Would the effects be the same? Say an Aries 25 Venus and Uranus 2 Aquarius.

Yes, because it's the same aspect. Aspects are geometry and not at all dependent on signs. Just interpret according to signs they are in. That square is a bit wide, so not as pronounced as it would be if Venus were closer to 25° Capricorn (or Cancer).

Isn't the idea of a square aspect a certain energy exchange? Say when they say a square is difficult cuz the energies don't mesh smoothly... Am I understanding this wrong?

The square nature suggests the two planets are not finding it easy to work together. But they have to.

Venus wants peace,harmony and cooperation
Uranus is rebellion, independence and "fire starting" etc.

You may be drawn to people who bring your life to a bit of chaos. They may be difficult to "manage" or be very random and inconsistent. There is often "love at first sight" with this aspect and the relationship is formed quickly.

The issues however crop up as frustration. Uranus may pull you two apart by distance(usually)or circumstance i.e the person may be in the process of moving house to another state(when you meet) or moving to another country.

So the square with Venus suggests that things may not go as pleasantly as you are comfortable with. With Venus in Aries, you may want sexual intimacy but settle for phone calls instead(Aqua).

It may also mean that you may be motivated to travel for love. Going out of the country/state to see them. But when you get there, the passion may take its time to get up to par with the momentum of your feelings i.e you are hot and heavy(Aries). They are more platonic and friendly(Aqua)

Whatever the outcome, there is a strongly "inconvenient" situation or something that requires adjutments. But in the same breath, it is not entirely their fault that your life is being disrupted by them.

You may revel in the drama i.e the erratic nature of the interactions between you two.In that you may be bored or restless with anything that settles to "normalcy" i.e you may not feel a strong romantic attraction towards someone who is more convenient or lives closer to you for instance.

If you have Uranus interacting with the 7th/5th or 8th, this may be even more true for you. Romantic and sexual opportunities may be erratic and unpredictable. In that you may have to adjust yourself to doing things a little differently in order to get what what you want.

My ex had Uranus/Venus conj in Scorpio. He travelled quite a bit to see me. And I him(I have Uranus in 8th).

Another before him had Uranus/Venus opp in Sag/Gem. He would get frustrated with having to travel to see me. And it took its toll in our ability to keep our intimacy levels going as he felt I wasn't there in pivotal moments where he needed me.

Its a dicey aspect for intimacy am afraid. Not always a roaring success

Oh yes, I wanted to add that its either Jack who had this aspect natally (Venus/Uranus) or his synastry with Ennis had it strongly(two guys on Brokeback Mountain) This created the bittersweet nature of their relationship.

There was always either ill timing or not enough time spent together to ground the intimacy(Uranus does that). But all the same, they tolerated the erratic nature of their coupling and as much as Jack tried to "replace" Ennis, he kept on coming back to him. As Uranus is very insistent on its own way and can be addictive too.

"How I wish I knew how to quit you"- Jack says to Ennis

"Then why don't you huh?" Ennis responds to Jack sobbing; "Its all because of you Jack that I am nothing. I am nowhere!"

My heart trembled in that scene. But that is the nature of Uranus/Venus in that as frustrating as it can get, its almost like there is an unrelenting bond that joins you both irrevocably (the longer you two get together).

So "quitting" doesn't come easy-even as reasons mount towards that outcome, it can be very painful indeed to try do it(more so than it is to tolerate it really)

Wow!! Thanks for posting, I have this aspect, too, out of sign, and haven't been able to find a lot of information on it online.

Mine's between 25 Virgo and 1 Cap. I 100% see it as a square, descriptions of it apply to my life both in romance, social life, creative projects. None of it is like consistent (very Uranus) and comes with a lot of things that I tend to go back and forth between a LOT (again, Uranus).

It could be that it depends on the rest of the chart? Like in my case, both rule one of my romance houses (5th & 8th), so it's very prominent.

The aspect is actually a t-square with my Jupiter and that made it very confusing to me when I first got into astrology. It's hard to have these two signs that are both the same element, but now they don't work well together? Just, yeah, confusing!!

Ahh thanks for the bump Randall. Even if this isn't my thread, it's still a shame there aren't more replies to this. Very good topic and little known about it, and I've been interested in reading more about this!
