After a lot of online research and playing with a calculator, an app, a program, and astro.com... I have come to the following conclusion. Dodecatemoria have several variations of calculation. But there are three in particular that are easily accessible to us.

1) Dwads are the Vedic divisional chart or varga 12.
Acronymization is D12 and its name is the Dwadashamsa. Despite it being of Vedic origin, we can still calculate Tropical Dwads via https://horoscopes.astro-seek.com/traditional-astrology Unfortunately it excludes Outer Planets in the list.

“The Dwad is very powerful in its description of the specific interests and character of person or event.”

"The Dwad seems to show us the idea behind the form - it is often less obvious, less immediate, but on closer acquaintance it introduces us to the deeper, subtler but far more specific characteristics of the person or the phenomenon.”

http://revpamcrane.weebly.com/the-dwad.html

Dwad planets, angles, lunar nodes that are conjunct or opposed Natal planets signify karmic debts, blessings, and fated connections. Dwads aspecting the Natal also help you pinpoint your talents and natural inclinations towards other people.

2) Duads are the 12th Harmonic chart.
It is considered the chart of the secondary self, if we consider only the signs and natal house overlays. Duads are the natal Zodiac signs divided into 12 parts each.

“The duads are layers of that energy that are very important in determining the behavioural patterns of the planets or points. The duads are your secondary self.”

“It represents the urge to escape into your spiritual aspect. The positions of duad is a secondary position AND function of a natal point or a natal planet.”
“... the 12th harmonic shows a channeled worldly energies, motivations, personal characteristics that are not explained in the birth chart.”

https://thecinnamonstars.wordpress.com/2015/10/12/the-12th-harmonic-your-secondary-self/

Duad planets, angles, lunar nodes that are conjunct or opposed Natal planets signify deeper emphasis on the meanings of your Natal points. Duads aspecting the Natal emphasize your motivations and personal characteristics that are not explained in your birth chart.

3) Dodecatemoria as the 13th Harmonic chart.
It is actually the Pauline variation of calculating "duads."
Also known as dodek or duodenaries.
Dodecatemoria are the natal Zodiac signs divided into 13 parts each.

Found little information in my research on dodecatemoria as a separate thing on its own. But my guess is dodecatemoria conjunctions or oppositions to the Natal chart show our true colors, our true nature. Dodecatemoria shows what makes us so unique between those with the same placements as our own. It’s the side we quietly show to the world, but also the side others get to deeply know when in private.

Dwads, Duads, and Dodecatemoria Overlaying Natal Houses
You can compare your Dwad, Duad, or Dodek charts to your Natal chart to figure out which Natal houses all of these points overlay. All you do is look at the degrees of your Natal House Cusps and see which of your Dwads or Duads or Dodeks are in which houses.

Dwads, Duads, and Dodek planets and points in the Natal Houses show us which areas of life we are most naturally inclined towards, where our soul feels most like itself, like as if we’re at home with those areas of life (for example, 9th house = higher education, Dwad Sun in 9th, etc.)

Use of Other Zodiacs

You can also generate your charts into Sidereal Zodiac signs on astro-seek.com

Only on astro.com, however, can you generate your 12th Harmonic (Duads) and 13th Harmonic (Pauline Variation Dodecatemoria) with either Sidereal, Draconic, Tropical Heliocentric, or Sidereal Heliocentric Zodiac systems.

Each Zodiac also has a different meaning, such as Sidereal being considered karmic, Draconic being the soul, etc. So every possible Dwads, Duads, or Dodek signs you can have all hold occult meanings to them, especially when compared to each Zodiac system or to the Natal chart.

Just a bump & happy new year to all of you reading this.

Duads were a revelation when I found out about them. I pay more attention to them in the tropical/western zodiac, mostly because I'm not too experienced in Vedic.

When I got into astro 8 years ago, I did my birth chart online (tropical) and kept redrawing it because I just couldn't believe I'm a Capricorn Moon, I wasn't all that controlled emotionally or cold at all and super sensitive. Thought my birth time must've been wrong! Now aside from a conjunction with Neptune and the IC (so double whammy) I found out my Moon is in the Cancer duad.

And then all the puzzle pieces fell into place. (Oh and the last few years, descriptions online have been much kinder on Capricorn Moon, too, that helps as well :laugh

In tropical I am a Leo Sun, Capricorn Moon conj Neptune/IC/Saturn/Uranus stellium and Libra Ascendant, with ruler Venus in Virgo.

Duad-wise, my Sun is now in Aries, Moon in Cancer, ASC Sagittarius, with ruler Jupiter in Cancer and Jupiter's duad in Leo.

I do see some links between tropical and duad, especially Ascendant. In tropical, Jupiter squares my Ascendant and ruler Venus, which gives it a Sagittarius flavor as well.
Then Moon conj IC and in the 4th house giving it that Cancer flavor.
Don't see a connection between my Leo Sun and Aries duad, though.

I think if you look closely, you can see the same theme come back comparing your planets in both their tropical and duad signs.

So a bump haha.

(Chart to look up yours if you don't know 'em yet, and another thread on it here:

Oh and as for the house flavor for the dwad (meaning 1st, 2nd, 3rd duad etc) I read about that in The 144 Doors of the Zodiac by Thyrsa Escobar as well. Great book and not very big, it's easy to read through.

My Sun is in the 9th duad (Sagittarius dwad)
Moon in the 7th duad (Libra dwad)
ASC in the 3rd duad (Gemini dwad)

I can especially relate to my Sun getting a 9th house flavor this way. I'm pretty much always striving to learn more, get better at things, get way too carried away about how great things will be in the future , and when I forget that me and my life are a work in progress, life will show me that again through crisis, circumstances and especially people entering my life that show me why I should never stop trying to learn.
