread that pertains to our topic but its hard to do that when a lot of the forum threads haven't seen the light of day in months/years...

I like that LL has subforums. I like the kind of atmospheres and intimacy this affords us.

You can choose among your various friend-cliques here. It promotes ways to go deeper into various interests. It supports social bonding.

Different 'atmospheres' are created on each floor of our mansion-home here!

I am GLAD we are not "like other
websites."

People can choose to go into slower subforums, that would overwhelm some. Some of the subforums are more "personal" and intimate.

Pace at some of the other forums go at lightning speeds!! LOL

TEEN Subforum

I would love to see some of the more-advanced astrologer teens here take Leadership there. Start some Quality discussions. (You are not babies!!! LOL)

There have been articles in the past year at Astrodienst that talk about generational developmental aspects {dealing with Mars and Mercury??? not sure}.

UK astrologer Alex Trenowith has published materials on the adolescent generational transits. Saturn and Jupiter.
.. Would be good to see topics and discussions started on personal experiences dealing with those.

The previous active members there have "aged-out" long ago. Randall is carrying the ball and talking to himself now, exclusively?? -- Help him out????

*~
I'll put another plug in for Yellow Wax sub forum. It's intimate, and a sanctuary for sharing Creative personal work. We have had a very supportive atmosphere.

The moderator there also mods at Astral Realms. If you have dreams when you go to sleep at night, and want to discuss the possible meanings of the content of your subconscious and unconscious creative realms, then you are welcome to share your interesting content there.
~

Asteroids Rock!!!!
We have different contributors, with varied points of view. I invite you to creatively explore name asteroids. If you're good at "puns" and word-pivots, then you have what it takes to explore this amazing synchronous side-dimension of astrology.

Divine Diversities.. for the more philosophically minded, especially in regards to 9th House topics, belief systems of all kinds.

Just because a subforum is not as 'active' with quantity of visitors, I can speak for the Quality of indepth-discussions surrounding topics that would be easily glossed over and lost in some of the busier and more-active places.

*~ Personal Readings subforum.
It's not as active for astrology as it is for oracle and divination, although there seem to be some very good astrologers hidden in the lot?! But the 'focus' there is more on divination.
-- I am not as familiar with the other oracle-oriented sites at LL.. but maybe they need to introduce themselves, and leave links TO ongoing conversations in those places.

*~
When I first came to LL, I was stiff and very very shy to move-away from the one thread I devoted my attention to.

When LL Jovian started leaving 'breadcrumbs' {links} to other discussions around LL, it lead me to discover the "other rooms" of information here. Slowly slowly slowly, I got to know the various LL-posters, and which forums discussed topics of interest comfortable to me.

I am grateful to her, for her friendship, and I miss her presence.

I see us having subforum-structural bones as being a strength here.

*~
NS!!! { }
There was a saying here long ago-- that you need to get to know the various posters at LL first, before understanding the kinds of relationships that are older and already-established here. .
.. It takes a little time.
I'm glad that you read those astrology books, and personally will look forward to what you have to share in the future.

*Heart*

Maybe other people here who are more prominent, active, and familiar with other subforums (especially the 'slower' ones) can describe their experience in that forum?

That's not what I was trying to say Mirage. I was just saying it's fine to have sub-forums, just maybe to a minimum like ElsaElsa. There's way too many on here and some are a bit repetitive or have lack of user interest, which leads to them being highly inactive as most visitors and long-terms will just visit the first 5 or 6 that's on the forum list. And when they are inactive they tell them to post into a higher traffic sub-forum to get replies. But then if they do that they might tell them to move back to keep their topic matching with the forum lol. That's all I was saying.

Capricorncheriscty. Gently, I 'do' understand what you're saying. Yes, it can be quite frustrating.

Maybe you'll help shape and fill-out some of our subforums? Some of them need a boost. Content-providers.

The subforums should be allowing for a deeper dive into some topics.

They are Opportunities.

Maybe like some have been doing--
a poster can "announce" a subtopic in the 'busier' forums, with a link to their discussion thread in smaller forum?

This site is dedicated to Linda Goodman, and there are Forums to reflect that. No one is asking anyone to post in one of those with their Astrology question. If we allowed every question in this Forum, it would be overrun with reading requests (which was a huge complaint we had here), among other things, and that would defeat the point. If your question is about Vedic, most people in this Forum are not interested, because this is a Forum where Western Astrology is the predominant thought. If your question is about Asteroids, that is a niche that most Astrologers don't even acknowledge. If your question is about synastry, your thread would get buried in this Forum quite fast. The scrolling isn't far with our Astrology themed Forums, which is why they are all near the top. People click on this Forum to read about Astrology. Aside from possibly synastry, it makes no sense for the other topics I mentioned to be lumped into this Forum. People used to even complain about having the "Guess my/his/her Sign" threads here. Granted, Astrology For beginners gets little traffic, so I often tell people to post their question here also. The caveat is that I do encourage Asteroid synastry questions in Interpersonal Astrology.

Astrology For Beginners was created, because people were complaining about simple questions flooding this Forum. We don't have that issue now, as things evolve and change over time. The same goes for people asking for reading requests. In fact, Personal Readings was created just to get those types of threads off of Astrology 2.0, because they were flooding us here, but it grew into an active exchange Forum, which is a very positive energy now. Basically, if your question is based on Astrology and not about synastry, Vedic, Horary, or Asteroids (or requesting a chart interpretation), it can go here. You can talk about your chart or parts of it and its aspects all you want here. Or post a link to it for clarification, as Kannon has stated. Just don't post a chart and ask for a reading.

The less active Forums reflect our Mission to honor Linda Goodman. They aren't going anywhere and are here to stay. But threads aren't being moved from here to one of them. The first several on top are based on Astrology. What's the issue? From what I can see, the only problem is threads being moved to Interpersonal Astrology, but that Forum is booming.
