I thought I knew who I am but when I get the questions requiring to ask about myself:

Describe yourself
Give me 3 words that describes you
Why do you like this?
What makes you happy? sad?

I don't have the answers. It's like I felt uncertain or distance with myself. Sometimes I answer thinking I'm certain but then waking up the next day feeling I describe myself the wrong way like when you wake up realizing you answer the quiz question wrong. They're simple questions from what I observe but somehow it's hard for me to find words that concretely describe me. I don't want to feel like I am lying to others, so I just go "I don't know but I think _____" or people says "______"

Do you relate to this? I like to hear your life experience if this is you too and how are people responding to this. What in the chart that you think plays this?

For me I think it could be my sun/moon opposition by sign. I can feel conflicted with myself. Sometimes I think I feel this way because of one reason and realize the next it's not. Then I start feeling unsure.

I think maybe it could be my Neptune sq. Sun or even Libra Moon (that indecisiveness). Yeah I am confused my life. It's not a problem until I live my life on auto pilot.

I hope my words are clear and translate well what I am thinking.

Hey!

I get this strange questions all the time when I have an interview or meet someone new.

In my opinion, this questions are not something that allows you to know someone.

For example, if someone asks me what your favorite movie is, I can't answer, I have tons of movies that are on that list and I can't decide which one is the most favorite of them all.

"Describe yourself in three words." I can't describe myself in three words. I'm not a three words person. I can't say a thing that defines me fundamentaly that sums up to three words.

This are questions that don't help anyone to know a person. Are more small talk questions.

In my opinion. I just don't like being asked this type of questions.

As placements in the natal chart, might be that I'm pisces sun and cancer ascendant.

Hi mee_chryssa!

I'm not a fan of small talks either *points to self* introverted. I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking they are strange questions. The What is your favorite movie is also another question I don't have answers for. I dont seem to remember movies or tell myself "this is going to be my favorite movie" if that make sense. It would be wow this movie is good but I wouldnt know why I like it.

Yeah, imagine being asked in an interview "what you do in your free time?" and what I do is sleep and be lazy, but I can't say that because they will asume I'll be lazy at work too, and having to lie ))

I don't like them at all..

At one phone interview, they asked me what I didn't like about myself... like why would it matter?? If you are looking for the perfect employee, you're not going to find it.

You know better a person by how they speak, how they express themselves. This type of questions are superficial and changeable, as time passes.

As a rule of thumb, the answers should relate to the job (but things like office politics and certain personality types in charge--like that political bully boss or some airy fairy new age type that wants "only positive vibrations"--can alter what they're looking for). I'll think of 3 examples for "describe yourself in 3 words" when applying for the following jobs:

Firefighter: Dedicated, detail-oriented, helpful

Sales: ambitious, persuasive, self-starter

Lifeguard: alert, strong, focused

Yeah, it's superficial and easily gamed, but it also cuts down on a lot of rambling and wasting an interviewer's time with useless information who also wants the process to be over with. They're not actually trying to get to know you (as if it were a date), but how well you'll fit in and work out (and if you don't it makes them look bad to their superiors as well).

As for what you don't like about yourself, well that can be to weed out the egomaniacs, but the answers that usually work is something like "I get so focused I lose track of time." This assumes they WANT you to put in overtime for free, but if they have strict policies on how long you work (because they're prevented from getting you to work for free) then something like, "I don't get out enough as I don't like going to the club." That says you're not likely to call in with hangovers and that you can be called in unexpectedly when someone calls in sick and they need someone else fast. Naturally, they'll be displeased if that turns out to not be the case.

You shouldn't talk bad about the place you work at now or previously in the interview as human resources get real nervous about people who make waves (and might say the same about their company later). I've read of a cop who couldn't even get hired again after she exposed heinous child sex operations which busted other cops and the officials that directed them. When they say they want integrity, what they really mean is that they don't want to be sued or reported (either to superiors or to the authorities).

Just saying in case it helps you.

Though I understand the reasons to an extent and thus have some patience for them, my Sag stellium (including Mars-Uranus) can make it hard for me to sit through them the few times I had to.

Thankfully, I've never been asked a pointless "what makes you happy/sad" question. And, unless painfully obvious what kind of answers would work (like applying to work for a specific church or political party in which the answers they're looking for should be obvious), I'm sure my snarky tone would come out I said, "Good manners and good posture" (if trying to become an administrative assistant) or "silence" (if trying to become a librarian) when answering what makes me happy. Some interviewers, probably bored to tears, might laugh at that and it would work for me, while for others that would likely bar me from further consideration (which is probably for the best as I likely wouldn't have lasted long anyway and been miserable there).

But even in the good case scenario, my gallows humor that would likely manifest in asking me what makes me sad, or a very sarcastic "unwanted puppies." That's such a pointless question which rarely has a good answer other than the stock answers one would put on their dating page. I might still get the librarian job because I'd probably answer "books not properly shelved" rather than actual gallows humor--though still with a snarky tone for the observant to note.

Thankfully, I don't depend on routine jobs for income, and my references are usually good enough. I'm glad I haven't been forced to get FB (as some jobs require and assume you're hiding it if you don't provide it), but if I did that would be strictly window dressing. If you have one, and even if they don't ask for it (they'll likely look it up on their own), it's a good idea to keep politics, conspiracy theories, and things of that nature off of it as they'll typically fear you'll make for a toxic work environment, and also signs that you won't be showing up (like all those pix of you chugging beers or visiting that pot cafe in Amsterdam) are to be avoided. And griping about any job you've had, including them if you get hired. I expect that for many if not most jobs right now, competition is incredibly intense, which means it will be all too easy to be weeded out fast.

PixieJane thank you! Those are some things to consider. Until now, I haven't been asked to provide my FB, but I can understand why they would want it.

I will think better next time at their questions and what would they want to hear. I'm not a bad employee and I've always given my 100%. I just dislike being asked this type of questions.

If someone said - describe yourself in a few words... I would go with the most important things in my life that pop into my mind right away like - my family, my dog, my work, probably astrology as well...

Then I would think of words related to those things...
For example I'm very caring and loyal with my family... and affectionate with my dog.. and passionate about my work, so I'm hardworking in that sense... and I definitely have my artsy/esoteric/spiritual side...

So my advice would be to think of the things that are most meaningful to you and what role you play in those circumstances or with those people.

That's ^ if you want to give a genuine answer.. and you're talking to a friend or potential friend.. in an informal setting.

If it is something like a job interview - then you would need to have these answers prepared beforehand... and they will never be all that genuine.. because they have to be moulded to the job to a degree.

Ah if you put it into that perspective. Something more grounding? Because I feel more like I am living someone's else life. Like the movies, you wake up one day trying to figure who this person is.

I was an initial hesitant to respond, but after seeing a few replies I figured I'd respond.

I'd say i'm more of a John F. Kennedy Gemini Sun then a Donald Trump Gemini Sun.

Three Words:
------------
Independent Free Thinking

Why do you like this:
---------------------
With all the turmoil and changes in the world its very easy to get trapped and sucked into things.

If you can think for yourself you can easily avoid other people's pitfalls and even potential problems down the road.

When $hit does hit the fan, 9/10 times I can think myself through how to deal with the problem or getaway in good order by not mimicking what other people are doing.

I travel by train alot (Big Rail Fan)
I always scratch my head when I see people start lining up at a gate without even thinking, happens at airports too.

I'd be at the lounge or sitting down close by thinking if people want to mimic other people and are okay being treated as cattle they will be treated as cattle.

What makes you sad:
---------------------
I think its disappointing that people can't see things or think for themselves anymore.

It's not so much a case of I went to school and got a good education its just the basic ability to see things for more then what they really are.

One of my buddies just finished his doctorate in chemical engineering and is teaching.

The problem is he's oblivious to the "academic hierarchy" because the system groomed him.

Its extremely unlikely He'll never get tenure and will always be an underpaid seasonal instructor and I don't think he sees that because the system groomed him into believe in that system.

Glad I checked LL today then. YW.

I'm at that point that I'm too tired to do much, but still too mentally active to try going to bed, so here I am (and about to check my emails which I haven't for a couple of days or so). My own financial concerns seem to be stabilizing into something good and dependable (knock on wood) and I'm celebrating with some easy activities (plus walking up and down a steep hill for exercise and Vitamin D), nice to relax, at least for a short while.

Anyway, glad it helped, means it was worth sharing.

It was worth it.

Good luck! With everything going on right now with the pandemic, it's good to have some things back on track. 😁
