If a planet or point is within a few degrees of the next house, would it then be considered in the next house officially? I have read up on the opinions of various astrologers, with many seeming to consider the latter house. I almost always consider these placements in whatever houses they're located in, but am wondering if I should start referring to them in the next house? I prefer using the Placidus system, which holds a few of my placements near the cusp of the incoming house. My Sun is in the 3rd, but roughly a degree and a half before the IC/4th house, while my North Node is in the 9th, but 2 degrees before the MC/10th house. The thing is, I'd feel weird addressing them in the next house when my chart indicates otherwise, and can identify with both houses pretty well. My question is, if anyone has a planet/point a few degrees before the next house, do you normally refer to that planet/point in its actual placement, or rather, in the latter house? And why? Both houses count. My jupiter is at the end of 3rd conjuct ic,and my mercury and south node at the end of 5th.Id say the house in which the planet is ,always affects it,and also the next house if orb is too close.IP: Logged |

No. First ensure the Asc is as accurate as can be, then you'll know what house the planet is in for sure. A planet can be in a house, but conjunct or parallel the cusp of the next house. We don't say that planet is actually in the next house, but if it is really conjunct or parallel the cusp of the next house (within 1° or less), then it can have a close relationship with the activities of that house even if it is not in it. And yes, Placidus gives more accurate placements -- IF your Asc degree and minute of arc is tightly accurate. quote: ... Don't assume you can answer such questions until you have answered the question of how accurate your Asc is. And don't assume it is accurate as-is simply because it was cast using a time on an official record. ------------------ "Drift like a cloud and flow like water, seeing that all life is a magnificent illusion, a playing of energy, and there is absolutely nothing fundamentally to be afraid of." -- Alan Watts Soul Stars Astrology by The Declinations Guy Expert Rectification IP: Logged |

The time I was born was a little after 1 AM. I'm certain it is accurate because everything fits together perfectly. I've noticed very accurate results through aspects, transits and progressions. I know I'm an Aries Ascendant -- an early degree first decan with almost every characteristic. Definitely not a Pisces or Taurus Ascendant. And not only because it is the time on my official birth certificate, but because many people were there that night including my uncle who was paying extra attention and was a bit saddened that I was born an hour after his birthday. I never had doubts on the time. IP: Logged |

Having your Aries Rising in the Aries Decan ruled by Mars, do you identify with your Ascendant (and maybe even Mars Sign and house placement) the most out of all the placements in your natal chart? IP: Logged |

Surprisingly no, not really...at least compared to other placements. Despite my Mars also being in the 1st house, my Ascendant is the only fire sign placement in my chart besides Chiron in Leo. Plus, the aspects are nearly all squares (including with Sun and Venus) and I have a heavy Cancer conjunction with Sun, Venus, and the SN on the IC along with a few other water sign planets in their respective water houses. I naturally feel more in tune with the water placements in my chart, but I notice I have a very bold Arian presence that seems out of character to who I am internally. My Mars is still quite prominent in me, but since there are no negative aspects involved, the aggressive factor is much more subdued. It's in Taurus though, so that may have something to do with it also along with the heavy water in my chart that probably overpowers it to a degree. IP: Logged |
