Have you ever been close to, or in a relationship with someone who lacks the water element?

How does this play out?

I realised I only know one person who actually completely lacks water, and they are not easy for me to deal with, although I care about them.

In my experience, when someone has at least one planet or significant point in the element they lack - that can still be an important part of their lives and pretty obvious in their nature.

So I’m more curious about those who have a *total absence*.

How do they communicate feelings and how am I supposed to communicate with them?

PS. I hope you are all doing well and taking good care of yourselves in these crazy times! ❤️❤️❤️

My dad has 0 water planets in his chart. Ironically, he always plays victim. He has done so many bad things to multiple people, yet it is never his fault. He never takes into account how his actions affect the people around him, not even his children. My experience is that these people can be very selfish and lack empathy unless they are aware of it. It's not that they don't love you. More so, they find it hard to put themselves in someone else's shoes. So they rarely think about their actions. I am thankful that I have my singleton Cancer moon, although it is difficult for me to understand at times. Otherwise, I would turn out like my dad.

When it comes to communicating feelings, it really depends on their moon. I think my dad always found a way to make it about himself because he had Aries moon. I think it would be different for someone who had a different moon sign. I cannot say for sure how to communicate to an Aries moon. All I know is that they don't like to be comforted like a baby. I think they want you to inspire them or something. It really depends.

Hmm... Interesting ^^!!

I noticed similar behaviour Solar Queen... although I feel like this guy is making an effort to compensate, but it isn't really working.

His behaviour is very awkward when it comes to emotional things. For example, I told him there was a place I really liked... to make conversation - and instead of carrying a conversation with me - he was very quiet at the time... but the next day he drove half way across the country to take photos of that place :\

And I guess I was supposed to... thank him? *shrug* I don't really get it..

He is very earthy so I guess he is trying to show things through actions, when he isn't able to express those things.

Does your dad ever preach people on religious topics?

This is something else I noticed with the guy in my life.... His family is pretty religious (and also very watery, unlike him) and he seems to be trying very hard to "fit in" with them and impress them.... so he keeps quoting spiritual or biblical things.

There is nothing wrong with these quotes... but being pretty watery myself (wth my Pisces/Neptune influence) - it's kind of hard for me to read these things, while knowing that he has little understanding of the deeper meaning behind them.

:edit: ^^^ And.... also, if I ever tried to talk to him about this - I'm pretty sure that he would react in a defensive way and get extremely offended... because he actually thinks he "knows it all".. when it comes to his beliefs.

An ex has 0 water element; fire/air/earth in his chart.

According to my experience with the 0 water element, they don't let their feelings get away to what they are doing or saying, from positive perspective, it is what I admire as someone who likes being productive/busy all the time. My water element sometimes makes me shut everything down trying to deal with my own emotions when bad things happen. During that time I can't focus to everything and to everyone other than my own, it sucks.

How do they communicate feelings? I don't remember that my ex can communicate it, but he would listen. The last time I talked about feelings, he listened but responded with a joke (he's a Gemini moon/venus) trying to avoid or maybe he even didn't know how to communicate it, it made an impression that he was disconnected. Looks like lacks of empathy? Probably, but he does care to his friends and I see that he is MORE loyal to his friends than to his relationship.

I actually rarely talk about my feelings either, unless it's a serious problem, so a 0 water element person isn't a hard to deal with for me, it's even kind of a complementary for me to remind me to keep doing a job done even when I am dealing a tsunami inside. But I think they are better as a friend, my water element sometimes needs another water to comfort me without too much talking.

Neptune/Moon/Pluto double up as "water" in the chart. Whether on the angles or in aspect with personal planets-this especially Moon,Sun,Merc,Ven and Mars.

Moon on the angle can be "heart on sleeve". The square or opp being similar. Although with the latter, the emotional state is strongly dependent on company (7th).

Look at where these planets are to deduce where your Dad is likely emotive in his approach.

I would also suggest looking at what houses in his chart are ruled by water- these areas are more likely to be open to the intuitive/emotional flow. Probably more by environment than internally from him- also could be interesting to look at his progressed chart and see if/when any of his placements shift into water signs.

A guy I've mentioned, has water in his chart, but he was quoting a lot of religious stuff last year. He's toned it down a lot this year.

Do you still have my email?

not sure i count i lack any personal water planets, but my jupiter is in pisces and my pluto is in scorpio (my pluto falls in my first house in placidus and is sextile ny sun) cancer midheaven, my sun trines neptune too for whatever that's worth

i'm weird about my own feelings but generally speaking i'm usually pretty good at helping other people deal with theirs

i tend to be everyone's emotional dumping ground and then when it comes to myself i just sort of shut down and spend time alone to deal because i'm terrible with communicating my feelings and feel guilty having any

@Solar_Leo_Queen
my ex was like that and had a fair amount of water scorpio mercury/venus/pluto and pisces mars/jupiter

i think the whole water in a chart ='s empathetic by default idea people have doesn't seem to really hold weight

she was one of the least empathetic people i've ever known and an actual narcissist but plenty of water

a pisces heavy guy i know enjoys abusing others

some of the most abusive, selfish, cold people i've known have had water in their charts... just saying

i have an aries moon generally i like being distracted give me like 10 minutes to talk if i need to then make a joke or something and that works best for me

either that or do nothing i'll tire myself out and move on because i can only talk about my feelings for so long before i find it uncomfortable anyway and then i'll make the joke myself or go away

i'll stay up all night with someone else but that's not the same

I have to agree with this. Some of the meanest people I've met have tons of water (especially Pisces). I think being heavily water influenced can mean that these people have the ability to be empathetic but they can choose if they want to give you their empathy or not. And having such a good understanding of other people's pain doesn't necessarily mean they want to take their pain away. It can mean that they like to take their ability to read people to their advantage and manipulate others.

You are good at helping others. It could be an “earth” thing - I’m surrounded by people who are strong in earth, in some way. I’m earth-free, unless you count asteroids or progressions. (Or Saturn aspects.)

my ex could read people well but didn't exhibit actual empathy

i think people tend to confuse the ability to pick up on feelings with true empathy for another person and forget recognition of feelings isn't the same (studies on borderline personality disorder explain this better than i'm going to because the way people with that tend to understand emotion while not fully empathizing is a big part of the disorder) as actually being able to feel anything for another person or caring

i mean **** mengele and gacy both had more than one personal planet in pisces neither is the poster child for empathy and spiritual values

@teasel

it might be earth idk my personal placements are evenly split with every element that isnt water (earth sun/mars, fire mercury/moon, air venus/ascendant) and my kite is fire/air

i think it's placements and angles with my chart rather than a particular element that make me generally care but also take action (probably that my kite is on the ascendant/descendant axis with moon on the descendant and then the heavy libra influence which is partnership based)

I don't believe in holding someone's chart interpretation hostage to 'lack of' element. Interpret what IS there, not what is not. Besides, no one ever lacks an element in their charts. The elements start with the planets.

Sun, Mars, Jupiter = fire
(Mercury), Venus, Saturn = earth
Mercury, Uranus, Venus = air
Moon, Neptune, Pluto = water

Odette, more important than what this person's chart seems to lack is they synastry aspects theirs forms with yours. What you're describing is mainly a different mode of expression, which does have to do with elements as show in the signs. Often we are attracted to people who moderate our tendencies for excess. Therefore, persons who tend to over-emphasize feelings or the emotion of things will be attracted to more 'logical' or restrained persons who offer stability or left-brain responses.

Relationships are always about balance.

You described it well - being able to read people withouth empathising with them. I'm not a vicious person but I can hold back my empathy if that makes sense? I do that if I don't want to "invest" my empathy (sounds horrible) because I either am not in the mood energetically (the motivation is self preservation) or because I was so open with it in the past that I'm careful who I'm giving it to now. I think moon in the first house, that I have, tends to become more focussed on self throughout life anyway
