What should I set the orbfact to when looking at harmonic charts? Does the orb change with each harmonic?

John Addey recommended* 12 degrees for the conjunction, then dividing this by the harmonic number.

So ... opposition = 2H = 12 divided by 2 = 6 degree orb (for oppositions)

... trine/3H = 4 degree orb ... square/4H = 3 degree orb ... quintile/5H = 2 deg 24min orb ... sextile/6H = 2 degree orb ... septile = 1 deg 42 min 51 sec orb ... octile/8h = 1 deg 30 min orb ... 9H = 1 deg 20 min orb ... 10H = 1 deg 12 min orb ... 11H = 1 deg 5 min 27 sec orb ... 12H = 1 degree orb.

This works ok up to the 30th Harmonic (30H) ... but tighter orbs are needed for harmonics higher that the 30H.

At astro.com though, I think the orbs cannot be changed to those recommended by John Addey ... So, use an orb factor that produces a 3 degree orb for all aspects ... That way, the square aspects in H1 to H30 are correct - and it is not difficult to mentally increase/decrease the orbs for conjunctions, oppositions, trines and sextiles.

[Note : These orbs apply to all harmonic charts form H1 to H30. ... Thus, a natal opposition has an orb of 6 degrees in the natal/H1 chart - but it has a 12 degree orb in the H2 chart, because it becomes a conjunction (in that chart).]

For those with Windows 10, the free Astrocalc software program uses John Addey recommended orbs in its Harmonics module.

This should of course be "an orb factor that produces an orb of 3 degrees for all aspects" ... and I have now corrected the error in my earlier comment.
