I have noticed that people with strong Taurus or Cancer energy are more likely to be "hoarders" (a lot of them don't take it to the extremes but it's still noticeable imo). Especially Taurus Moon and Cancer Moon and also Moon in the 2nd house and Moon in the 4th house, respectively. Venus in these two signs and houses same, to a lesser degree.

What are your thoughts about the connection between Taurus or Cancer energy and hoarding?

Perhaps it's Moon's need for security (ruling Cancer and exalted in Taurus)?

As a Taurus sun myself (with Mars and Venus in Cancer) I have never hoarded my most needed stuff which I use on a daily basis more than two or three extra boxes (or is this hoarding)? Mostly out of laziness and not wanting to have to get up and go to the store every day.

My boyfriend is a Cancer sun and AC (he has also Mars in the 2nd) and I would have called him a hoarder if it wasn't that he has a big family and takes care of both elderly parents. Even before the pandemic he went grocery shopping a couple of times a week.

Cancers are interesting, they unconsciously know when to hoard vital stuff (like bottled water) and are very stingy with things they consider luxury and unnecessary (Taurus's weak spot).

I think hoarding is a very sensitive subject during the current pandemic situation, because perhaps all signs would hoard in times of despair and shortage.

My aunt is a Taurus and she lives with my cousin a Cancer sun, and I haven't seen a hoarder bone in either of them.

I don't personally know any Cancer or Taurus moons and wonder if they are different?

A hoarder I can think of is an ex of mine, Aquarius sun, Libra moon. We dated a couple of years ago and I remember how surprised and a bit repulsed I was when I saw the pretty big stock of all goods neatly stored at his place for future personal use. It ended up being one of the major reasons I broke up with him because I considered that behavior selfish and a bit obsessive. He shrugged it off and called it having a good vision for the future, similar to what animals do when they store food for cold months.

Thankfully enough his behavior was pure selfish and had nothing to do with planning to sell stuff on black market.

Since this pandemic has started and videos of people going after each other at the supermarkets have gone viral, I have thought about him a few times and have wondered how freaked out he must be now. He has Chiron in the 4th.

Both of my Cancer parents can be hoarders.

As soon as they put sentimental value into items they refuse to let junk go.

My dad kept a broken down car that my grandma (his side of the family) used to drive before she passed away, it just sat in the driveway rusting.

We took the opportunity to get rid of it once he left for a 3 month business trip and we finally hauled it away.

Then when we moved and we were sorting things out there was furniture that belonged to my Mom's side of the family that she refuse to let go of.

I on the other hand accept that everything has an expiration date unless you can upgrade it or find a new use for it... ..failing that it goes into the garbage.

I wouldn't call them hoarders of material things, necessarily. But what I've noticed (husband is a 2H Taurus Moon and his daughter is a 12H Cancer Moon) is that they can "hoard" a sense of security, any which way they can!

I don't even know if this makes sense. The thought process is not clear in my head yet so can't express what I want to say to 100%.

To me, and I'm a Cap Moon..they can seem stuck "in the Earth" and cling to it for dear life; collecting/hoarding everything and everyONE in their path. Won't matter if it's good or bad. The notion that someone or something can be far away and still be close, appears "strange" and does NOT equal stability/security.

Eating too much, spending too much money on items or having an unreasonable collection of things is also "hoarding".

Being a miser is reverse hoarding. You want to "preserve" money-especially if when you really need to spend, you get anxious.

In that the "value" is in the quantity more than quality. And perhaps the confusion of "the more I have(quantity)the better it is for me overall (quality)".

Can/Tau in the chart shows where we can stress about not "having" enough or have a fear of being without i.e being left in the cold, going hungry or not having our needs met etc.

I literally breath a sign of relief when there is money in my bank balance. Not that I will "use" it per se. But for it to just be sitting there gives me peace of mind (that is hoarding).

My 2nd house cusp is Taurus.

My Moon is in Cancer. When I was younger,I used to seriously dislike relatives coming yo visit.

The house was big enough to accommodate them. But regardless of that, I hated the fact that we had to "share" the space. It annoyed me. Even though the space was empty. I didn't want it "perturbed".🤷‍♀️

only the last example in the first bit is actual hoarding

if someone eats too much they're consuming not hoarding, same with spending

hoarding by nature is accumulation not waste

being a miser isn't reverse hoarding because it's accumulation and keeping things

I think it is more about the houses and the possession axis (2/8) being activated.

My dad hoards. He doesn’t like to buy stuff, but he NEVER throws anything away. Broken things, even bottle caps and empty envelopes… a house that’s too big for him… a troublesome car… old sneakers and clothes he never wears that have holes in them…

He has a Libra stellium in the 2nd house with Aries moon opposite, in the 8th. He hoards money too and won’t spend it on himself but practically lets his loved ones use him as a bank account. It’s a deep drive for security, but sharing his resources is his love language.

I have Taurus sun and Venus with Cancer AC and SN. I have some tendencies like my dad but not as bad. I have Jupiter in the 2nd and Saturn in the 8th. I have my collections and I tend to splurge, but they are specific things that I consider useful and high value (like books). But I will throw away junk mail and empty envelopes and much more than my dad!

The people I know who are the opposite - constantly throwing things away - one has Venus and Uranus in the 2nd and the other just has Mercury there. I can see both Mercury and Uranus as bringing more changeability to that area of life. Neither has a major planet in the 8th.

I don’t know how I would function if I didn’t have a space dedicated to potentially useful stuff for hypothetical projects. My partner, on the other hand, seems to accumulate stuff out of a poor sense of object permanence. This is definitely part of the struggle of living together - very different standards of what’s normal when it comes to losing, breaking, fixing vs. replacing, and just plain knowing what’s in the closet or attic before buying something. Our kids definitely know that he’s the one to ask for stuff. Maybe the Libra showing through on my end- I can remember one of them calling me out with “when you say maybe, it always means no!”

in placidus i have saturn in my 2nd and nothing in my 8th and i love throwing things away and hate holding onto most things etc

i own some books, houseplants, and have a small box of sentimental stuff as far as non useful stuff goes (though my book collection is largely grimoires, religious texts and botany books so mainly useful)

i'm not one for decorating aside from plants so i dont really own or seek out **** like that either

i guess i have a few guitars i don't use that i've been meaning to get rid of (because i only ever use one guitar so i don't need 4 though they're all different kinds of guitars so they're all for different **** ) but otherwise if i don't use it or it's not useful i don't want it

i find material possessions very suffocating and don't care about acquiring them really

oh have a tv i never use that i also need to toss at some point, forgot it even exists because it's in a loft and i never watch tv

if it wasn't in such a difficult to move place i probably would've tossed it by now

I have a sewing machine that I used to use a lot more than I do, and a whole bin full of clothes I think I’ll patch or started to make. Every once in a while I’ll buy something from a thrift store because I like the fabric, even if it doesn’t fit (silk, linen, wool, etc.)

I hold onto some things, and have times when I do a big clear- out. I’m trying to decide which books to give away, or put in a little free library. I’m holding onto favourites, books I haven’t read yet, and things like my mum’s books that survived my dad’s immediate purge. He’s the Taurus. I was upset when I found that he’d donated the large illustrated Wind in the Willows, that I bought her in 2014. Little Women, for her Mother’s Day, the year she died, went into her coffin. I had no damned idea what to do that day. It’s not like she was going to wake up and start reading. I texted a friend who lost her mum the year before, when I hid outside. I’m keeping her Water Babies book.

I keep things that are sentimental, practical, or fun. When I had journals, doing “morning pages” it was supposed to be brain-drain/venting, getting it out of the way every day, and I destroyed them after a while.

My Gemini grandmother was a hoarder. It drove my mum nuts. After she had her last child, she seemed to lose her energy, so mum would clean the house every weekend. There was a lot to clear out of the attic and attached garage, that had been my grandfather’s work area (he was a jeweler), when she died.

If I go anytime soon, I know who will get certain things, but I don’t have a lot.

I have some tendencies!

I have Mercury Taurus (ruling planet)
and
Jupiter Cancer house 2

But I will take time to tone it down.

Uranus transiting Taurus has been challenging me to have less like never before.
