Hi everyone ,

There are currently some good threads about
career astrology and potential indicators (also experimental ones that isolate fewer astrological factors to see if there’s a shortcut) in indicating suitable jobs.

On that theme, I wanted to discuss
the importance of Mercury and Mars for you.

For example, while my chart does show artistic leanings,
I feel how the mind works (Mercury)
and Mars (Drive, energy) must be quite important in daily work to be fulfilled ? (It also surprises me that Aries is not the traditional ruler of 10th house but I understand that the Capricorn slog can get you there in the end.
I suppose Mars is like the Hare and Saturn is the tortoise

Personal Placements :
I am increasingly finding that art (my pursuit) is about knowing what to “leave out.”

Is that satisfying ?
Maybe for my Leo Mercury (communicating through art, embellishing how I want but less general detail)
(It’s in 2nd house)..

But Mars is in Virgo 3rd and gladly lunges at any details with a critical eye..

I wonder if both contradicting sides need to be fulfilled but with Mars as the day job. (Perhaps I feel Mars more because it’s on the IC.)
I am almost considering something like Market Research Analyst as a career.. because I need something to feed my brain and conclude. And I miss maths. So it made me think of my Mars forces.

Leo Merc is square Jupiter in 11th.
Sounds like a Comedian who mocks society.
Or some kind of speaking out on what’s wrong with things (public policy etc)
I sure am interested in analytical work/solutions.

Mercury is conjunct Venus (pretty phrasings)
Note that Gemini is in 12th house. Words again.

Well my mars rules my mc - but i have grown to think the mc is what gains us notority, what marks our career rather than being THE career per se - for example actors become KNOWN for roles that fit their mc rather that working mc ruled jobs -for example Angelina Jolie has Aries mc, shes known for her roles where she shows sexappeal and the tomboyish, action hero side, Lara Croft and Mrs and Ms Smith, even Gia and girl interupted are very Aries roles that made her famous - ive seen Angelina in a period movie and i can see why it didnt make her a star. Ok Angelina also has venus on asc that rules 11th so no wonder everyone wants to look like her and be around her... but still point is mc is peak of career - i am not sure how one FINDS a career in chart - i can say i have no career, i have day job that i dont like a freelancing jobs that dont bring neither money or name recognation.

My mercury is in gemini conjuncts venus ruler of 11th and 4th - i wanted to be fashion designer, painter

Thanks Hemilla.

Your example, with the MC giving more of a “known for” flavour of the career, makes sense.

I believe a Scorpio 5th house (which Angie has)
gives rise to strong likelihood of an acting career too.

I guess one can’t just isolate careers with the MC although mine fits my MC ! - but there’s still something missing, so I’ve been experimenting with ideas with Mars and Mercury as possible drivers for career fulfillment.

Going back to the MC, in Pisces I’d either be “known” as a counselor helpful type or an artist.
I almost tried nursing, but art won out, so I am moving away from the counselor “label” and towards artist.

Side thought —
How important are aspects to the MC, though ?
I have Jupy sextile MC. I read it means an interest in law and Sag / 9th house careers. And tbh I keep finding sites talking of MC as career direction.

But like I said, I am looking at my Mars and Mercury for day job clues. Either that or I have to ramp up the art publicity!
I’ve never really had a career, although I’ve had brief positions of responsibility. Maybe I feel I skipped a step and that I concentrated too much on rel’ships..

Well, I hope you follow your dreams 🌈
Fashion and art are truly tops !
They were my dream jobs too 💜👍 but I had Saturn obstacles so I´ve only activated the art in my 40s.

Have you (also) thought of creative writing ?
I think the Mercury Venus pushes for this
and I mean you even have Merc in Gemini ..

Out of interest, what is your MC - is it Aries?
maybe using your method we can see the « flavour » of your art .. or fashion ..or writing ?

I have Mars conjunct Mercury on the Midheaven... All in Cancer, with Moon in Virgo 12th. Mercury also rules my Sun in Gemini 9th. In Aries I have DC, North Node and Jupiter (both of the latter in 7th).

I can't really spearate my MC from Mercury and Mars. It's all one thing for me really. Tells the same story.

My thinking is very intuitive, but also organized and efficient. I'm very curious and mentally driven, but I'm not the sort to specialize in one area, rather I tend to know a little about everyting. My physical drive is somewhat lacking and I don't need a high energy type job. I like peace and quiet and just drifting along. I enjoy social interaction to a point, but also enjoy having some alone-time at work.

I'm a librarian.
