Let's talk about this! Is your chart ruler retrograde in your chart? Here's a list of chart rulers for reference!Chart Rulers in this case refer to the planet that rules your ASCENDANT/RISING sign. ARIES - Mars
TAURUS - Venus
GEMINI - Mercury
CANCER - Not Applicable, as Luminaries don't retrograde!
LEO - Not Applicable, as Luminaries don't retrograde!
VIRGO - Mercury (Alternative: Vesta)
LIBRA - Venus (Alternative: Pallas)
SCORPIO - Pluto (Alternative: Mars)
SAGITTARIUS - Jupiter (Alternative: Neptune)
CAPRICORN - Saturn (Alternative: Pluto)
AQUARIUS - Uranus (Alternative: Saturn)
PISCES - Neptune (Alternative: Jupiter) ** Alternatives are based (mostly) on my own observations, aside from Aquarius, Scorpio and Sagittarius. ** ___________ Example: My Chart is ruled by Mars! Yet my Mars is rx, right on the cusp of my 2nd/3rd house. I find that my outward expression and sense of person is more introverted, despite the natural confidence that seems to come from my actions. I also find my style of expression is a little choked off sometimes, and I pause to think before reacting (sometimes too much!). My rising sign is Capricorn and my chart ruler, Saturn is in Scorpio in the 10th house (I also have Pluto in Scorpio in the 10th house). People describe me as sweet, resourceful and responsible with a strong work ethic. I can work for days on the same project and not become bored or tired. IP: Logged |

My chart ruler based on this interpretation is mercury. While it's not retrograde, it's in the 12th along with venus and the sun and chiron. Everything else is retrograde. Mars, Saturn, Uranus, Jupiter, Neptune, and Pluto with the moon exactly conjunct it. Personally, every interpretation I've read about retrograde planets doesn't really fit me. I'm not a hermit but I do NEED to just be alone for a long time. I'm both an extrovert, and an introvert at the same time. I can see where having a personal planet being retrograde, especially the chart ruler, having more of an affect in their personality though. By aspects I'm Pluto dominant and I don't really see a difference with that being retrograde, even with it exactly conjunct my moon. I'm perplexed by the whole ascendant ruler theory being the chart ruler though. Maybe because mine is in the 12th it doesn't really stand out like the descriptions I've read?
