My natal chart on astro.com shows my rising sign as Gemini, but when I do a chart on other websites, I get rising in Taurus.

Puzzled, I then realised that astro.com auto-computes my time zone as 7hr30m east (but my time zone should be +8). Could this be the reason? When I manually changed my time zone to e08:00 I got Taurus rising just like what the other websites indicated. But astro.com says manual selection is not recommended.

So now I'm confused... am I a Taurus rising or Gemini rising??

It can be the reason.

Many countries changed timezone in the past. Maybe that happened where you're born. I would trust astro.com. Only in rare cases they have the wrong time.

Are you born in Singapore? You can find the timezone changes on Wikipedia: Click!

Yes, but astro.com still shows my time zone as 7h30m. Should I follow it, or +8?

I don't know when you're born. The time zone changed on 1st Jan 1982 from 7:30h to 8:00h.

Thanks 👍

So those born from 1982 should use +8?

Yes!

Trust astro.com. I am sure it will be +8h, if you change your DOB to 1982 or later.

Trust astro com.

Some of the other websites use the Equatorial Ascendant {calculations based on being born at the equator} rather than any latitude north or south of this.

Sorry. I have not fact-checked that?? but, as I have 'skimmed' through information where people had asked this same kind of question before (and I wasn't really letting the answer soak down in me), I think that 'this' was the answer?

Hope it is?
Try experimenting with adding choice of "topocentric" {checkbox, located under Zodiac section.. on the right side of astro com page;}

The 'other' guess, would be that they use Sidereal, rather than Tropical Zodiac?

My Ascendant is Sagittarius 11+.
My Equatorial Ascendant is Capricorn 2+

Astro.com tends to **** up time zones sometimes(cafe astrology is even worse), I just manually change it.

That depends on your actual personality, not on exactly what time zone was in use when you were born. Which do you actually fit (if either)?
