I see the Moon as receptive. And it represents our state of "getting" and being vulnerable to external influences for "good" or "ill"(this especially when in Cancer).
The Moon represents our propensity to suckle. A need to be on the "receiving" end of the Sun's(caregivers) rays of goodness. And represents the foetile or "infantile" state etc.
So essentially all relationships that are unequal and put us in a vulnerable "babylike" state i.e Parent and child, Boss and employee, marriage partners, experienced/Inexperienced etc. have "Moon" undertones.
During this state we "expect" to be provided for and to be connected to our source of "milk"; which to many Cancerians is linked to comfort food like dairy treats and even cereals etc. So through this connection, we remain grounded in "life".
It is also through "soul food" i.e food that has a "filling" effect on the stomach(ruled by the Moon) that Cancer feels like they are receiving the caregivers "love"(whether this be spouse, relative or friend).
So Cancer is a huge fan of Sunday dishes or "hearty" food etc. as gourmet meals prepared by a world renowned chef may impress the discerning Virgo. But to Cancer, these same meals feel very "soulless".
With the Cancer, one may prefer ust enough of a touch of "home" and loves to revisit or be transported back to that place again and again either through food, music or relationships.
This energy is deeply nostalgic and swept up in days gone past. So almost always Cancer energy reminisces on the past and whether or not that past was good matters not. This infact can be where you find a stark difference between a "happy" Cancer and a "troubled" one. As usually the inability to separate themselves from their past can define them.
With Cancers , everything is "comfort" driven. This can be from food to fashion. From friends(Taurus is on the solar 11th) to affection.
So with Venus being the planet of love in Cancer, the amorous nature tend to be more sensual and cuddly than sexual. There is an intricate mix of both sensitive feeling energy with sexuality. The two are seen as united as they are rarely ever separate
So Cancer Venus wants to make love to the person they are married to. The same person they have been in a long-term relationship with etc. and it is through this consistency(especially when Mars is in Cancer or Cancer is in the 1st) that assertion in sexuality and enjoyment are attained i.e through emotional security.
There's a longing to create for oneself a "womb" on earth with a loved one and spoon them or cuddle with them (escaping the insensitive and cruel world). In this way they(Cancer) enjoys this temporary haven until eventually the inevitable reunion with the eternal "haven" is reached i.e the cosmic "womb" after death from which they long to return.
So to Cancer, the maternal figure(even if male), the caregiver, the womb, the maternal/paternal parent etc. is that which connects Cancer to the cosmos. And is therefore a sacred link to be protected and cherished above all else.
So that is maybe why Cancer has an especially important bond with the nurturing energy represented by the father/ mother( and other nurturing figures) who serve as divine "surrogate" parents too. As well as the context of "home" in both the psychological and physical sense.
So Cancer is often very sympathetic to issues that involve maternal/faternal energy like home/family /young girls/young boys/young men coming into manhood/women/babies/women's health/mens health(testicular Cancer)/men's place in the home in union with that of a woman's/women's rights/the motherland/the fatherland and even the environment( because Mother nature is essentially the preserver of all life forms on this planet and they depend on her more than she depends on them)
So when Cancer is on the cusp of the 1st house, the above themes are not only personal. But they are advocated for passionately in a very martial(1st) way.
Venus as the planet there tends to give the native the ability to get others to "open up" and share feelings and emotions. There is an attraction to full figured or "round" people due to the perceived comfort that they bring.
Attractiveness(Venus) is linked to emotional comfort or resonance(Cancer). So these people may attract others because they look "safe" or they look the type to have "babies" with etc.
Men with Venus in Cancer in 1st often have the classic "puppy dog eyes" thing. And they often can seem(on the surface) very bankable and "hubby" material. Until of course their more bratty side comes up and they become increasingly demanding of attention.
Watch out for dramatic episodes with Cancer in the 1st. A tendency to not be very objective and genuinely believe that they are the ONLY ones who feel deeply.
If this energy is properly utilised, creativity is usually an inherent talent. This talent may come in acting or anything that involves raw emotional intensity and involvement.
These people(Cancers) can win the public over by being able to have people "believe" the sincerity of their feelings when expressed in a dramatic way or with dramatic flair
