I'm the declinations guy, so my experience with declinations is pretty expansive. I could easily overload your mind, but I'll try not to do that. I can certainly answer any questions you may have.I use declinations constantly in everything I do with astrology. I never leave them out. They are absolutely necessary in doing consistently accurate rectification work, and in tracking energies and windows of opportunity in trends/transits. Just this past weekend I had a transit of Mars parallel natal Jupiter that gave me an energy boost for a couple days hard gardening until I was worn out. Mars was already past its sextile to my natal Sun and square to natal Mars, so there was no other aspect (in longitude) that would suggest such activity level. It was the transiting parallel to natal Jupiter that was still applying.
I have Mars 21N55 parallel MC 22N45 and while I'm driven once I'm activated towards an objective, it certainly doesn't produce the most pronounced effects in me given my strongly Venusian, Taurus nature. It's enough to keep me generally motivated to do achieve something. When I was younger I wanted to be an athlete and was a runner for a couple years. I just didn't have the physical constitution for it.
I also have Chiron 5N31 parallel Asc 5N02 in Virgo and I've been intent on helping people heal since I was about 19. In the 90s interned with the woman I consider the best Naturopathic Doctor in the U.S. Herbal medicine, healing, and astrology are strong abiding interests. I keep an inventory of herbs and make extractions for my household and those in my community that I help.
When I was married 9 years ago my prog Sun was 22N41 in the culmination zone parallel natal MC; prog Jupiter (co-ruler of 7th) was at 8S56, <22.5°> natal Sun 13N35; and the quotidian 'true' prog DC was within 1° of exact parallel with natal Pluto.
