I found this info on a Chinese astrology site and translated it below. Ignore the past life stuff if you don't believe it like me, but I included them to give a more complete interpretation.

The best placements for composite North Node are 4, 5, 7, 8, 10 as they really give the couple a shared purpose.

The worst placements are 6, 12 as these are heavily karmic so the relationship may not turn out well even if the couple managed to stay together. 11 is also bad because the couple involved may feel all lovey-dovey but realised that they don't suit each other and are better off as friends.

-----------------------------------------

1st House (SN in 7th):
Past life: You were partners who were too reliant on each other, cutting off the outside world.

This life: You need to learn to be independent and not rely too much on each other to meet your needs.

2nd House (SN in 8th):
Past life: Lovers who went through a dramatic love-hate relationship but failed to achieve shared values & security.

This life: You need to build security within your relationship and avoid being too possessive. You need to balance your emotional needs against outside influences.

3rd House (SN in 9th):
Past life: You were classmates/comrades/travel companions who explored life together and grew spiritually.

This life: Here to build a pure and close relationship akin to siblings. (sounds incestous if you're a romantic couple, lol )

4th House (SN in 10th):
Past life: You were too focused on ensuring that the other party was of help to your personal achievements, and failed to build relationship foundation & intimacy.

This life: To build a family-type of relationship encompassing trust & intimacy.

(If SN conjuncts MC, it shows a relationship that lacks foundation, thus the couple needs to build intimacy or risk the relationship coming to an end and if it happens, the couple needs to move on w/o ill feelings because this may likely occur.)

5th House (SN in 11th):
Past life: You used to be soul mates with great chemistry and similar pursuits. You were also very loyal to each other.

This life: You're here to experience a love relationship which will benefit you both greatly. As 5th house also rules children, the couple are also suited to have children together.

6th House (SN in 12th):
Past life: With SN in 12th, you will have a strange feeling that you have "unfinished business" although you may not actually have any karmic debts with each other.

This life: If you decide to enter into a relationship, you should actualise your feelings and give of your love freely instead of being stuck in a state of confusion.

7th House (SN in 1st):
Past life: You had a superficial relationship and both were too self-centred.

This life: Need to learn how to cooperate as partners, presenting a united front to the outside world. You will grow as a couple.

8th House (SN in 2nd):
Past life: You were too focused on material possessions and building a sense of security, lacking in the area of emotional intimacy and passion.

This life: You need to learn how to trust each other whole-heartedly and be willing to merge with the other completely - body & soul.

9th House (SN in 3rd):
Past life: Siblings in your past life or childhood friends so you had a family bond.

This life: As you've built a family bond in your past life, this life you'll feel extremely comfortable with each other from the get-go. Together, you may learn and grow in the areas of higher learning, philosophy, religion, spirituality.

10th House (SN in 4th):
Past life: Past life family members with a strong family bond.

This life: Just like NN in 9th, there exists a level of comfort between you from the get-go. Together, you need to grow as a couple. As to which area of growth, look to the house placement of your MC ruler.

(If NN conjuncts MC, it will give great desire to the couple to progress in the area indicated by the MC ruler.)

11th House (SN in 5th):
Past life: You were star-crossed lovers who couldn't be together.

This life: If your NN is in this placement, and your composite Moon also receives harsh aspect from Pluto, it will continue to create obstacles in your relationship (it may not even take off). You need to let nature take its own course... perhaps start off as friends first. You may also experience a relationship together and then retreat to being friends as it seems more suitable for you both.

12th House (SN in 6th):
Past life: Your relationship was ladened with heavy responsibilities and servitude.

This life: This is a difficult placement and both parties need to let nature take its own course. The best approach is to let your feelings guide you and the relationship. Do not let traditional/societal views restrict your relationship.

Thanks for the translation! My last relation was NN 11, and I can confirm the "past star-crossed lovers/ultimately better off as friends" meaning.

We started off instantly hot (SN 5), and many times I threw out offers and/or suggestions on how to change the tone of our relationship (11 - "friends", non-romantic), so the last sentence resonates too.

I've experienced 12th house NN. It was an unequal partnership in which I felt oppressed, used and abused.

My friend has 2 relationships with 6th house NN. Both were turbulent with her sacrificing a lot for the guy.

Interesting, my husband and I have composite 12th house NN in Capricorn.

Our composite NN is conjunct Sun and Saturn as well.

So far so good, lol...

I feel it could definitely be karmic, but not necessarily in a bad way.

This is Interpersonal Astrology. Moving it there.
