Hello Everyone,

Happy New Year!

How are you all doing? I missed you guys. I hope everyone had a great holiday season. (I haven’t forgotten about you, Randall! 😊

I thought I’d take a breather and do my annual check for my solar return for 2019. Needless to say, it looks way better than last year. While I’m pleased with Asc being Leo, which is one of my favorite signs; and the fact it’s in the first house, I can assume that’s a good thing?! BUT...the only concern I have is the degree it’s in. It’s will be at 22’59. They say any sign or planet at 22 degrees is considered bad and should be avoided.

I’ve read on some sites it means something malicious and on some sites, it means absolutely nothing. Either way, I’m concerned, and feeling a bit uneasy, because I don’t think I can travel this year to avoid it. Last years solar return was congested with horrible degrees. And 2018 proved it. Can someone please shed some light on the 22nd degree? Is it something I need to avoid? Or something I shouldn’t worry about?

Thank you! ❤️

Hey there.

Well I have MC at 22 Degrees. I had no idea that it was a malefic degree

But then again, I never pay attention to such things a I always think that if my mind was to ingest all of that and internalize it, I would be frightened each time any of my planets progressed to the 22nd degree.

My advice. Don't sweat it. Isht happens every year. Its the good stuff behind the isht that makes it all worthwhile.

I never worry about solar return charts, because I don't even bother to use them. The only Asc, Midheaven, and houses that matter are those in your birth chart, and it is important to make sure they are accurate. (A solar return chart cannot be any more accurate than the birth chart anyway).

Instead, look at your ongoing transits to your birth positions. They are very informative and in operation at all times, and that includes in the declinations. Often transits of the outer planets, including Saturn, may go Rx out of orb at the moment of a solar return, thus not show up in that chart, but can come back into orb and be active for most of the year. True for Uranus, Neptune, Pluto. Typically for everyone there are 1-2 such major transits (or more) relevant to the next year of your life.

Then there is Jupiter, which can change position a lot quicker than those outer planets and can have important movements in longitude or declination that can only be tracked by paying attention to the transits in on a weekly to monthly basis. Solar return charts locked into a set of cusps and houses set for one day cannot take those movements into account.

People try to treat the solar return chart like it is the birth chart for your year. It is not. You have one birth chart, then continuation of perpetual movement of the planets from there, all of which interact with the energies of a correctly set birth chart.

Thank you! I had a couple of planets at 29 degrees for my 2018 return and a couple of not so expected changes happened. But I think my Progressed planets are working more in my favor these days.

Thank you! I’ll take this into consideration. Solar return charts are useful, but the downside of them is that there’s always an element of worry and drama. I don’t know why. Should I just stick to progressions and solar arcs instead?
