I know what aspects are more prone to addiction but, what should I look for for the will or strength to recover? My father died from a heroin overdose and his chart was almost 100% water with very little scorpio/Pluto. I was wondering if having that Pluto influence would help with recovering from addiction. I also dated a guy who was terribly addicted to heroin for years and had very little water but Pluto conjunct ascendant and is still drug free years later. IP: Logged |

Sorry about your father. That sounds reasonable. Info on both of their births would help. IP: Logged |

I was just asking in general and giving just what I've noticed in some charts. I was thinking that having more scorpio or a prominent Pluto would aid in recovering. IP: Logged |

Dons2angelss,In astrology I see many possibilities but none have I studied enough to apply here. I would agree Pluto if in the correct aspect might drive someone to transmute their energies. Saturn would be a good one to enforce sobriety. I'm so sorry about your loss of your loved one and struggle with your loved ones who battle addiction. I'm no stranger myself. I have been learning about chakras and when realigned (life can bring them off balance), addiction can be a noticeable symptom of these. Solar Plexus generally is mentioned but some gemstone therapy references I've found are Amethyst, Fire Agate, Carnelian,

I would think pogressions and transits would accompany a "life perspective change". There are choices we make based on context and not content. But we can always change our minds(this especially when we change our minds about who we are and whom we want to be) I find Pluto/Saturn interactions instrumental to change either by transit/progressions etc. They can be very "get your act together" in their effect. Uranus also by transit or progression can turn things on their head. One can suddenly decide that their "bored" with an activity and suddenly quit "cold turkey". IP: Logged |

I’ve overcome addiction to alcohol and cocaine. I have also od’d-which was year 2000 and which was also the last time I touched that sh1t. I do have a scary “inner strength” and there’s not much I can’t, and won’t, do when I set my mind to it. I have Pluto sq Sun, Moon, Mercury and most of my “important” planets are Cardinal which I think makes me very forward driven. I don’t like to linger in the past. IP: Logged |

i was a heroin addict, clean from heroin for 2 years, but i use other drugs still and have for most of my life (i generally stick to weed because it's a much safer option but i also like psychedelics, alcohol and i'm not opposed to occasional other things) i have sun sextile pluto, and with placidus my pluto is first house, no scorpio other than pluto and i'm a libra ascendant my fiancee used with me and has been clean just as long (we quit cold turkey together) and she has a scorpio stellium like me she sticks to weed mostly now and strong pluto i'm a water void as far as personal planets go, she's got mercury and venus in scorpio (her venus is conjunct pluto), and mars in pisces (her mars is conjunct jupiter) IP: Logged |

Those squares would definitely help overcome obstacles, especially coming from Pluto. Squares can be extremely beneficial in a natal chart if you're able to use them to your advantage, which you did to have kicked such a difficult addiction. I'm thinking there's some merit to my scorpio/Pluto theory of overcoming addiction. Of course I'm not saying without those aspects you're doomed but if I'm reading a chart for an addict, I'd like to see at least a couple of aspects to Pluto or scorpio placements to help them focus their energy. Thank you ♡ I agree that saturn aspects or transits would be really beneficial too. That strong discipline would be needed as well. IP: Logged |
