Aqua Venus with a Taurus Mars alone, without one or the other having something each has, it could be difficult to see eye to eye.

A Taurus Mars and a Taurus Venus will naturally like each other and get on well. However, the Aqua in the mix, even though Taurus and Aquarius might seem like they really can't get along, they do have a lot to teach each other, regarding their different values, as long as there is mutual respect and love.

I've been told that I'd need an earth-earth or earth-water combo for my partner's Mars and Venus. It makes sense, as my longest relationships were with those who had a water Mars and water Venus.

But with the square, and not knowing the rest of your chart... it's hard to say. I have Mars in Taurus, a couple of exes have had Venus in Capricorn (conjunct mine) and more often planets in the 2nd. I also have Mars square Sun-Jupiter so a Venus in Taurus is a friend vibe for me (+ my Dad and brother in law) It's a beautiful Venus sign - check out my new article (link below) if you want to know more about it.

Don't look for anything specific though, follow your gut where it comes to meeting somebody. Soulmates do actually resonate on a soul level and it's a much more vivid vibration than astrological compatibility.

By this I mean, I have met people with great compatibility and no attraction, and those with attraction but difficult aspects because they come into my life to work out karma. As for true love, I've found that with unexpected planet placements and complimentary abilities. We fit. The more I understand his chart the more evident that is, but it's the sum of his natal chart that illustrates the 'fit', not simply the planets in the signs.

I agree with you that being definitive isn't the way to go, but I was hoping to find some mutual ground between this and following my gut.

I'm sure many will agree but, in my experience, following my gut alone has led to mixed results - so much that I'm finding it difficult to trust people or situations (more so in the romantic aspect). So, as a result, I was hoping to rely on both my gut AND specific astrological aspects.

No problem, I completely understand about losing trust etc. too. I guess the way I used to look at it was to reflect upon what I'd learned and how much each person I meet helps me to learn about myself, in reflection, in how I behave and grow from them.

It takes a while to clear out past pain, and obviously we retain some scars but if you do regular meditations on clearing old pains and connections. Cutting cords - including cords of those who had/have feelings for you which aren't reciproated! - then you can free your soul.

The truth is, in order to meet the right person you need to BE the right person and shining out your own vibration at the highest level. Astrology is earth bound, soul connections have another spectrum which is indefinable but has it's own level.

True love is a form of high level, energetic communication! ;-)

I mean, whatever's required to make that drastic change is a constant struggle (more so due to both the external and internal variables involved). I guess it ultimately sounds too Hollywood-esque for my liking...
