Venus/Saturn conjunct. I have no problem with gifts from people I know and trust.

However, I'm wary of any gifts or special favors from those, men and women, I don't know and/or trust as I feel it puts me in their debt somehow...and that they might use that to manipulate me or cause me other problems. I have been known to refuse such gifts and favors even when it was considered rude to do so.

I've been volunteering with the poor and homeless a lot recently (though I'm just now taking a long break from that and thinking of volunteering to help adult literacy classes instead) and when I gave out free stuff and services (beyond the obligations of my position), even if it was cheap, I'd always say something like, "Don't worry about paying me back" or something along those lines. That is, I absolve them of debt, thus taking away, I hope, any misgivings about taking anything from me.

I don't know, but I don't have Venus + Saturn interacting and have very little Saturn influence and I feel extremely uncomfortable about receiving gifts even from people I know very well...to the point where (I have been told) I seem rude because I just have no idea what to say and can't thank the person. I think it's because it makes me feel very embarrassed. I don't know why.
I really have no idea what in the birth chart could lead to this; it'd be nice if someone had another idea.
