...and according to this news mag that did an interview with Jen Garner, she said quote "when his sun shines on you, you feel it but when the sun is shining elsewhere, it's cold".

THAT right there went straight to the core of me because I am exactly like that!! My sun can light up the universe and I'll be the most popular person of the party; smiling and entertaining. And then it all becomes dark and very, very cold and people around me becomes very uncomfortable, wanting that sun back.

I went to have a look-see at his chart and he's a, assuming chart is correct:

Leo Sun + Mercury 2H ( I guessed this prior to looking)
Scorpio Moon 5H
Cancer Asc + Cancer Venus
Pisces MC
Virgo Mars 3H

What stands out to me the most is that Scorpio Moon 5H. I feel this to be a difficult position, especially being a Leo Sun.

Our charts are actually somewhat similar in a way with me being:

Cancer Sun, Venus, Mercury 11H
Cap Moon 5H sq Pluto
Virgo Mars
Leo Asc

Personally, I have always had problems with people wanting me to "shine" on them and it weighs me down so much :-/ To constantly feel the pressure of hearing "keep smiling...why aren't you smiling....why aren't you happy....you look sad....be happiER....be friendliER...when you smile I am happy...." and after failing to measure up to those wants and needs of others, all you see is disappoinment and bewilderment in their eyes and it just becomes dark and cold.

This is his chart anyway:

And for those that don't know: Ben has been struggling with alcohol for a long time, as have I (sober for almost 4 years on the date).

I actually think that with both of you , its more the Moon in 5th that is the "shine on me" etc.

Moon in 5th takes on the qualities of Leo i.e playful, fun loving, optimistic and positive.

But you have Moon square Pluto. So that means that there is extreme feelings. When you are up. My goodness! You are up.

But when you are down. Heaven help us.

And Ben has a square with Mercury. So that explains the attraction to his wife's Gemini Moon (that was for me. I have always been baffled by that).

The square of Mercury to his Moon in 5th makes Ben susceptible to chronic thoughts that change his outlook. And then change his moods.

The square from Mercury borrows the Gemini changeability in his nature. His mood can be changed due to thought patterns (as said).

But with Mercury in "my thoughts are mine and I will remain attached 2nd house", there is difficulty in removing him from this loop of emotions/thoughts attachment. Even when those thoughts do not serve him.

Yup, learning new things as always with your posts! <3

That mercury moon thing you talk about, would you say it would have negative effects on the mood even if its a trine between them? Merc Leo, fixed sign. So maybe, even if its a trine, since Leo is fixed the negative thoughts(emotions) would be hard to put aside when they have came upon you?

God, I hate people like that who say things like that. Sure sometimes they mean well, but you just KNOW they're more often than not fair weather friends :P

I get it myself, especially from Jupiterian types.

I hate it! It makes me clam up and become very stand-offish. I get it sometimes though! Some people want a fix-me up moment but when complete strangers walk up to me while sipping coffee in peace? That’s just plain rude and quite frankly, socially uneducated IMO.

Question is: let’s say some of us are like this. Sun up and sun down and “near and dear” start to complain. Is this a sign that it’s maybe time to try and fix oneself (if possible) or change the near and dear?

The trine makes it work seamlessly. Contrary to popular belief, trines are not always "positive". It depends on the planets involved. But they usually work " with" the individual and not "against" them. Even in challenging planetary combinations.

Mercury is a changeable planet and so its attachment to the Moon would influence moods. It matters not what the aspect is.

The difference however is that with sextiles /trines, the mood swings are " owned" by the individual concerned. They easily express dissatisfaction and unhappiness. Let their feelings out and are not ashamed of them.

The square/opposition on the other hand, feels uncomfortable. The individual dissociates the thoughts with the feelings. The result being denial. And shame.

So in Ben's case, the denial could be suppression. Which leads to rapid and heavy mood swings and when people ask "what's wrong?". His answer usually is "everything's fine". Even when others can visibly see that he is not.

Suffice it to say. I would prefer the trine moodiness to the square.

When it comes to matters like this, I'm happy I have virgo rising and strong pluto and saturn. I often am reserved and can be seen as cold. People get a nice surprise instead when I let my aries stellium come out to play haha. People often understand from the get go, that I will be cold vs warm when I feel like it. I would really hate if someone expected me to warm n happy all the time.

So I really feel for you Leos <3

It really depends, honestly. I mean we all have our ups and downs, we all even get depressed and/or sad and/or moody at times. Sometimes we just need to be allowed to feel what we feel. So I guess if a person CANNOT accept us when we're down, let us be, and remain friends, then perhaps that makes them an issue.

even when we're depressed, seriously the very LAST thing you should do is try to make someone cheer up or demand they put a fake smile on.

("Make" as in "I don't accept you as a downer so you must feel good for me to feel good about me")

But where I think it depends is if however we are acting is becoming toxic or harmful/abusive to others and our self over long periods of time. Then perhaps we must take a look at our behavior.

Though it's tricky, because even people who seem super "happy" and overly "optimistic" alllll the time can eventually even become toxic, too, if they use their "happiness" as a form of running away from pain

I see.. Yes I undersand it better now, the planets involved matters. Also since mercury is like "quicksilver" and moon is very changable "moody" they sure would work "well" together so to speak.

Especially since we humans are affected by our moods, and our moods are affected by our thoughts, and thoughts by moods and, yeah never ending circle! Its like the "hen or the egg first?" dilemma.

Yes. Very much so.

I have the opposition of Mercury/Moon. Add to that Moon in 3rd.

Ben's depression could be compounded by the added effect of progressions & transits (understandably)

Ben also has Saturn in Gemini(Mercury ruled) and it squares the Mc/Ic axis i.e feeling isolated internally because people put a lot of pressure on you to be the "success".

Saturn sits in the 12th though and that suggests suffering in silence or hiding ones pain from others.

Ben may find it difficult to share his inner thoughts with anyone. But there is a buildup that needs release.

I really wish that he makes it through this trying period. I don't mind this Leo at all.

Yes! Leo is definitely Fire & Ice.

Heard similar things said about Bill Clinton, when he talks to you it give the feeling you're the only person in the room.

Don't know about feeling cold when Leos shine their light elsewhere, sounds clingy. However, when they ice you out, it gets cold in a tangible way.

Can this be any different from Leo moon.

My co worker, who has a leo moon, I don't sense the hot/cold from her but she sense from me. She asked why I became so serious the other day whenever I am quiet -- I was charging my energy.
It feels burdensome and like a puppet entertaining/pleasing others because i get asked plenty of times. My neutral face looks sad. :x

I have a 5h moon. I just want to say I do resonate how you feel Charlie. I always thought it was a quality of a Libra moon.
