I'm trying to find the most accurate house system for me and I've started to try out whole-sign, based mostly on the fact that my placidus houses get a bit messed up by my northern location.

I still haven't decided what's best, but I seem to gravitate to either Whole, Equal, or Placidus.

Opting for Whole before the others per default since I've decided to begin the investigation from a traditional perspective (also abandoning house rulers in the process) - but like I said I haven't come to a conclusion.

My question for you is, based on below two charts, what would you ask me in order for me to rule out one system in favor of the other?

Hi Nomad-monad! Good to see you again.

Here's an article, that uses graphics to describe what happens.

Quadrant Houses at High Latitudes

He mentions David Cochrane, and provides a link to youtube of his.

Personally, I like Placidus.
Whole House shifts planets into other houses, which can change the whole way that planet is described, and pertains TO another area of life.

Your placidus 11th House stellium "reads" in the 10th House for Whole Houses.

I was going to say that your Saturn moves from 6th House to 7th with Whole House... but, it's ON the Descendant, so, you'd read both. LOL

I know that folks who study the ancient form of astrology called Hellenistic, have a preference for Whole House.

To me, it just changes the meanings too much.

Hi Mirage!

Well the main reason for opting for whole-sign, is that my stellium fits way better in 10th than in 11th.

I could also see Equal as better than Placidus here - stellium is better in 9th than 11th, and Venus on the cusp to 10th could be reasonable as a culmination point.

In addition, Moon in 2nd resonate better than in 3rd.

Those things being said, I am open to reconsider if I find the right arguments to do so.

I am curious what people have to say/ask about MC on the cusp to 9th whole sign, and IC opposite on cusp to 3rd.

(And thanks for the link - will look into it)

Theoretically, a full analysis of your natal chart should produce the same interpretation/conclusion no matter which house system is used. ... What would differ is the specific astrological indicators in each of them that (when synthesised) produce the conclusion.

So ... you need to identify events arising from progressions and transits to (say) your Pisces stellium ... to determine if these are of a 10th or 11th house nature.

For example ... what happened when transit Saturn made conjunctions to that stellium, from February 1994 to December 1995? ... School activity - or social activity?l

I vouch for Whole, atleast for my chart..similar reason as mirage stated above, my stellium fits way better at the 5th than 4th.

No one can give you an accurate answer for your specific chart based on the comparison as you've presented it. To attempt to do so would be based on mere subjective personal preference and would not be directed by any of the criteria needed for precision accuracy.

House systems are tri-sections of the quadrant-based (Asc to MC arc) mundane sphere by either a time or space-based method. Whole sign is not a house system because it simply avoids the matter all together, substituting zodiac signs. In other words, it is an easy way out. Perfectly fine if that's what you choose to do, it's your chart. But it does not address the time-space geometry of the purpose of actual house systems.

Placidus is the most accurate house system. I have compared it for many years to other house systems like Koch and Polich-Page and it outshines them all with precise, culminating progressed aspects to appropriate house cusps for corresponding major life events. Few astrologers ever undertake such comparisons with such precision or even know how to use declinations to do checks using the full 3D of the sky. Placidus withstands the rigor of the demands of my rectification work.

No house system will deliver nice neat houses divisions at polar latitudes. Having neat, even house divisions is not the purpose.

No house system can produce any more accuracy than the accuracy of the Asc of the natal chart in question. That is not guaranteed with even an AA rated birth data and time recorded to the minute. So this is a very advanced astrological matter. Those functioning at the novice or intermediate level will not be able to approach this issue and address the complexity of it for a reliable outcome.

The answer to house system accuracy for the individual seeking the most precisely accurate chart and interpretation is to make sure the Asc is pinpoint accurate, preferably to the minute of arc. Even an adjustment of 2-3° to get that pinpoint accuracy can mean a total shift of house lines as to sign/planet rulers, interceptions, etc.
