Do you remember? Those friends, the minute you look at them you have trouble to keep your face straight? And you always laugh until you pee your pants? Just laughing about....eh...absolutely NOTHING...but you just can't stop laughing? Tears dwell but neither one of you is able to just put an end to it? Your spleen almost tears apart and you can't breathe anymore. It is torture but you can't help it. I have had them. And I noticed I have this click with some people and not with others. I call it the laughing click, or humor click. At the same time, if another person says the exact same joke, or is just as clumsy, it just doesn't work. They are simply not that funny. But between some friends, there is just an energetically ooze of humor surrounding them. I have had them too. And I wondered. Why is that? So I calculated all my past friends and coworkers' chart (and yes I remember their birthdate even though it is 30 years ago) and it occured to me that almost all of the laughing friends were fire signs. Most of them were Aries, some were Leo and a few Sags. But not all of them were that funny. So there must be more to it. And sometimes their sun signs were not fire. I looked further and then I noticed if there Mercury was a fire sign, then they "had it", otherwise they were not that funny. I wondered if Mercury was some kind of humor planet, because it is, in a way, kind of communication. I found nearly nothing, but a few hinted at Mercury. But they made lists of what sign had what particular sense of humor. Then I realized my Mercury is Sagittarius and that explained it. The most laughter I have with persons are of an Aries or Leo Mercury. Mercury in Sagittarius is also funny but because it is in the same sign as mine, a little less. The trines works best for me. It does not have to be in aspect with mine, just the Aries and Leo sign will do. This weekend I had family weekend, of my husbands side. When I greeted his 80-year old aunt, I felt it again. I looked at hear and I couldn't keep my mouth straight. I think her head and her expression are soo funny. Then I wondered if her Mercury was a fire sign. I told my husband about it and he said well you can look it up if we are back home. So I did... Sagittarius. I just KNEW it... My husband has his Mercury in Gemini, and I never laugh like this with him. But he has that same click with his brother, who also has a Gemini Mercury. So hypothesis still confirmed. What about you guys? Have you ever had this laughing-thing with someone? And I don't mean just one time, but all the time. Whenever you look into their eyes, you just understand each other and the eyes start to smile again. Just because you think the other persons head is just soo funny. Even though there is nothing wrong with it. And are their Mercuries in the same element as yours? I'm looking forward to the replies ------------------ Mercury conjunct Neptune: Can I take a message? ^ That, along with any of my fellow Gemini Moons, when I meet them I feels like I'm talking with one of my multiple personalities, and this feeling of going back to childhood too when I look at the childish spark in their eyes too goes up in my antennae when I look at them, does that make any fcking sense, No ?? Ohh well, ohh well, ophh ******* well. //IP: Logged |

Oh yes! The I-feel-like-a-child-again friends well that must be something emotional, moon indeed. But to me, that's also Mercury match.
That the Scorpio Mercs are bad at telling jokes is a matter of perspective. I guess. Maybe another Scorp-Merc will laugh his pants off.

Can you elaborate on your comment? You mean moon trine moon is your laughing-your-pants-off friends? Or are you commenting on above person? ------------------ Mercury conjunct Neptune: Can I take a message? IP: Logged |

It most a synastry thing bc my husband has mercury in Scorpio and he is hilarious, he is my favorite person to laugh with, when we laugh together it feels so authentic and like we are so in synch, like home. It comes from the soul. He has mercury in Scorpio conjunct eros, Jupiter in Virgo in the 5th house, Sun in Libra in mutual reception to his chart ruler Venus in Leo, mars in scorpio. I would say he enjoys dark humor more than I do but his humor is very broad. His mercury: Mercury trine moon by 6 d Mercury sextile Venus by 6 d Mercury semisextile Saturn exact Mercury Quintile Northnode in Leo Exact My husband's jupiter in the 5th conjuncts my sun and opposes my moon, our venuses conjunct in his 4H and my 8H. Added: forget to point out my husband's jupiter conjuncts my mercury in virgo in the 9th house too lol. That sounds critical. I knew another libra who was also hilarious! With mercury in Scorpio and venus conjunct mars in scorpio and Moon in Gemini.

Sounds like you figured something out about your chart. I remember as a child and teenager having some instances like you describe, having a laughing attack just by looking at someone, as an adult this has not happened to me. That been said I do laugh often but bc someone said something funny, people often comment that they love my laugh. Other than my husband who makes me laugh a lot and see above for details (his Jupiter in the 5th conjuncts my mercury and my sun, and opposes my moon. His mer is in Scorpio). There is my friend Lauren who is hilarious and makes a lot of us laugh at work but I feel I the most. She has moon in Leo conjunct my venus and mars, she also has mars in Saggitarius square my mercury in virgo in the 9th house and her own mercury is in capricorn. So there are hilarious people out there who dont have a fire mercury. Lauren has mercury in capricorn in the 10th house Husband has mercury in scorpio in the 6th house. No fire sign or fire house, both crack me up regularly. IP: Logged |

I know very well that feeling but it is not that simple really. My Mercury is in Cancer 26° I've had it with people who have Mercury in: Aqua (3 people), Scorpio (3), Capricorn (2), Cancer(1), Virgo (2), Sag (2). However I know way more people with those Mercury signs but they don't make me laugh like that (if at all) I suspect Planets in another's 5th H and Jupiter synastry aspects may bring this.

I have a few friends that are like that for me. Two are close friends still and one of them I'm not even close with these days, but whenever we meet we just have a ridiculously fun time. My Mercury is in Cancer, conjunct Mars and Midheaven. The latter friend has Mercury in Pisces, and another has Mercury in Scorpio. So thus far hypothesis holds true. But then there is the last friend on the list, who I've laughed with more than any other, and her Mercury is in Aquarius! Her Mercury makes a lovely tight trine to my Gemini Sun though.

Well, that is exactly what I mean. I did not say that fire Mercury perse are funny. To me they are because I have also have a fire Merc. The way you describe your friend Lauren is what I mean. You both have earth Mercs so this confirms the hypothesis. About your husband I don't have an explanation, but I realize my theorie is not waterproof. I still need to improve it and that's why I can use the stories of all you people. Maybe there is indeed something with Jupiter or Sun too. ------------------ Mercury conjunct Neptune: Can I take a message? IP: Logged |

Oke so again, the same element Mercury works for you too. And the latter friend, well maybe there is also something about Sun I have to consider. ------------------ Mercury conjunct Neptune: Can I take a message? IP: Logged |

Hahahaha yeah that is what I mean. hahahaha And again, same element Merc. By the way, I would pee my pants with you, literally rolling on floor laughing, involuntarily jiggling like freshly caught shrimp. The Aries Mercs work best for me. A while ago I was watching tv and there was this woman and I felt like she would be such a person I would laugh with. I looked at her eyes, she was on tv but I just think she had something funny. And because she is a Dutch celebrity, her birth date is on wikipedia. And I calculated her chart..guess what? Aries Merc and Sun. I just KNEW it. ------------------ Mercury conjunct Neptune: Can I take a message? IP: Logged |

I know a lot more mercury in capricorn folks who dont make me laugh than do, she is actually quite the exception if we go by mercury signs. My friend from childhood who I find hilarious has mercury in gemini, so my three examples involve three different elements now, earth, water and air. Its a 5th/leo and 9th/jupiter thing. 5th house is fun and inner child and entertainment stuff, the behavior you describe sounds extremely like inner child stuff, almost like certain people make you regress to grade school and you start acting like a child and laugh and giggle just by looking at them. 9th/Jupiter expands what it touches, multiplies making it more likely you will laugh just by looking at someone at their face. Jupiter often copes with humor as it requires seeing the positive and reframing the experience in a more positive light that allows you to laugh at it. This is definitely not purely an element thing, there are more people with earth mercuries that don't make me laugh than do. A lot of people are not funny, some people are funny so first natally there has to be something about their chart that shows creativity ect, then the synastry will enhance further this. IP: Logged |
