"If you're one of the millions who give attention to astrology, or have had your birth chart drawn and interpreted, you probably know the zodiacal sign and natal house occupied by Venus at the time of your birth. The natal house in which Venus was located at birth shows the particular set of human experiences through which your emotional life, feeling nature and sense of values, fueled by the type of energy symbolized by Venus' sign, best operates."

"The brief overview of the Venus cycle presented in the previous page provides a multiplicity of factors susceptible to astrological interpretation, and it offers a foundation for a process-oriented classification of Venus types. Such a classification consists of two fundamental types – Venus Lucifer, the Morning Star; Venus Hesperus, the Evening Star. As we'll presently see, each of the two types presents a particular emotional temperament and a particular sense of values, meaning, ideals and appreciation. Additionally, each of the two primary types carries a special retrograde subtype.

"Determining your Venus type is easy. First locate the Sun in your natal chart. If Venus is clockwise from the Sun, your Venus type is Lucifer, the Morning Star. On the other hand, if Venus is positioned counterclockwise from the Sun, your Venus type is of Hesperus, the Evening Star."

"If you haven't had your birth chart calculated, simply look up your birth day and year in an ephemeris. If the Sun is further along the zodiac than Venus, your Venus type is Lucifer. If Venus is further along the zodiac than the Sun, it's Hesperus. While you're at it, check to see if Venus is retrograde (indicated by the letter R in the Venus column above your birthdate). In the ephemeris and horoscope graphics generated by Khaldea2001TM, retrograde planets and listings are shown in red. For example, if your natal Sun is 20 degrees Gemini and your natal Venus is 10 degrees Taurus, your Venus type is Lucifer, the Morning Star."

Venus Morning Star:

Venus Evening Star:

"Lucifer (/ˈluːsɪfər/ LEW-si-fər; "light-bringer") is a Latin name for the planet Venus as the morning star in the ancient Roman era, and is often used for mythological and religious figures associated with the planet. Due to the unique movements and discontinuous appearances of Venus in the sky, mythology surrounding these figures often involved a fall from the heavens to earth or the underworld. Interpretations of a similar term in the Hebrew Bible, translated in the King James Version as "Lucifer", led to a Christian tradition of applying the name Lucifer and its associated stories of a fall from heaven to Satan. Most modern scholarship regards these interpretations as questionable, and translates the term in the relevant Bible passage (Isaiah 14:12) as "morning star" or "shining one" rather than as a proper name, "Lucifer".[1]"

"In classical mythology, Lucifer ("light-bringer" in Latin) was the name of the planet Venus, though it was often personified as a male figure bearing a torch.

The Greek name for this planet was variously Phosphoros (also meaning "light-bringer") or Heosphoros (meaning "dawn-bringer").[24] Lucifer was said to be "the fabled son of Aurora[25] and Cephalus, and father of Ceyx". He was often presented in poetry as heralding the dawn.[24]"

"The fourth star is that of Venus, Luciferus by name. Some say it is Juno's. In many tales it is recorded that it is called Hesperus, too. It seems to be the largest of all stars. Some have said it represents the son of Aurora and Cephalus, who surpassed many in beauty, so that he even vied with Venus, and, as Eratosthenes says, for this reason it is called the star of Venus. It is visible both at dawn and sunset, and so properly has been called both Luciferus and Hesperus."

"Ovid, in his first century epic Metamorphoses, describes Lucifer as ordering the heavens"

Isaiah 14:12

"How you have fallen from heaven, O star of the morning, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, You who have weakened the nations!"

2 Peter 1:19

"So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts."

Job 38:7

"When the morning stars sang together And all the sons of God shouted for joy?"

Revelation 22:16

"I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things for the churches I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star."

Revelation 2:28

"and I will give him the morning star."

Numbers 24:17

"I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near; A star shall come forth from Jacob, A scepter shall rise from Israel, And shall crush through the forehead of Moab, And tear down all the sons of Sheth."

TRANSITS OF VENUS( When Venus goes Retrograde and also conjunct the earths orbital plane):

"A transit is the passage of a planet across the Sun's bright disk. At this time, the planet can be seen as a small black disk slowly moving in front of the Sun. The orbits of Mercury and Venus lie inside Earth's orbit, so they are the only planets which can pass between Earth and Sun to produce a transit. Transits are very rare astronomical events. In the case of Venus, there are on average two transits every one and a quarter centuries. A transit of Venus occurs only if the planet is in inferior conjunction with the Sun (between Earth and Sun) and is also crossing the through Earth's orbital plane (the Ecliptic). During the present period in Earth's history, Venus's orbit crosses Earth's orbital plane in early June and early December each year. If the Venus is passing between the Earth and Sun at that time, a transit will be seen."

"During the six millennium period 2000 BCE to 4000 CE1, Earth experiences 81 transits of Venus across the Sun."

"When a transit of Venus occurs, a second one often follows eight years later. This is because the orbital periods of Venus (224.701 days) and Earth (365.256 days) are in an 8 year (2922 days) resonance with each other. In other words, in the time it takes Earth to orbit the Sun eight times, Venus completes almost exactly thirteen revolutions about the Sun. As a result, Venus and Earth line up in the same positions with respect to the Sun. Actually, the two orbital periods are not quite commensurate with each other since Venus arrives at the eight year rendezvous about 2.45 days earlier that Earth. After the third eight-year cycle, Venus arrives too early for a transit to occur."

"The next transit season occurs either 105.5 years or 121.5 years later at the opposite node of Venus' orbit. Once again, a pair of transits will often occur separated by eight years. This recurrence pattern of 8 + 105.5 + 8 + 121.5 years can be seen repeating itself in the catalog of Venus transits. An example of the pattern can be seen in the transits of 1631, 1639, 1761, 1769, 1874, 1882, 2004 and 2012. Occasionally, one of the eight year "double-transits" may disappear from the catalog for several centuries because one of them is a near miss. For instance, note the "missing" transits of 1388, 1145, 0902, 0659, 0416, etc.."

"The previous transit of Venus took place on 8 June 2004 (preceded by transits on 9 December 1874 and 6 December 1882); the next pair of transits will occur on 10–11 December 2117 and in December 2125.[3]"

Why do transits of Venus happen twice in eight years, either in June(Gemini) or (Sagittarius) December, then not again for over 100 years?

If you miss the transit of Venus in early June you'll have to wait another 105 years until December 2117 for another chance to witness one of the rarest and most famous events in astronomy.

"You can blame that long wait on the geometry and interplay of the orbits of Earth and Venus," says planetary scientist Dr Craig O'Neill from Sydney's Macquarie University.

"It's purely just a consequence of how long it takes the two planets to go around the Sun and how long it takes them to be in alignment again."

A transit occurs when Venus crosses the disc of the Sun as seen from Earth.

But instead of covering the whole Sun as the Moon does during a total eclipse, Venus being so far away and looking so much smaller from our perspective, will appear as a tiny dark dot passing across the golden face of the Sun.

The transit of Venus doesn't happen every year because the orbits of Venus and Earth are slightly out of alignment with each other, says O'Neill."

"Compared to Earth's orbital plane, Venus is about three degrees out."

"When we see Venus, which usually happens in the early morning or late evening, it generally seems to pass a little above or below the Sun because its orbital plane is a little bit out from our perspective."

"So Venus and Earth only line up in the exact same orbital plane in relation to the Sun, a couple of times every few hundred years," he says."

Hmmm...so my Venus is Scorpio. Scorpio is clockwise or counterclockwise? My guess is that its counterclockwise? So I would be Hesperus?

It would be nice if this article came with an example. And furthermore, if the article stated what the differences between the two Venus types are?

It's not based on sign position but where Venus is placed from your sun.

For instance, I have an evening star Venus because my Venus is at 28 degrees Aqua, counterclockwise from my Sun at 6 degrees Aqua. It would be a morning star Venus if my Venus was, say in Capricorn at 27 degrees as it is clockwise from my sun and is behind the sun.

Astro.com has an article on the morning and evening star venues, but I find it difficult to relate to the interpretations of each.

Morning star venus here located clockwise from the sun.

The first half-cycle of the Venus cycle is characterized by a spontaneous, eager and impulsive emotional nature. http://www.astro.com/astrology/in_mrmvenus_e.htm

Fits me, I also have a positive control over it because it trines pluto exact degree.
