Hi,I see on some sites they ask you to put in your time zone instead of calculating it for you. If you are born in Nov, do you check off Daylight Savings Time? IP: Logged |

The site most likely to calculate time zone and daylight savings correctly is astro.com ... So, first draw your chart there - then ensure that the Universal Time calculated for that chart agrees with the Universal Time calculated by any other site you use. That may or may require you to check off Daylight Savings at one site but not at another. ... It all depends upon whether or not the site you are using has made the same effort as Astro.com to "do the job correctly" (and many do not). [The trick is to know the Ascendant degree of your Astro.com natal chart, and adjust the time data of the other site until it produces the same Ascendant degree.] IP: Logged |

That's not a chart casting site you want to use. Just as any astrologer casting charts should have the proper time zone information, so any chart casting site should as well. The variations on when/where summer/daylight time is to be applied change by place and year. A good site that keeps track of this history so you can know the exact time change for your area and date of birth: http://www.timeanddate.com

To avoid upsetting the staff at Astrodienst, Kannon (and to prevent doubt/confusion by anyone reading your above comment) ... please name/specify which chart casting site you are referring to in the first sentence of your above quoted comment.IP: Logged |

Agree with Graham. Astrodienst is a really superb website. Alois and his team work hard. - http://www.astro.com/contact/contact_about_e.htm?nhor=427832&nho2=3890944 - http://www.astro.com/people/treindl_e.htm?nhor=427832&nho2=3890944 Maybe Kannon was referring to the Chinese website. From what Kannon suggested. Here's a more-specific and direct page to go to for information about YOUR DST/EST at 'time and date' website. - http://www.timeanddate.com/time/dst/2020.html If you scroll down, and look to the right on the side bar, you'll find a heading where you can select information for the year you were born. ... So would this mean if you were born after 10/30/77 you wouldn't need to worry about DST? Only the months between when DST started through 10/30 would need to worry about clicking DST? What if you were born in 1970, would you still need to do it? What years need DST? The reason I am using this website is because so far it's the only site I can read in English for Chinese Purple Star Astrology...if you know of a better, please share!

I know he was ... but those who are new to astrology (or/and are not familiar with the excellent tools provided freely by Astrodienst) may not realise that. However ... 3 of us have now made it clear that the Astro.com site is ok ... so, "job done". IP: Logged |

Hi Scorpie! For the year "1977" .. your answer is 'yes'. You were born in November, in Standard Time. You do not have to check the DST box. The time change occurred October 30, 2am/1am. For the year "1970" .. go to the website url I left you, under the " " -- Follow the directions (go to right of website page, and scroll down. Sidebar Headings. You should find the place to chose a different year. If you can read what I've been typing, then you shouldn't really have a problem finding the DATE and time it will give you. Let us know how it went? IP: Logged |
