It occurred to me that as someone with a fourth house Venus, I'm really not a family-person. I like them but I moved away to be independent, and don't spend every waking minute of spare time devoted to creating a magical childhood for my son. We do fun things together and I put his feelings first wherever possible. But when I compare it to my sister, who is constantly taking her children to fun hotels and creating magical experiences, I basically look like a terrible mother. My Venus is in gemini in the 4th house, exactly conjunct my sun/moon midpoint, trine ascendant and square Saturn. Hers is in cancer, conjunct vertex, but in the 8th house. Anyone else have a planet in the 4th house that doesn't behave like you might expect it to? How does your Venus behave in its house?

The 4th house isn't always necessarily about family. But what your sense of "community" is.Venus in Gemini suggests that you enjoy exchanging ideas, learning new things and interacting with people who stimulate you with new ideas and perspectives. When in the 4th house however (the lowest part of the chart), it may suggest that you often keep your thoughts and words to yourself. Or only share your opinion with a handful of people. With Venus there, those who are privy to that are typically those who know you more intimately or live with you. Perhaps people don't know how talkative you can get or how wide your imagination stretches because you are so quiet? Look for the cusp of Taurus/Libra in your chart. Those areas of life are likely to be kept very private and personal. IP: Logged |

4th House Venus in Taurus here.I use to be a lot closer when I was younger. As I got older I learned you can't depend on family and your better off just doing things yourself. When you need them they can't help you and when they want something from you its not an equal exchange. Over the weekend my aunt was expecting me to spend the entire day with her in exchange for a box of tomatoes. I'm thinking are you serious? I'd be happy to help when I have free time but right now I have other priorities. She was also expecting me to open up and fix her her TV.. I told her no way!!! there's a risk of electrocution. That's just Part 1 I could write a comedic novel about the rest of my family. Anyway there not worth the time bothering anymore. My Planets ========================================= ☉‘ ♊, ☽ ♈, ASC ♑, ☿ ♊, ¡÷ ♉, ¡ö ♋ , ♃ ♒, ♄ ♏, ♅ ♐, ♆ ♑ IP: Logged |

That's a remarkably on the money description Aries23 thank you! I am very aware that people think they know me (leo moon lol) but actually there are very very few people who do. Incidentally, the one who currently knows the real me the most has his North Node exactly conjunct my Venus, and his DC conjuncts my IC (4deg). My favourite people to hang out with are ones I can discuss big things with, but it takes a long time to work out if I can trust them enough to feel safe (4th house). I often feel judged by my family and so instinctively push back from them - as a kid I wouldn't confide in my mum, for example. My Taurus and libra cusps are on the 3rd and 8th - which again makes sense.

DualGemV2 there's definitely something about not agreeing on value exchange!Maybe there's something in the idea that Venus in the 4th encourages self-reliance? IP: Logged |

Exactly. Hence why Sagittarius Moon Scott Disick can’t let go of Kourtney no matter how hard he tries, or whoever he dates; because she is the mother of his offsprings IP: Logged |

I have venus in Aries in the 4th house. My venus is also at 29.5 degrees and opposes pluto in scorpio.I'm very family-oriented, but quite independent. I moved across the country at 23 to begin a new life. I didn't know anyone in my new city, so that was very scary. The odd thing is that although I'm close to my family, I have never been homesick. Even as a child, I never experienced homesickness despite being away from home for the first time at 8 years old. IP: Logged |
