can anybody tell me what's the difference here between my transits and that of my significant other?

We will both have transiting Uranus-Pluto and then Uranus-Venus and Uranus-Sun oppositions in our 2 and 8 houses. The difference is that his Pluto is in 8H while mine is in 2H. So transiting Venus then Sun will in that order conjunct Pluto in my 2H and oppose Uranus in 8H and for him the other way round, transiting Venus then Sun conjunct Pluto in his 8H and oppose Uranus in his 2H.

How will these transits affect us both? I'd like to know the difference!

Uranus (my 5H ruler) transiting my 8H making opposition to Pluto (my 2H ruler). This opposition is exactly on the cusp/axis of 2-8 houses.

HIM now. Uranus (his 12H ruler but possibly chart ruler..) transiting his 2H making opposition to his Pluto (his 8H ruler) in 8H
