I know two people who have very spartan lifestyles and would live completely without earthly possessions if they could. One has Cancer rising with Leo Sun conjunct Mercury and IC. Moon in Aries, Venus in Virgo, Mars in Libra and Aquarius Midheaven. North Node and Jupiter in Gemini 12th house. Saturn and Chiron conjunct in Pisces. The other has Sun conjunct Uranus in Sagittarius, Venus (and Mercury, Jupiter, Neptune) in Capricorn, Moon in Aries. Saturn in Scorpio, Chiron in Gemini. Don't have a birth time for him so angles and houses are unknown. IP: Logged |

I challenge the phrasing of the question. No signs are materialistic, as in measuring value only in material terms. People are materialistic through a distortion of values, mostly from insecurity, avarice, greed. I was born with Sun, Saturn, Mercury, Venus in Taurus; Moon in Capricorn; Virgo rising -- and I'm one of the least materialist people you will ever meet. I'm Earthy in my own way, but not materialistic. I am not a cheerleader for capitalism and if I had my choice would not participate in it even if guaranteed to enrich myself. So if this can be true for someone who 'should' be more materialistic based on zodiac signs dominant in the chart, then it can also be true that those signs least associated with materialism can be found well represented in the birth charts of people with what would be considered materialistic values.

I'm a Taurus Sun, however materialism never held weight in my life only until lately. That is, 25+ years I really could not care less about any earthly 'stuff'. I feel this is just a phase I'm at now but I could be wrong. 12th housers are known to be late bloomers lol so it could be that or the fact that my lunar planets are in the 12th house is the reason for my lack of materialism. So I'd go with Pisces I guess. IP: Logged |

I agree with Kannon there is something wrong with the question, maybe should make it "what's most generous sign in the zodiac" insteadIP: Logged |

I think this is where houses come into play. I am a Pisces and I do like money. I don't have much and I want more. I have NN in the 2nd and I feel money will play an even bigger part in the future. But I m not willing to compromise my joy for money if that makes sense. Maybe we should define what we mean by materialistic. Are true materialistic people those who choose a career based solely on the prospect of earning a lot of cash? Are those who follow their true inner talents (even though they are not well paid in society) not real materialists? I m definitely part of the second group but that doesn't mean I don't like money. I play the lottery and I fantasize what I would do with all those millions haha. But that's just a little hobby of mine on the side.

Yeah, it does feel like we need to define what we mean by materialistic. Personally I don't feel that being materialistic is necessarily a bad thing. Every person is both materia and spirit, physical body alongside mind... Thus we all have materialistic needs as well as spiritual ones. There is such a thing as overly materialistic, yes... but imo one can also become too preoccupied with the spiritual, to the detriment of the physical reality we live in. As with all things, a balance would be best.Personally I would say that I'm fairly balanced, perhaps leaning more materialistic. My Taurus Venus loves all life's hedonistic comforts... though my Virgo Moon is satisfied with quiet and humble living. My dominant Mercury keeps me very preoccupied with intellectual pursuits, but all the Cancer I have in my chart makes sure I remember material nourishment as well, for myself as well as my family. I am also very quick to give spiritual value to physical things... sentimentality and nostalgia I guess. IP: Logged |

I agree, all humans are materialistic by nature. That's why the question should be most generous sign instead. IP: Logged |

Same placements and sentiments here. I wouldn't call my Venus Taurus a hedonist, as far as "consumption" .. Nah. Not there. She likes and appreciates a quiet "quality" (not quantity) because being comforted "nurtures" her life, and sets the stage to inspire a productive-creativity-- inward and outwardly. {Venus opp Saturn} IP: Logged |

What house is your Venus in Mirage? It might be that my 8th house placement is what makes my Taurus Venus so blatantly hedonistic... Themes of opulence and decadence are very much what my Venus is about, and also maybe 8th house type themes... Decadence is derived from the word decay after all.IP: Logged |
