Let’s say you have a trine that’s pretty close with someone but it’s out of sign ie. 28 degrees Aries trine 1degree Virgo. OR compatible signs that make no aspect ie. 2 degree Aries and 22 degrees Leo. Which would be the better case?

I would say aspects making an aspect out of sign would be better. With the aspect you are making a connection with someone, although, because it is out of sign, it might not play out the same way like an in sign aspect would.

In the case used, 2Aries and 22Leo both are on the Aries duad. They have a common personality trait in that both are self concerned and like to win. Will they get on?

This will depend on the two personalities concerned. They could compete against each other(seeing the other as a "threat" or in their "turf" etc) Aries is very competitive and something has to give

On the other hand, they could find the common approach they both have to life a big "turn on". Things could get very hot and heavy early on(Aries doesn't waste precious time) this especially if there are Aries placements in tge composite.

The one with Virgo/Virgo duad is likely not to be similar in approach as the Leo. They(Virgo) will be more cautious and less impromptu because they have Virgo duad as a sub-influence.

My guess is that this Virgo will gel better with a Leo cusp which 29 deg and is therefore born on the Cancer duad. Both will be cautious. Virgo however being more emotionally detached than the Leo cusp.

Now if we bring in Moon signs, ,the story of compatibility gets more complex. So for instance the Virgo has Leo Moon etc. than the Virgo is more self concerned. So they will find a rapport with the Leo 22 degrees.

But then again, there is likely to be tension as to whom will "serve" whom as both are influenced by Leo. So say if the Leo 22 has Moon in Pisces, this will be less of a problem as Pisces Moon are not interested in "leading" anything or anyone.

So this Leo 22 will just be interested in doing their own thing at their own time(Jupiter/Neptune influences the Moon in Pisces and tends to sponsor its natives to be more "open ended").

The Leo spoken of will not mind the Virgo taking the reins. But will mind when the Virgo restricts their ability to move around or do their own thing in a manner they choose etc.

Compatibility can get very complex. Very complex indeed(barring additional aspect from other planets to the Sun/Moon which further add dimensions to the character)

Plus there is composites between two people to consider which can make two people who are supposed to be "incompatible", involved in a very affectionate relationship.

In composite for instance, if Venus is conjunct Moon in Libra, The Aries 2/Leo 22 will get on better and compromise more. There will be shared co-operation etc.

If the Virgoand Leo 22 have Venus/Mars conjunct in Aries there is lots of fighting but also lots of physical sex. The two give as much as they get. Fight to make up etc.

Thank you all for your replies! Seems like the trine would be better by aspect as opposed to sign. Or like Aries23degrees said there seems to be more to it - Duads etc.

@MMarie

There is always nore. I cant hide behind the veil of pop astrology knowing what I know now as there are too many case studies where the "simple" Sun sign attraction/"compatibility" just doesn't pan out so neatly.

Ime two masculine Sun signs(regardless of aspect between them) tend to start off on a good foot. But it doesn't always equal romance. And if there is a square with Asc, things get even more complex.
