“The only times I would pay attention to an empty leg of a T-square is in synastry or with transits..moon phases »

Do you agree?

Because some people are saying the empty leg is where you’re meant to direct your energies for success (à la Oprah whose empty leg is in 5th)?

Next, for synastry would this mean one person’s planet falling in the other’s empty leg would give rise to a feeling of completion ? Or how else would synastry trigger the empty leg of at square?

And what is a Moon phase trigger ? The moon transiting over the empty leg ?

By empty leg you mean the release point of the APEX? You mean the opposite point of the planet that is squaring the two planets that are opposing each other?

"Since the square and opposition aspects are supposed to be “stressful BAD aspects”, beginners usually get terrified whenever they spot a T-Cross in a horoscope. Guess what? This configuration frequently appears in the charts of business leaders, corporation presidents, and other dynamic people. That’s because the stress is focused. Having a T-Cross is like sitting on a 3-legged chair. You know where the problem is, and that makes it easier to fix.
The planet that makes the square aspects with the opposing planets gets emphasized. We say that it is in Point Focus.

That means it gains in importance when you are interpreting the chart. However, in my experience, being in Point Focus is not as strong as being singleton.

If one of the other planets in the T-Cross happens to be the only one in a particular element, quality, or house type, it will have a greater effect than the Point Focus planet

The way out of the potential problems that all those stress aspects can cause is indicated by the empty leg. After all, a T is like a cross with a missing piece.

All you have to do is draw a line completing the cross and see the house and sign where it lands. That’s the area of your life where the solution can be found."

so Yes the Empty Leg or release point is the solution or missing piece that helps you integrate the challenge of the tsquare.

"The Focal Planet

A t-square is like a pressure cooker of energy, edginess, and stress. It symbolizes facets of ourselves which are at odds with one another. As the central player, the focal planet is this configuration’s dynamic point of release and resolution; it’s where the seesaw polarization of the opposition can manifest in a concrete way. It offers a powerful solution to the pent-up tension. The sign and house placement of this planet is usually expressed vividly and repeatedly in the life story. It can sometimes be overemphasized by its owner to the point where the nature of the opposition is ignored, putting great stress on the affairs of the focal planet in a person’s life.
Other Considerations

Look for a “release” aspect — one that is foreign to the configuration (e.g., a trine from the focal planet). This will show a constructive “way out” of a set pattern or a way to avoid any compulsive behaviour associated with the t-square. It may bring an opportunity/ lucky situation (trine) to that particular “script.” I would include the angles — the Ascendant, Descendant, Midheaven (MC), and IC — as focal points, but these would reveal how the opposition has been impacted by (and will impact) a specific environment, as shown by the particular axis. I think the importance of the missing leg of a t-square (the space oppo- site the focal planet) is sometimes overemphasized by astrologers. It is interesting in the sense that every focal planet will have a polar opposite sign, and such a lopsided focus on the focal planet’s zodiac sign would necessitate a rebalancing of the polarity."

^^For me a release aspect and the missing leg are both key in helping me integrate my Tsquare.

I would even say that in my case my release aspect is like a portal to my missing my leg, is the key to opening the door to my missing leg, it gives me easy access to my missing leg.

That’s a nice way of putting it, Hypatia238 😊

Could there be/have you known any ‘activation’ or further resolution through synastry ? As in a partner’s planet completing the empty leg or making an aspect ?

Or is a T square very much a personal battle?

Does your Progressed chart also give you « a way out » of the T square through the shifted planets ?

Actually my missing Leg has DC in Gemini which sextiles my release aspect that is how my release aspect connects me to my missing leg.

The progressed chart can activate a missing leg in your natal yes and this would be a window for working through the tsquare, When Progressed Moon fell exact on my DC which is my missing LEG I met someone and this relationship forced me to neutralize a lot my neptune which is on my AC and my Pisces/Virgo axis which are part of my Tsquare and were my sun opposite Moon fall. This relationship was a turning point for me working through my Tsquare and pushing my t-square to grow and mature.
