I just noticed this in my current transits and wondered what it meant - it could be anything but here’s a specific example: the sun is currently making a harmonious aspect to my natal Mercury (sextile), but Mercury is currently making a tense aspect to my natal sun (square). How should one interpret something like that?Again it doesn’t have to be this specific example (transit sun sextile natal Mercury + transit Mercury square natal sun) - I’m wondering how you interpret two simultaneous transits that seem to contradict one another. Sometimes the so called "good" and the so called "bad" are felt simultanously. You may have it easy on one aspect, while having it hard on another. Check the houses involved for a more detailed understanding.IP: Logged |

In reality, a complex and sophisticated process is involved in analysing, interpreting and synthesising conflicting astrological indicators ... as explained in detail by Terry Dwyer in How to Write an Astrological Synthesis ... http://www.skylarkbooks.co.uk/Shop/media/How-to-Write-an-Astrological-Synthesis-Terry-Dwyer.htm Generally, hard aspects (squares and oppositions) will be "felt" more strongly than soft aspects (sextiles and trines - and aspects involving hard planets (Mars/Saturn/Uranus/Pluto) will be "felt" more strongly than those involving soft planets (Venus/Jupiter/Neptune); whilst those involving the Sun or Moon will invariably create an event that is noticed by others (but may not be noticed by the chart owner). Specifically though, much depends upon what is "promised" in the natal chart (by all planets participating in the transit or/and progression). ... For example, a Venus transit/progression will not bring romance if natal Venus is focused upon a Taurus/2nd house objective of "becoming a self-made billionaire" rather than upon a Libra/8th house objective of "marrying a wealthy partner". Thank you all for the bump and responses! And thank you very much for the book link, Graham. I'm really perplexed that aspects "involving the Sun or Moon will create an event that is noticed by others (but may not be noticed by the chart owner)." I wonder why this is... I will look into that book. And I did not consider the "promises" (I love that!) of the natal chart. Thank you!! Such quick and brilliant insight by all.IP: Logged |

The sun governs how we express ourself ... The moon governs how we express our feelings ... Both are very apparent to others, but few people have the self-awareness to recognise these instinctive behaviours in themself.
