When you said you love mental things like learning, I thought that it's either your Moon enjoys string aspects with Jupiter /Mercury or is in the 3rd or 9th house.

And then what do you know? The Moon is in the 9th house which may explain the positive mental outlook and how you can't relate to Cancer Moons more "woe is me" descriptions online (which btw are stereotypes )

With Moon in 9th in Cancer, you learn in an emotional way or intuitively ie. The subjcet matter has to matter to you from a soul level in order for you to learn. Or it must be relatable in an intimate,tangible way.

It could be that education(especially higher education or travelling for learning) may result in greater clarity in feelings & thereby emotional maturity and/or expansion.

Your Moon forms a sextile to Saturn. You could be interested in learning subject matters that deal with tangibles or reality-something you can learn and apply in real life ie. Mathematics,engineering, accounting, construction, law etc. And not be interested in abstract ideas or things that are too open-ended.

Saturn gives a sobering effect on your Moon and contributes to you being less sentimental and/or emotional about your interests.

You may study exhaustively(9th) for emotional needs.But Sat in aspect suggests that whatever you study must be readily applicable to life and not just for leisure or pleasure.

Similar to you I have Moon in Cancer.But my Moon is in the 3rd house and the tightest aspects to it come from Mars/Mercury & Venus.

I also enjoy learning. But the issue for me is that I am less consistent and more restless.

I tend to prefer to study a highly emotional subject matter or one that will allow for debate/interaction.And I like competing with knowledge.

Studying /learning can feel like a drug.This especially if the subject matter is exciting. I don't mind learning it exhaustively.

Your Mars in 1st could be why you are drawn to Aries types. Mars is in its natural house when in the 1st and is strongly affiliated with Aries.

You have a quincunx between your Moon and Uranus. A minor aspect, but maybe it does affect the way your moon expresses itself? Uranus would make you more restless, more about the mental than the emotional, moods/feelings being inconsistent or fluctuating a lot.

Like Aries already said, Moon in the 9th could give you a lot more desire - soul level, love that wording! - to explore, learn, broaden your horizons and to just learn more about the world beyond. It is something you *need* to do to feel comfortable.

Sagittarius, the sign normally linked with the 9th house is quite different from Cancer and I've found that they can really struggle with accepting negative emotions, always wanting to put up a happy face. I imagine also a conflict between wanting to settle somewhere/stick with something vs wanting to move away and explore.

Again, most astrology, especially on forums or social media tends to focus more on the obvious traits and so it can give the impression that if you don't relate to those traits, then I see people wonder "am I a 'real' <insert sign here>?". While there's a lot of things that can change your Moon (or Sun, etc.)'s expression.
