Hardest? I would imagine Moon in the 8th wouldn't be very much fun.... That's of course if we're talking about the house and not the actual sign of Scorpio since Moon in Scorpio isn't much fun either. My Dad is a Moon in Scorpio. Thank God for my Taurus Venus. Oh and I can attest to Sun in the 8th not being much fun either. I hate this placement. I want to be hidden but I feel like I can't hide and my emotions are on display for everyone. These to me in my opinion are some of the hardest for the 8th. I'm also a Mercury in the 8th and while I will say that I like having an investigative mind, I feel a lot of times I go way too deeply into things and people don't understand me, although I wouldn't really label this placement as "difficult" though, it can just be annoying for others. Not sure on the others. Also, a lot of 8th house aspects have a hard time divulging or explaining how they feel or they don't even want to at all. I understand Scorpio energy well and Scorpio is my favorite sign in general.

Just a fun fact. Emma Watson, Hermione off of Harry Potter, is a Mercury in the 8th house. I found this out the other day since I too was researching the 8th house a little and I do quite a bit. You can see it in Emma's eyes. Another bit on Scorpionic energy is that you can capture (with experience of course) or have a good guess as to what placement an individual has by looking at their eyes. Jessica Simpson I believe is a Venus Conjunct Pluto if I'm not mistaken and she also has some very intense eyes. I'm also a Pluto in the first house, so was Abraham Lincoln, and he has intense eyes as well. I'm very similar to that. While not all placements are "difficult," they are certainly very intense and deeeeep.

I have my Moon/Venus/SN on the cusp, and I don't think of them as difficult. That may be because they sextile Jupiter and trine Pluto (widely).

I don't like the fact that the transiting North Node is in mine for about eighteen months, though. That worries me a bit. I remind myself that it isn't just about death - it's about finances, and *depth*.

*edit. Actually, maybe that is why I can be prone to depression. I can sometimes relate to Marvin in the HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy:

"I wish you'd just tell me rather trying to engage my enthusiasm because I haven't got one."

“The first ten million years were the worst. And the second ten million: they were the worst, too. The third ten million I didn’t enjoy at all. After that, I went into a bit of a decline. ”

I'm not as lighthearted as I could be, but that hasn't always been true.

I'm looking at the progressed charts. Thank you, those descriptions are very helpful too!

Oh, I'm sorry. No, I am talking about natal.

ParrellelToucan,
No, it was absolutely helpful. I just meant in progress I wondered which energies might have been cause for anyone to note it was a particular tough period. Thank you for sharing with me your 8th experience.

Moon, Saturn are more challenging in the 8th house than most other planets.

Moon there places one's basic receptive energies and emotional investment into the place of others' resources, sexual interest from others, etc. That's not internally anchored or freed for more immediate response to what is more often evident upon casual interactions at the surface.

Saturn there places one's sense of control and responsibility (inhibition) in the same place. Not really things best under the control of the individual and tends to delay or complicate appropriate merging when the time has come.

It's about more than death.

Thanks for confirming this for me. I had a feeling Moon in the 8th is maybe a walk in Hell. Didn't even think about Saturn though...
