Hey everyone, I'm giving away my age here, but I had a tough second Saturn square at age 21 and am now approaching (in a couple years) my first Saturn Return. I am SO SCARED! I'm wondering about others' experiences and advice? Is the return harder than the square?

I'm also wondering if you can predict what might happen during the return by the placement and aspects Saturn makes. What are your placements, and what did you experience?

Mine is in Aquarius in the 8th house. It squares my Pluto (3') and loosely squares my sun (6'), but sextiles my Mercury (2'). I am worried about losing an elderly parent. I also hope to make a career transition around that time.

I'd love to hear everyone's experiences!

I was reading something about Saturn in the 8th house because I was thinking that mine is there.

It gives you a long life. Like it saves you everytime and has a great power to overcome hard times.

Mine was awful and the worst time of my life. I'm almost 32 and still in recovery mode. Saturn return happens at age 29-30.

My Saturn return was a lot of work I gave birth to my first child and my Saturn is in the tenth house. It was difficult to work because I wanted to nurse my baby and be with her. I think it challenges the house it’s in. Its related to karma and that house is the areas we are challenged in this life. It was a very difficult time but more having to do with the work of taking care of a baby by myself. I will say that later in life I had more difficult experiences than my Saturn return though when I ended up in an abusive relationship. Saturn was in my twelfth house and Uranus was in my seventh house. Saturn is a teacher and shouldn’t be feared, embrace the struggle you will be stronger from it if you make the right decisions and face the challenges. Your soul knows what it needs to do to grow. Saturn also shows what we are afraid of and in your eighth house you may be afraid of the life and death process. Follow your inner voice and dont be afraid of anyone dying we all are here for a limited time. Saturn wants you to face your fears.

The first cycle of saturn is the easiest imo. You are still growing, so worrying will only attract negativity your way. The more you age, it can get more difficult, but thats the way of life anyway.

I completely agree with you, the goal of astrology is absolutely not to live in fear.
The message of Saturn at the age of 21?
It is to take these responsibilities and fly away to make a beautiful and long journey.
It's like the baby bird in the nest that he has to leave to travel the world

You’re still a couple of years away? No need to worry about it right now.

I just finished my Saturn Return (I’m in my late twenties if that gives you an idea). *knocks on wood* I haven’t lost anyone yet. I’ve lost a few relationships and gained some better friends but that’s about it. Unfortunately you’ll know when you get to your Saturn return because everything, from your work to your family to your relationships will become demanding and you’ll struggle to juggle it all. But you will be able to. That’s the important thing to know. You have everything that you need mentally and emotionally to weather the storm.

My Saturn Return is almost over (natal Saturn @ 25* Capricorn) and I have an extremely Saturnine chart. In spite of that, let me tell you, it absolutely f*cking sucks and is as dreadful as everyone says it is.

Truthfully some wonderful things have happened though, but it all still feels like a heavy burden? Maybe things would be lighter if this wasn't happening under quarantine/civil unrest and transit Pluto wasn't sitting on my natal Saturn right now as well.

Everyone who has lived to age 30 has made it through their Saturn return. If Saturn return were such a damaging transit the whole world would see it in the masses at or just prior to age 30. So don't believe the fear-based hype.

Fear will neutralize your ability to learn and make good decisions from and through the transits. So setting aside fear is more important than any astrologically based ideas we can exchange here. Everyone loses their elderly parents. Tell yourself when that time comes you'll know what to do to seal their lifetime with love.

The Saturn return is about taking an accounting of your life, what are your best priorities, and whether your goals are really your own aspirations or something pressed upon you by parents, insecurity, etc; your sense of responsibility, at least for the next several years, will be defined in some ways.

It also does NO good to look ahead 2 years with apprehension at a single transit.

What is happening in your chart's transits now? That is more important.

Sashavittoria ..
Are you basing your current fear of the Return, on the experiences you had during the Saturn square Saturn period of time?

The Saturn square Saturn while in early 20s is designed to help you. In your childhood and teen years you set up some values for yourself that were accumulated and impressed-upon you through relatives and friendships. At ~19 to 21, your task is to 'choose' for your self, WHICH value to keep as "your own." You can keep anything that works for you, and your life and personality.

Like Kannon said too-- there are co-occurring other transits happening in your chart. You get assistance from beneficial Uranus transits simultaneously, during your 20s also.
And don't forget Jupiter.

During your early to mid 20s, you are also still collecting experiences for your developing 'emotional bank.'

Saturn always represents times of 'testing' in order to show you any weakness AND your strengths.

Another one of the characteristics of that transit can be 'self-doubt'.

IF that is something needing to be shored up in you, then this is part of what you need to work on. What can happen is that people (like bosses) will subconsciously be sensing any vibes of insecurities and doubts, then {subconsciously} you-then start to pick up on their responses. You get a reverberation going on.

Some transits can have a kind of demoralizing effect.
It's a test of what's really important to you.
Helps you identify what it is you truly want.

When I meet people who are not astrological, and they have told me their age-- and, they have been in their First Saturn Return years, I will tell them about the effects of the time period they are living through. Afterwards, I have had some people be so grateful that I identified some of the things going on in their life {that they were confused was occurring}. When I say "It Is a TEST", then it seems to help them. Gives courage.

I use the analogy of an operators switchboard. Say that they are being tested.

{Okay!! At least, in the olden days!!! }

In businesses, they had a receptionist who would handle incoming calls THROUGH a large square instrument with dozens of lights. It was the time of the invented electronic-tech switchboards. When calls came in, there would be a series of lights that would come on, and off, as incoming/outgoing calls were managed through the instrument.

From time to time, a switchboard representative would visit.

They would TEST the board, to make sure everything worked AS it was designed to.

Saturn.. is like the representative who comes in, and TESTS the whole board.

Saturn Return.. you will be final-tested over sets of issues.
It is designed, again, to demonstrate your strengths, and, show you what you STILL have to work on, for yourself.

For example, if you have to take a Cardio Test,
they will 'work you OUT' until you think you're gonna die?!! {if not in best shape}…

It's an overall TEST.
You can't 'cram' for it.

Think more along the lines of an Achievement Test?

At the END of your Saturn Return--
You have Graduated into astrological official "adulthood".

So---
The other part of Saturn Returns IS making some big Achievements in your life. Having Milestones.

During the span of mine,---
The GOOD STUFF

Got married.
Had my first child DURING the rx of the Return.
Bought our first house
.. during month of a FM Eclipse, Sun cj Saturn.
Uncovered a talent, reached the start of public success in what I was doing {on the side}.
Husband was valued for his talents and was in demand.
We started a business together, and quadrupled our income.

Saturn rx Scorpio
opp Venus Taurus H5
square Pluto Leo H8canc
trine H8 Cancer cusp and Vesta

My Saturn Return was very peaceful and uneventful. It was the only time of my life that was peaceful. I would give anything for my Saturn Return to last forever!

There's really no way you can predict what will happen in great detail. You can look at the house Saturn is in, which might give you some vague clues about the lessons your Saturn Return should teach you. However, even then it doesn't mean much. My Saturn Return was in my 10th house. Nothing stood out regarding my career or any aspect of my life. There was zero turbulence.

What you should focus on now is working hard to achieve [b]your[.b] goals. Make sure they are your goals and not your parents' goals. Figure out what you want out of life. Is the path your choosing going to help you reach your goal? What makes you happy? What are your strengths? Your weaknesses? Are you in a dead-end relationship? Do you have toxic friends? If so, now is the time to clean out the "closet." You don't need to wait until you are 28 or 29 to start making changes. Make them now so you don't need to suffer later.

Be honest with yourself. If you need to change your career, then do it now. It's must easier to switch paths when you are in your 20s than when you are in your 30s.

Hi
I survived round 1 of Saturn return.
Leading up to it I got my dream job, but also a college student.
While trying to keep up with social and family obligations. I can feel very tried and spread thin.

Dreams comes true, tested, good times, and as well as being down right miserable.

The worst of my Saturn return was October-February. My Saturn is 24 degrees in Capricorn.

I will say it is easy having planets in Capricorn 9-17 degrees 27-30 where it doesn't square or oppose anything in my chart. But the beginning of 2020 was seriously all these Capricorn planets doing a gang bang on my Aries Sun. It was spirit breaking. The end of January I was pushed so to my limit, that I got super sick for the first time in 5 years. I had to take 3 days off of work.
With Saturn and Pluto here squaring my Sun Sign (and probably other planet) I have experienced serious head butting with my boss. I shrugged it off my first year since I was new to the place. But when I was still getting certain treatments and approaches in my second year, I was like 'okay enough, you can go away when I'm trying to work.'

My boss is going though the Saturn Pluto square too as a Libra....and this transit seriously brings out THE WORST in each other!

So I think it depends on what else you have in your chart natally. As well as what other transits are going on.

I had a lot of cool things happen around this time. BUT I will say working with my boss was the worst thing of all in 2019 and 2020.
I felt so guilty about having a sense of relief about the schools closing down so I did not have to deal with her difficult behavior 5 days a week.
Things did slightly improve working with her in Fed/March I will say. But she is still an effing high strung f-tard.

You know what, Jupiter squared my Sun when the schools here shut down. So for me it was some screwed up luck. And paranoia that I manifested this to happen. (which is ridiculous I know)

Another thing I have been really working is having boundaries with people. I was a teacher assistant for 8 years. Assistants have it made typically, they get their kid fix and don't have to take any work home with them.
When I became the teacher, I still had people asking me to babysit, pet sit, and care for my grandma. etc. I had to establish better boundaries, and people had to adjust.

Oh....and out of nowhere(?) one of my friends became overly attached and extra needy! I have been working working working on boundaries boundaries boundaries with this person. It sucks I experienced 3 years of this person being fun and normal towards me. It's totally running its course. She borderline stalks me. And when I establish a boundary she tests it to see if I really mean it.

Oh and sometimes I feel bitter about getting along with women that are older than me. It just seems like at times if I am nice and not bossy towards them or others, they take it as 'that must mean I want to be bossed around and told what to do' Noooo I don't tell people what to do because I don't like being told what to do. I guess I'll just be a b!+(h, since you can't handle me being polite.
Yep jadedness can possibly happen.

With Saturn in my 9th house I am finally reaping areas of my life that have not been easy like travel, and outstanding grades. That's the part I like about it.

I also got engaged in March!

I marvel in my accomplishments.
Then other times everything that I haven't achieved yet can really get to me.

I've worked too hard, and I need my living space to show that. That will probably happen next year.

Anyways I am enjoying the cool off of my first Saturn return. Doing what I can to prepare for round 2 in the fall.

I also had a life changing experience on an airplane. I sat next to this religious nut for two hours. After that I decided that I do not have to be so polite and tolerant to biggots, and that it is okay to not talk to people on airplanes. lol

Wish you well!

So sorry for the loss of your Mother, Victonpearlman.

It's amazing 'how much' the death of a parent impacts you, no matter how prepared in advance you are, no matter how old they were, or how feeble.

Be kind to your self...
Takes layers upon layers of time to Heal from that kind of loss.

I LOVE what you said in your last paragraph..
What a beautiful way to honor her memory.

Thank you everyone for your openness and amazing responses! I love everyone's messages of not to fear and to stay strong. I really appreciate it! Such beautiful messages from all. Thank you. In fact... I'm almost looking forward to my Return now! (See last paragraph.)

It sounds like Saturn aspects to outer planets also had a huge impact on everyone, in some cases more so than the return. I need to get better at looking at transits... And it also seems like, at least for some, you get to reap the rewards once this transit is over!

Kannon, you made me tear up, thank you so much. <3 Much love to you.

<3 So much love for this, Cappy. You are a strong person, I can't believe you went through all that by yourself. Your perspective makes you so strong.

teasel, so strange and interesting about the migraines too.

mee_chryssa, how funny, our charts sounds similar according to this and other threads. What you say about Saturn in the 8th has been very true for me - lots of near-death experiences where I was saved. Crazy!

mirage, what an amazing response. I completely agree with all that you said, and love this 'emotional bank' idea, I will be keeping it! Thank you. You're right, self-doubt was definitely the main theme of my Saturn square. And I LOVE that idea of the switchboard representative coming to test! That's a brilliant analogy. It's crazy how much happened during yours - and during the retrograde! Congratulations! It's like you have these astrological "battle scars" you can proudly show now! lol

Stawr, so interesting, I have heard from multiple people their paranoia that they are somehow personally responsible for the virus and/or quarantine. I wonder if there is some way people did collectively will it to happen, or put those vibes out... I have been learning about the astrological aspects of it too, it's fascinating. I definitely feel you on the boundaries and jadedness too. (I have also had issues recently with my boss who is a woman 20ish years older than me.) Congratulations on your engagement!!! Wow, it does sound like once the Saturn Return passes you get to reap the benefits as you say... that's so lovely and amazing! And LOL at your airplane experience. Kindness > politeness!

victonpearlman, I'm so sorry for your loss. Your mother sounds like she was strong and wise and taught you well. mirage is so right, even if you see it coming, it's like you can't be prepared.

With my north node in Capricorn, I am struggling (fighting!) to become an adult. I feel my circumstances have held me back from that in so many ways. I was scared of my Saturn return but thanks to everyone on this thread I am actually looking forward to it now!!! I think, "When you come, Saturn, I will be ready and I'll show you what an adult I am!" I will make Saturn proud! lol! So much love and grace to you all. It's been so rewarding to read your stories and I hope people continue adding their own experiences to this thread. The Saturn cycles are so interesting.

over-achievers???

Thanks for such a lovely reply, sashavittoria.

Philosophically --
Have you ever watched a developing tree?
Does the tree grunt, and fight, and strain to grow-- or even, when it brings forth fruit?

You obviously work VERY hard on yourself.
If your intention is "already" towards being and becoming your best self, then it HAS been happening all along.

You are a loved child of the Universe.
How could Saturn not think of you as star pupil?

Cut yourself some slack sometimes.
Give self credit for how FAR you've come.
You already have known some of the challenges-- it's OKAY to 'own' your successes too. Just because sometimes you might not always 'feel' as though you've made progress, you most-likely probably HAVE. Do your best, and allow Time to do the rest.

Be Gentle and Kind with your self

mirage, thank you so much for your kind words. They are exactly what I have been needing to hear, and what I have been trying to tell myself. I think it is hard to see the goal and also see how you're still being held back from it, due to forces beyond your control, and to know that you still have to "go through the motions" of getting there. Your analogy about the tree is perfect... I can't thank you enough for your kind words. <3 I am going to copy and save them for myself to look it on a difficult day!
