Hi Kannon,

First, I'm not sure what makes Willner an "expert" on anything? Read his book, was not that impressed (which is why I no longer have the book). My "credentials": Started studying E.C.'s work when 16, will be 41 in a little over a month. Not only includes multiple books, but having a membership here and there for years (currently lapsed), and directly studying the readings.

Besides that, am extremely psychic/intuitive. Some patterns that relate: Angular Pisces South Node. Jupiter co ruler of 8th retrograding back into 1st. Sun, ruler of chart in Cap parallel Sag Neptune (ruler of 8th), square Pluto ruler of IC, sextile Angular Scorp Uranus, trine Jupiter. Saturn, ruler of Cap Sun and Merc and co-ruler of Aqua Venus, conjunct Moon ruler of 12th, sextile Uranus, and widely square Neptune. 5th House Neptune trine ASC.

Ruler of Libra Moon and Taurus MC--Venus--in Aquarius, Angular in the 7th near exactly trine Pluto and sextile Neptune, and closely square Uranus. Mercury, ruler of Virgo N.N., Jupiter, Mars, and Saturn in Cap and trine Jupiter within .5 degrees.

How this intuition/psychicness manifests. A good example: 2.5 years ago, attended A.R.E.'s Annual Members congress for the first time. Met Cayce's foremost biographer there, Sidney Kirkpatrick. Felt we (my spouse and I) had a karmic/other life connection to him and his spouse Nancy. Also felt that he was part of the same Soul group as Cayce and friends and had karmic/past life connections to them.

Went up into the meditation room at A.R.E., meditated, asked guidance if Kirkpatrick had a karmic/other life connection to Cayce, that Soul group, etc. Got a yes. Then asked for a name. Got a specific name. Later on, somewhat under the pretense of introducing Sidney to my spouse as we were sitting, waiting for a talk to begin, I saw him and waved him down (the meditation had happened a day or two before). Introduced my spouse (he and I had talked briefly before hand a different day), and then said, "I'm sure that you and Nancy probably have received psychic readings before, has this name ever came up for you in a past life sense?"

Look on his face was priceless. Looked shocked, rolled his head and then nodded yes. He later told me that he was doubly surprised because right before I had waved him down, he had been thinking about that possible past life connection and wondered if it would come up at this conference. He felt I had read his mind, and started to refer to me to his A.R.E friends/co-workers as "the mind reader".

I have had MANY of these kinds of verified experiences over many years. I have come to trust my intuition. It doesn't mean that I get everything right all the time, of course not, but have come to accept that self does have an unusually developed intuitive sense, which the chart fairly yells in various repeating patterns and many experiences have backed it up. Having such strong Capricorn and Mercury, Libra Moon, rather highlighted Aqua Venus, and moderate Virgo, I don't come to beliefs, perceptions, etc lightly and without considerable weighing, consideration, etc.

Will address Cayce's chart and life in another reply.

As mentioned on the other thread, my A.R.E. membership is currently lapsed and so I don't have access to the online data base of Readings, so the following will be from memory. However, if anyone would like to verify this information for themselves, Edgar Cayce's set of reading numbers is 294. Edgar's first reading would be 294-1. His second would be 294-2 and so on and so forth.

First, I will share an article by another astrologer that addresses this very issue: http://karenchristino.com/edgar-cayces-birth-time/

From above article. "While in a trance state for a reading for himself in 1919, Cayce, through his metaphysical source, provided a 3:03 p.m. birth time...

Edgar Cayce regularly differentiated between physical birth, the time of a baby’s first breath, and soul birth, which could occur many hours later. I believe that the 3:03 p.m. time provided by the reading was Edgar Cayce’s soul birth time (rounded off and given to Edgar’s grandmother by Sugrue decades later). The original birth certificate time of 1:30 was probably near his physical time of birth."

Besides that, in Cayce's Life readings for himself, the source mentions several clues that support the around 3pm birth time and latish Leo Rising:

1. Specifically mentions "Uranus at it's zenith". Zenith has two major meanings. The height of power of a condition, and the other--directly observable overhead. The latter meaning does not apply as that would mean Uranus roughly near the MidHeaven and NONE of the proposed Charts here give such a position. The first definition makes more sense because his source often references to Cayce's predominant Uranianess and that he entered into the Earth dimension from the consciousness level that Uranus symbolizes--i.e. the extremes, the psychic, the ultra, and the unusual.

There is no singular condition that is more amplifying in a Natal chart than a Planet closely conjunct the ASC. NONE. It is THE most amplifying/highlighting singular condition par excellence. Hence, Uranus at its Zenith.

2. Cayce's physiology corresponds in a very holistic way:

A. Dude was born in 1877 and was 6' 2" in height at his prime, and very skinny/lean for most of his life. To compare to our times, and someone born in more modern times i.e. within the last couple generations or so, that height is equivalent to around 6' 4 or 6' 5" or so now. People born the in 1800's were generally a bit to moderately shorter on average than now, because of less access to plentiful and/or nutritious food. In other words, he was unusually tall for his time period. That is a common Uranian correlation--especially combined with the skinniness and all the nervous energy he had (which is why he smoked like a chimney, to try to calm himself down. He was a VERY high strung personality).

B. Cancer in an archetypal sense is average to shorter than average unless powerfully counter balanced by symbols like Sun, N.N., Jupiter, and/or Uranus (lesser extent also Mercury). It's also a Sign with a slow metabolism and with a tendency to gain weight. This would especially be so with the ruling Planet, the Moon in the Sign of Taurus--also an average to shorter Sign, and also a Sign with a tendency to slower metabolism.

C., If you look at the pictures in Kirkpatrick's biography, "Edgar Cayce: An American Prophet", you will note a picture of Edgar at the beach. Even though he had a tendency to stoop some, you can tell that he had a rather long torso--classic Celtic trait (his family ancestry had strong Scottish background). What part of the body does Leo rule? The spine/back and heart primarily. What does Uranus correlate with--the unusual and extremes. Leo ASC + Uranus conjunct same= unusual/extreme torso and/or heart body wise.

D. He still had some other typical Leo ASC traits physically. He had a full lower lip, Celtic type complexion, and lightish gray blue eyes. However, he didn't fully look like an archetypal Leo ASC because of the close conjunction of Uranus. He was not as athletic and physically powerful as a more archetypal Leo Rising tends to be--because of the close Uranus conjunction. Planetary energy being stronger and more concentrated than Sign.

3. Cayce's deeper and strongest Character traits align with Leo ASC closely conjunct Leo Uranus:

A. As his own readings mention for him in the 294 set and in some random other readings, he was predominantly Uranian in attunement. He was a man very prone to extremes. He was a bit "bipolar" like as we might term it today. He would see saw from experiencing deep, near suicidal depressions to elation, joy, spiritual attunement. He could go from being very loving and kind to kind of a real d!ck. He angrily and impatiently fired his devoted, loyal, but also headstrong/willful Twin Soul/secretary/stenographer, Gladys Davis multiple times (but then would immediately, sheepishly apologize and ask her to come back).

B. He was very "high strung" with a lot of mental, nervous energy. This high strung nature, is what led to him losing his voice for a long period of time. This is very Uranian.

C. He was extremely stubborn, surprisingly so for someone with Sun, Mercury, Venus, NN, and Saturn in Pisces. His own guidance referred to him at times as "pig headed", or saying things like, you can give him advice, "but will he listen?" Taurus Moon is not enough to account for it. However, Taurus Moon combined with Leo ASC and Leo Uranus closely conjunct same certainly would. Those 3 symbols are highly fixed type symbols.

D. Harmon Bro, one of the few biographers to actually live with Cayce and his family writes about Edgar's sometimes bossy/autocratic/domineering/commanding side and flaring temper. Does that sound like a person with Cancer Rising with Moon in Taurus conjunct Neptune, and a Pisces Stellium, or a person with Leo ASC closely conjunct Leo Uranus? More specifically, Bro writes in the book, "A Seer Out of Season: The Life of Edgar Cayce" that he and Edgar got into a yelling and shoving match at one point. Yet, he also notes that Cayce while quick to anger/flare up, he was also quick to forgive and let go of it. This is a definite, classic characteristic trait of Fire Sign Risings which I can personally attest to. It is not characteristic of Cancer Rising with Taurus Moon, which would be much more of a sulking, grudge holding type personality. Bro also writes about Edgar's lifetimes as major, very influential leaders, and he specifically says something like, *One could almost sense while watching Cayce furiously pacing back and forth smoking a cigarette, a frustrated King (Uhjltd) or High Priest (Ra Ta) without power and authority in this life and longing for same.*

E. In one of his own Life Readings for himself, his source notes a penchant for focus on and attachment to "secret affairs of the heart". Leo Rising has both a powerful sex drive on average, as well as a strong attachment to romance. Indeed, Edgar almost cheated on his wife Gertrude at least a few times that we know of. See Kirkpatrick's biography. In one instance, Divine, supernatural forces had to intervene: the mysterious turbaned man showed up just as Cayce was starting to climb the stairs to meet one of his very attractive female fans privately. He saw the turbaned man, and turned right around. This mysterious figure only showed up in times of extremity and often as sort of a warning whether for others or Edgar himself.

4 Major Life Patterns:

A. A late Leo Rising gives a Pisces Sun in the 8th House. Cayce's life was extremely impacted by the experience of death of close, loved ones. The first case was Edgar's Grandfather who he was very close to and who was more of a father figure (Sun) to him than his own dad was. His grandfather died unexpectedly during an accident when Edgar was a young child and was the only person with him at the time. However, they resumed the relationship psychically/spiritually after. Edgar could see and converse with his now nonphysical grandfather and did so for awhile after his body had died. Both experiences were very affecting for him. Hmmm, sounds rather Pisces Sun in the 8th House to me.

B. Edgar's first best friend, his childhood sweet heart and first love, Little Anna, who he became friends with around the age of 6 or so and later romantically and sexually involved with, died from illness when he was around age 12. Because at the time he lived a number of miles away, and there had been a snowstorm, while she was sick and dying, he trudged a number of miles through snow to try to be there with her in her last moments after he heard she was very sick. But he arrived too late--she had already died by the time he got there and he was never able to say goodbye.

To say that he was upset and devastated is an understatement. He later wrote in a letter that he had loved little Anna Seay in a way that he hadn't and wouldn't ever love anyone since. If you want to know the depth of his feelings for her and the impact of her death, and later reincarnation (Beatrice Coffing Seay) on him, I suggest this article--see page 44 of same: http://w ww.edgarcayce.org/uploadedFiles/member_section/Circulating_files/Circulating_Files_PDFs/Non-Medical_Circulating_Files/21820FairiesElvesElementalsGnomes%20.pdf

(When a 60 something year old man starts weeping buckets for many minutes and can barely speak--you know that he is deeply affected, especially considering that she had died some 5 decades previously!)

C. One of Edgar's most influential past lives given for him in his Life Readings was his ancient Egyptian life as Ra Ta. One of the literal meanings of the name is "Sun brought to Earth". Ra Ta was born when the Age of Virgo was phasing into the Age of Leo. Ra Ta was an extremely influential leader type, who became the High priest of Egypt. And after he was recalled from his 9 year banishment back to Egypt, his guidance states that he became a near monarch in his own right, almost on par with the Pharaoh. Ra Ta's life and personality became deified by later Egyptians as one of their primary gods as Ra/Re who was powerfully associated with the Sun. Cayce's guidance said that Ra Ta's Soul had entered into that earth life from the dimension/consciousness symbolized by the Sun, which in that reading they referred to as the "infinity forces".

Hmmm, major, strongly influencing lifetime that took place in Leo Age as an extremely influential leader who was powerfully connected with the Sun, and yet in this life, he only has Uranus in Leo, or maybe ASC barely in Leo powerfully cusping Lunar, feminine, passive Cancer?

5. Synastric Patterns:

A. Edgar's secretary/stenographer, Gladys Davis, was named by Edgar's psychic source as his "Twin Soul". Indeed, though there was quite an age gap between them, they both yearned "and burned" for each other. Gladys was an Aquarius Sun with a Sagittarius Moon. One partner's Sun opposite Sign the other partner's ASC is one of the most powerful Synastric aspects of general, overall attraction there are.

I happen to have this Synastric interaspect with my own Twin Soul as well (Her Sun is the opposite Sign of my ASC), and have seen it in a number of other cases. Then, her Sag Moon would have been in or near his 5th House, which is another strong attraction indicator.

B. Edgar's spouse, Gertrude was a very early Pisces Sun (3*) strongly cusping Aquarius, which, if he had latish Leo Rising, would put her Sun in his 7th House--a classic and common marriage position. Gertrude's Venus was also strongly cusping Aquarius (Cap 27*).

C. Edgar's 2nd son, Edgar Evans, was an Aquarius Sun. If you look at pictures of Edgar's two sons, Hugh Lynn and Edgar Evans when they were young to middle aged men, they both look like they were more classically/archetypally Leo ASC (i.e. without the powerful Uranus alteration that Edgar had). This is not uncommon in families. My grandfather and I shared the same Rising Sign. My grandmother and my full brother share the same Rising Sign.

Here is a pic and obituary type piece for Edgar Evans: (Note in his youth, he was fairly athletic and personality wise was direct, honest, no nonsense) http://www.tributearchive.com/obituaries/1541335/Edgar-Evans-Cayce

To summarize: To self, it is beyond obvious that Edgar had a late Leo Rising closely conjunct Leo Uranus. Edgar's guidance literally often called Uranus that of the "psychic". Again, there is no more highlighted/amplified condition in a chart than having a Planet closely conjunct the ASC--the person becomes a personification and avatar of that symbol par excellence, as indeed, Cayce was of Uranus. His psychic gifts and sensitivity of course was also indicated by other things as well, like Sun, the CHART RULER, in Pisces in the 8th House, and as you mentioned Moon widely conjunct Neptune. But funny that you mention that. Something I haven't mentioned yet is that a around 3p.m. spiritual birth time for him, gives his Taurus Moon conjunct the MC, and both conjunct and sandwiched between Pluto in the 10th and Neptune in the 9th. Moon conjunct MC or in the 10th is one of the more common positions of very well known people. And with both Neptune and Pluto involved, two other psychic oriented Planets--he was well known as a psychic--a very powerful, transformative (Pluto) and mystic/mystical (Neptune) type one. This career pattern further strengthened by the ruler of the MC, Venus, being in Pisces and Angular.

I honestly cannot even understand how and why anyone would think that Cayce had a Cancer ASC or very early Leo ASC powerfully cusping Cancer ASC. Willner either needs to dig more deeply into Cayce, his life, his personality, how ASC matches up to physiology, his synastry/closest relationships etc, or research more on astrology. I don't consider him an "expert" when he misses all these various holistic clues and logic.

And who am I going to tend to trust--the guy (Willner) who misses all this obvious stuff, OR the guy who accurately intuitively read Kirkpatrick's past life that at least a couple other (and professional) sensitives also picked up on?

Kind of a no brainer to self. Will likely not be responding further. If this was a court case, it would be case closed--I rest my case here.

As a side note, with Willner's Scorpio ASC, Taurus Sun Venus conjunction, and Virgo MC--have you ever considered that maybe you and he are part of the same larger/expanded/Spirit self? I have found, via repeat experience and guidance messages, that many (most?) of our Spirits currently have multiple Souls going on in this cycle. At one point, my half of Spirit had 5 other Souls going on in this cycle. At one point my Twin Soul's half of Spirit had 6 or 7 other Soul selves going on in the same cycle she was also alive at. This is very common nowadays for a few reasons. There is a plethora of bodies currently. This is a very, very important cycle. And in the near to nearish future, there will be a severe lack of bodies for awhile.

The late John Willner (d. December 2004) was a lifelong astrologer who was schooled in astrology by his grandmother starting at an early age. He was also a member of [url=]the National Council for Geocosmic Research (NGCR)[/url] with more a focus on research than earning a living with astrology since he was a career aeronautics engineer who was really good at the kind of math required for that and the challenges presented by a more metaphysical astrology. That may have been part of the reason he received the incarnation Ascendant formulas mentioned in the books.

I agree that Astrological Revelations is not that impressive. I read most of its chapters as filler material that goes a bit off topic, but there is essential foundational material there. The other three published works by Willner -- The Powerful Declinations, The Rising Sign Problem which I think is the best one, and The Perfect Horscope -- may also seem unimpressive, depending on your expectations. The point is that these works, however unimpressive or flawed they may be, form the foundation of the practical application of the theory of spiritual birth (or incarn) astrology. Focus on the good in them and build on that. The foundation is not the complete work, just as the foundation of a house is not a completed house.

More importantly, Willner was the only astrology to author software applying the incarnation Ascendant formulas which were developed by other astrologers before him. Otherwise, the notion of spiritual birth and these inter-dimensional windows of entry remain only an inapplicable hypotheticals.

It's good you've got sharp and ready intuition. That will serve you well -- and you should trust it generally as applicable to your life. But intuition or psychic ability does not replace the work needed to develop the practical skill of astrological chart validation in the work of incarn astrology. Astrological questions and problems of chart casting or validation can and should be resolved astrologically.

I am well familiar with the Cayce readings on his own chart and like you I don't come to conclusions lightly. I have an A.R.E. membership with access to the readings. The time of 3 PM is physical delivery as attested to by his grandmother who was in the next room and said the clock chimed three right about the time of his first cry. So not spiritual birth or incarn time and does not coincide with it closely (as can happen with sometimes). There is no incarnation window that aligns with Uranus in Leo for Cayce's location and date of birth. Given the widely varying material on astrology in the Cayce readings, it is helpful to see this varying material as given in different voices, even from different discarnate entities. The introduction of the notion of spiritual birth as a precise moment was Cayce's and needed mathematical definitions and practical application he did not provide. That was Willner's work.

I am slowly collecting the material for a web page or set of pages that will outline all the various issues around Cayce's birth chart and use it to address the varying perceptions and confusing material on the topic. I am doing this with a from-scratch rectification of Cayce's birth chart with the possibility in mind that Willner could have made a mistake and Cayce could have had the 1° Leo Asc (parallel Moon and square Neptune). That addition to my website will be exhaustive and may not be done or even started for many months. However, I'll offer a couple illustrations that strongly suggest Willner's assessment of 20° was on target:

Synastry with wife Gertrude:

His Father Leslie's noon planet positions showing multiple parallels plus a contra-parallel to the 20° Cancer Ascendant.:

Hard to not note the irony of who we are discussing here and his intuitive talents and how they manifested.

Cayce regularly demonstrated that intuition/psychicness trumps all intellectual learning and exercise as to knowing/perceiving information/data on ANY subject, in any field, any time, any space. Intellectually, Cayce was fairly ignorant (though he did like to read). He was most learned on the Bible and Christianity, and yet he regularly channeled through information about these that disagreed with or was different than what he consciously believed, or that he just didn't know at all.

Now, what Cayce did "sleeping', one could develop to do in a full waking state. All a matter of attunement and balance. I believe that all of us, ultimately have that potential--though for most, it's not likely within this particular lifetime.

I'll give some brief examples. When I was taking the Gateway Voyage Program at The Monroe Institute in Faber, VA, we had a surprise practice sprung on us. We went to a different building, watched video of an ex Military trained remote viewer do his thing for a Japanese t.v. show. Then after, she told us, now you'll be doing your own remote viewing.

We were only given a random set of numbers-. I blanked my mind, and I started getting impressions of this large, but relatively thin, arching metal structure. I got impression of water and large buildings close by.

When we finished, the target was revealed to us. It was the St. Louis Arch. I had never seen the St. Louis Arch previously (if I had, I probably would have named it). One woman in our group, got even better details than myself.

Did a free psychic development class at the A.R.E. with my new girlfriend/partner at the time and whom I was sitting right next to during the following. We (the class as a whole) were all handed sealed manila envelopes and told there was a picture in them, and that we should try to psychically view our picture. Blanked my mind--started to get impressions. One was of speed of movement, and waving manes and tall grass. Then a distinctly different picture formed after. A blue eye like shape, in the center of a all blue background.

When my partner and I opened up our envelopes, I was surprised to see that I had picked up on both of our pictures. My picture was of a herd of galloping wild horses through a field of tall grass. Her's was of a blue eye in the center of an all blue background.

I had a psychic readings with two of Bruce Moen's professional psychic friends, Caryl and Caroline (at different times). If you don't know who Bruce is, he was afterlife author and teacher of nonphysical perceptual skills who had been friends with Robert A. Monroe, and later he found out that he and Bob were part of the same Expanded self.

Anyways, both sensitives gave verifying information in their over the phone readings in various areas (for one example, I was working at a special needs school and worked with one little boy who is blind, and when he got excited he would start swinging his arms like a crazy windmill--she described seeing a little boy doing just that). But for the purposes of this post: one specifically mentioned that in about 10 years time, my psychic gifts and awareness would be completely and fully wide open. Full telepathy, the whole 9 yards. The reading was back in 2012. The other intuitive, I first asked, "Please bring to my conscious awareness that which would be most spiritually helpful for me to become aware of now". First thing she said, "you are here for full Christ Consciousness and to get everything right this time."

Anyways, point being, is that I'm trying to and likely will develop consciously what Cayce did while sleeping. One has to come to trust in their intuitive perception more and more to get there. If there is doubt, fear, monkey mind chatter, etc these will block and distort that perception.

Considering that I've been studying astrology for almost 28 years, and developing/honing my intuitive senses (that A.R.E. thing was like 19 years ago) that whole time as well (started meditating when 13, etc), I think I have a pretty good grasp of figuring out things from both the intellect/astrological side and the intuitive/psychic/knowing side.

Until you holistically address every major point made individually and as a whole, then a couple points are not likely to change my mind. I listed MANY different factors that all line up in a co-supportive and internally consistent way.

Everything has to fit all together, the personality/character (extreme stubbornness and extremism, tendency to flare in anger, etc), the physiology, the multiple synastry cases, the major life patterns (like life long affecting deaths of close loved ones, the pattern of coming close to cheating multiple times), etc, etc. All the pieces of the puzzle have to fit together to make a whole picture.

One can rule Cancer out right away just by his personality and physiology alone. Cancer Rising with Taurus Moon is going to correlate with a rather passive personality that if they get mad, they will hold grudges rather than flare up and let it go. Cancer Rising with Taurus Moon would correlate with a short to average height person inclined to gain weight--not someone unusually tall and extremely skinny for most of their life.

And despite that you "think" that Cayce was a "family man" as you have written elsewhere, you clearly don't know him and his life well enough. He was devoted to his work/career more than to his family. He had somewhat strained relations with both his wife and his sons (especially the oldest, Hugh Lynn).

Towards the very end of his life, while talking to Gertrude, he specifically said to her, "Do you know that I love you?" She answered, of course, and he replied, "But how do you know, when you love someone you sacrifice for them, what have I sacrificed for you?" It was the admission of a dying, guilty feeling man, that he could have done both his wife and family in general better. And it was a recognition that they have suffered for his strange career/calling.

Anyways, of course he did love them, and he tried to be a good family man, but he was definitely not a primary nor ideal family man by any means. Ultimately, he cared more about his service to humanity than anything else.

There are 17 main points made previously that need rebutting, and how Cancer or 1 degree Leo would better fit these. The 17th is not specifically/individually listed, but is towards the end and talking about Cayce's MC and how it well represents/correlates with him being 1. a psychic by career and 2. famous/well known.

See Kannon, I went this next level pedantic, detailed, and holistic because I know people with powerful Taurus VERY well. There is no Sign when powerful in a person's chart that can drive me more crazy/up the wall, because the Fixity and Stubbornness is often something really to behold. I say that for both personalities/people that I like and respect in my life (like my friend Albert who is a very spiritually intune and loving guy), and ones that I came to become very frustrated by. (Multiple Taurus Sun tenants/housemates).

And I am VERY aware of how unlikely I am to change your mind even with the best and most well cited evidence. This is more for others than for you. Hell, Yeshua himself, or God could manifest in front of someone with powerful Taurus, and I swear, 8 out of 10 such people would ARGUE with same. I'm both joking..and yet not fully...

And I imagine that Willner was rather similar with his Scorpio ASC, Taurus Sun, Taurus Venus, and Aquarius South Node.

RE: Cayce's father--you are aware that they didn't get along whatsoever, and that Cayce had the faster moving ruler of his Scorpio IC, Mars, and the faster moving ruler of his Sun, Mercury, Venus, NN, and Saturn--Jupiter, both in Capricorn which means that Cayce had a pretty good dose of Capricorn in his chart.

You are aware that oppositions between two straight men tend indicate conflict right? Especially when Mars is involved.

Think a little more deeply and holisticlaly here. Edgar and Leslie did not have the kind of warm, expansive, "we tend to really like each other" kind of connection that is indicated by one partner's Sun being the same Sign, near the other partner's ASC or in their 1st House.

If they had not been father and son--they likely would have had nothing to do with each other. Leslie was a drunk and abusive father that regularly beat Edgar, and then later on, used and abused him. Edgar tolerated him and tried to "spiritually love" him.

However, their strained, stressed, and difficult relationship is better described by a combination of strong 12th House connections where the father didn't understand the son at all (12th House Planet person often has a hard time perceiving the 1st House person clearly and accurately and sometimes vice versa), and then Cayce's highlighted Mars and Jupiter in Capricorn was in general opposition to Leslie's strong Cancer.

I will agree with you that one partner's ASC same Sign as another's Moon is a good match in Synastry, but in reality, one partner's Sun in the others 7th House is even better for a marriage. After all, 7th House specifically represents "close or strongly affecting relationships", and well, the Sun is the Sun, and the Moon only reflects the light of the Sun...

Then, let's go back to Cayce's highlighted Mars and Jupiter in Capricorn. Mars ruler the IC and Jupiter ruling all those Pisces placements, his 5th and his 8th House.

Well, just as oppositions between same sex/straight people with major differences also otherwise, tend to indicate conflict and issues, between a straight man and woman with other attraction factors, oppositions--especially Mars, can indicate very strong sexual attraction. That intense red energy can get channeled well sexually, rather than through stress, anger, and conflict as is common when that channel is not available.

One of the most strong sexual aspects I've noticed is one partner's Moon opposite Sign the other partner's Mars. Another strong one, is one partner's Venus same Sign as the other's Mars. Gertrude and Edgar had both of these.

But here's the thing. Edgar was actually more deeply and strongly attracted to Gladys who was his twin Soul. She as mentioned was an Aquarius Sun with Sagittarius Moon. If Edgar had met both woman at the same time, there is no question in my mind that he would have chosen Gladys over Gertrude. Which is probably why he didn't meet her till many, many years later after he had a family and was on the older side. Even then, his guidance pointed out in both their readings how they "yearned and burned for each other".

When one partner's Sun is the opposite Sign of the others ASC, it feels like you are two puzzle pieces of the same Whole. It is an intense, all around, general attraction in a very core way. Again, I have this same Synastric pattern with my own Twin Soul who I have been with for nearly 20 years now.

Why don't we use this thread to focus on something constructive we can agree on. Here is what I've got so far in the way of a timeline of Cayce's life events. Let me know if you find any gaps you can fill in or if you can give a more specific date. I put the sources in brackets after each one.

27 May 1880 (age 3) Edgar fell headfirst off a fence post onto a board with a nail protruding
out of it. It went so deep as to puncture his brain [source: biography: ____?]

8 June 1881 he witnessed the horse accident which causes the death of his grandfather, Thomas Jefferson Cayce [source: biography: ____? ; death date confirmed by geni.com]

I think this book may've been my source several years ago for these first two events:
.
I think I'll have to get a copy and re-read it.

Sister Mary born 24 April 1884.
Sister Annie born 1878.
Sister Sarah born 7 Jan 1888. [source: geni.com]

__? August 1893 his grandmother died after prolonged illness while he was holding her hand. That was also the summer he first fell in love. He proposed to the girl, but she turned him down. That night he had a dream about a veiled girl who would he would unite with that would later turn out to be Gertrude. [source: There is a River, Sugrue]

March 1943, Edgar Cayce's biography "There is a River", by Thomas Sugrue, is published. This brought a showering of requests for readings by mail, so much that Gertrude had to drive to the P.O. to haul it home. Edgar began lengthening his trances and doing 4-6 per day instead of the limit of 2. [ARE, There is a River]

By August 1944 he collapsed from the strain of continual overwork. A reading for himself said he should go away and rest until well or dead. In Sept he had a stroke. 17 September 1944, Cayce gave his last psychic reading, for himself. [There is a River, ARE]

Died 3 Jan 1945 of stroke 7:15 PM at home in Virginia Beach. [There is a River]

And a question -- do you know the date Cayce's mother was born? geni.com had only birth year and year of death.

Hi Kannon,

I'll try to take a deeper look when time allows.

For now, yes, the nail in the forehead area when a young child is sourced from Kirkpatrick's biography which is far more extensively researched than Sugrue's "There is
a River". Nobody outside of the Cayce family even knew about the nail incident until Sidney released his book in 2000/2001. Some theorize that this had a powerful affect on Cayce's Pineal gland which heightened his psychic sensitivity beyond what it normally would have been. It's similar in theory to the Tibetan Buddhist practice of trepanation/trepanning.

quote:
That night he had a dream about a veiled girl who would he would unite with that would later turn out to be Gertrude. [source: There is a River, Sugrue]

Quick correction: This dream was not about Gertrude. This was a repeating dream that he had periodically throughout his life, well after he married Gertrude, and I think, even after he hired Gladys (I think, but am not sure on the latter). Some Cayce researchers, like Bro, Church, and Kirkpatrick theorize that the dream was more symbolic and indicating Edgar's Soul and Spirit levels trying to merge between the inner Yang and Yin. The young woman represented his own Yin/Feminine side that he was trying to integrate and merge with (i.e. "unite" with).

If it's not the latter, then it has to do with Gladys, who was his twin Soul. It may also relate to Little Anna and Beatrice, because I have figured out that they were also likely Edgar's Twin Souls i.e. from the same half of Spirit that Gladys was from. Am sure it's not about Gertrude because I know he continued to have the dream well after marrying her. Edgar met Beatrice, a Soul connected to his long lost love Anna, relatively shortly before he died. Meeting and re-developing a relationship with her was an extremely powerfully affecting event/experience for him.

As to Gladys, Anna, and Beatrice all being part of the same Expanded self--that I cannot prove in any way. It's just a very strong hunch/intuition. He really, really deeply loved and was powerfully attracted to all 3 women (well, Anna was more a girl as they were both around 12 when she passed), above and beyond any others in his life--even his karmic soulmate Gertrude.

You should read the letters between Beatrice Coffing Seay, Edgar, and Beatrice's fiance/husband Richmond Seay. The readings say that Richmond had been Little Anna's father in that life, and Edgar hadn't just been close to Anna but also her father.

It's a strange triangle between them. Richmond was fully aware of Edgar's and Beatrice's powerful feelings for each other, and he was oddly supportive and understanding of it. Letters between Beatrice and Edgar border on very romantic and even a bit sexual at times. And yet, Richmond writes Edgar after Edgar expresses worry that Richmond might be upset by their intimate emotional connection, something like, *Dearest Eddie, understand that we both love you very much and there isn't and never could be anything to be sorry for, worry about, nor any jealousy on my part. In fact, if you weren't with Gertrude and needed a place to stay, we would love for you to live with us.* That is some rather amazing emotional security from a man in the much more conservative times of the late 30's and early 40's.

What I am hinting at, is besides Gladys, Beatrice, and Anna all being Edgar's Twin Souls, is that Edgar, Richmond, and Anna's beloved father were all part of the same half of Expanded self, and all Twin Souls to the former Souls (who incarnated in female forms).

I personally know that these multiple Soul projections from our Expanded self level happens all the time, and sometimes, we meet Souls from our Expanded self and/or Souls from the Expanded self level of our Twin Souls/Spirits.

I have met multiple Souls from my Expanded self in this life, and I have met two other Twin Souls besides my long time partner, who are from her same Expanded self level.

I do not know exactly when Edgar's mom was born and died, but I will ask Sid if he happens to knows. If anyone knows, he'd be one of the most likely ones. He's still very much involved with investigating Cayce's life.

Btw, you may be interested to note that while Cayce's work most often talks about reincarnation in the more "traditional" and linear way, there are definite hints and clues that Cayce's guidance fully understood that this wasn't the primary way that it actually happened. Perhaps the most interesting and convincing example is the following:

As you may know, even when asked, Cayce's Source rarely ever revealed itself specifically/individually. There are some rare exceptions to this. One of these was Reading 5756-10. Among the various individuals it lists off (including Confucius, Lamech, John, etc) it lists Ra and Ra Ta. It should be noted that Gladys was not the stenographer for this particular reading, but her cousin Mildred, who was much less practiced at it, was the stenographer. It's very possible and likely that what Cayce really said was something like Ra Ta/Ra because that individual had been born with the name Ra Ta and later changed his name to just Ra.

Anyways, how could Ra be listed as one of the individuals helping out in this reading, when he was given as one of 8 or so lifetimes for Edgar himself!? If we go by traditional and linear reincarnation theory, Edgar had had some 6 or so lives after his experience as Ra Ta/Ra. Hence, Ra Ta/Ra didn't really exist anymore as an entity, and certainly there were major differences between Edgar and Ra Ta/Ra (though their general life patterns had some parallels).

The real reason is because Ra literally still exists as a separate Soul, and that we have a larger, more original level of self that we could call our Expanded self, Spirit, Monad or what not, and it's this part of us that creates Souls (individualized, unique, freewilled extensions of itself) to incarnate. It's a microcosm pattern of what Source did with our Original/Spirit selves in the beginning. And the Children of a Parent, being created in the likeness of their parent, often does similar things.

Anyways, these concepts have been proven to me beyond a doubt in my own life experiences and guidance messages. For a brief example. Bruce Moen writes in his 3rd book about finding out that his late friend Bob Monroe and he are from the same larger/Expanded self level. Sometime after reading that and wondering if it was true or not, I had a dream where I was in Bruce's class, and for some reason, at one point, Bruce's face morphed into Bob's and then morphed back to Bruce's. The message was clear--the concept is true, and Bruce's claim was true--he and Bob are part of the same larger/Expanded self.

Not only that, but Bob Monroe writes about the concept in one of his books and that guidance told him that his Expanded self level, had two other Souls going on in his space/time cycle. And he was told that not only could this happen, but that nowadays it was quite common.

And I'm telling you, you should look into a possible Willner connection. Really do feel that you two may be part of the same larger self. Why do you think you gravitated to his work so strongly? It was similar with Bruce Moen and Bob Monroe. Bruce was powerfully drawn to Bob and his work well before he became aware of their deeper connection.

This was similar with my late friend Rosalind McKnight and I. Before I realized our deeper connection, it was interesting to note that not only did we share the same birthday, but we had the same Mercury Sign position (10 degrees Cap), almost the same exact Venus position (21/22* Aqua), and we had the same Moon Sign. Before I went to the Monroe Institute to take the Gateway Voyage Program, I had a dream telling me that my partner and I had helped the Monroe family before.

I initially thought that my partner and Rosie were part of the same Expanded self, but when I meditated and asked guidance about it, I was told no. Then I asked if my partner's Expanded self had a lifetime/Soul self that was involved with Monroe, The Monroe Institute, and knew Rosie. I was told yes. Then I asked for a name, and got one--one that I was only very vaguely familiar with. Turns out that the two women had been friends and co-workers via The Monroe Institute.

Life is often stranger than fiction as I find out the more and more I open up to Spirit/Expanded self, Source, and to Love.

OK. I'll take your word for it. That was an elaboration that was not necessary for me to add to the two essential events of that summer.

And I agree that life is often stranger -- and more fantastic -- than fiction.

Maybe not necessary, but seeing as I haven't ever heard anyone else make those connections before (Gladys, Little Anna and Beatrice being from the same Expanded self and Edgar, Little Anna's father, and Richmond being from the same Expanded self), I thought that folks into EC and this work might find it interesting.

Similar with the hints of reincarnation not necessarily being the traditional form. I had not ever seen anyone bring up that reading that listed Ra Ta/Ra as being one of the individuals helping with that reading and the deeper implications that this would necessarily point to. I pointed this out to Kirkpatrick one time, and it seemed like it hadn't even registered to him previously (this is the effect of belief systems on perception) as he had a traditional view of incarnations at the time.

Hence, thought folks might find it interesting and helpful.

I was saying that my elaboration on the dream was not necessary. The events of losing his grandmother and his proposal being turned down were enough, but the dream was significant without me including his grandmother's (or Sugrue's) impression of who/what it meant.

I'd also like your input on my book list in case there are some good biographies of Cayce that I don't know about.

- There is a River, by T. Sugrue: bought and re-read this one recently. Took notes.

- Edgar Cayce, the Sleeping Prophet, by J. Stearn: bought this one and will read it too, but it is not so much biographical as documentary of the prophecies and such.

- Edgar Cayce, an American Prophet, by S. Kirkpatrick: have this one on my Thriftbooks wish list to buy soon.

- My Years with Edgar Cayce: The Personal Story of Gladys Davis Turner, by M.E. Carter: also on my Thriftbooks wish list.

Ah, I see. Thank you for the clarification.

I found Kirkpatrick's book mentioned above, and Harmon Bro's "A Seer Out of Season" to be good counter balancers to Sugrues and Stearns's somewhat over idealized and slightly pedestal perspectives. In the former, we see more of the human weaknesses of "this lowly channel" as once coined by his own guidance for himself. Bro both from having a psy background (if I remember correctly) and having lived with the Cayce family for a bit (and directly seeing some of Edgar's dark side).

Kirkpatrick's biography is by far the most extensively and meticulously researched and he had more access to the Cayce family's personal records, letters, etc than any other biographer previous. To be honest, it was probably at least partly because of his previous high reputation and accolades as a biographical and true crime writer and film documentarist. The A.R.E. got lucky when S.K. decided to take on E.C. and the Readings.

Many people consider his work to be the definitive one.

I have read Gladys's biography once, as my spouse bought and owns it (we got married at the A.R.E. btw), but as I only read it once some years back I don't remember too much about it except that it also gives a somewhat more humanized and realistic view of Edgar, but also mixed in with some of the over idealized. She was in love with Edgar, and yet got temporarily fired by him a few times, and was named by the source as his twin soul. It was a deep and complex relationship. Would say it's likely worth reading from the above considerations and because it's one of the few female perspectives, though not strictly a biographical piece on Edgar.

There was funny incident in a court case when Cayce was brought to court in New York for fortune telling on some trumped up charges (ultimately rigged/connected to his former benefactor now turned sworn enemy Morton Blumenthal). Gladys ended up testifying under oath--she had the kind of mind/brain that when under stress, tended to slip up and say things she didn't mean or just kind of messed up at times. Anyways, when asked by the prosecution if she was married (she wasn't), she answered yes. (Partly because she felt married to the work and partly because she felt Edgar was hers, being her twin soul). Needless to say, there was some tension between Gertrude and Gladys, especially in the earlier days, but eventually Gertrude became like a mother figure to Gladys.

(Funny side note, when we got 3 chickens some years back, my partner named them Gladys, Gertrude, and Mildred [name of Gladys's cousin] respectively. She thought it was funny. She has had some interesting dreams about Gladys.)

Oh yeah, the Harmon Bro book. I'd forgotten about that one. Not sure if I ever read it, although I remember it being much touted back in the 90s. I'll look that one up. Thanks for the reminder.

See this is why I asked you.

Finally got around to asking Sidney about this, and he responded with this:

"Mother: Carrie Elizabeth Major June 23, 1855- Oct 26 1926

Children of Leslie and Carrie

Leila Beverly Cayce (b. 24-Dec-1875, d. 24-Dec-1875)
Edgar Cayce (b 1877-1945)

Annie Cayce (b. 1879-1957)

Ola Cayce (b. 1881-1967) Florida?

Thomas Leslie Cayce Nov. 19,1882 and died Nov. 29, 1882

Sarah Elizabeth 1888-1984"

Again, I go back to sensitive Jupiter. With EC having Sun, Mercury, Venus, N.Node, and Saturn in Pisces, the faster moving ruler of all this Pisces, Jupiter, becomes more sensitive/receptive symbol in this chart. Then, if he has Leo Rising, it becomes even more so because his Chart ruler, the Sun, is also in Pisces, which further sensitizes Jupiter through the greater highlighting of Pisces.

His Jupiter in Capricorn would be closely opposed his Mother's Sun. Jupiter oppositions do not tend to be as stressful or difficult in nature as a lot of other ones, and oppositions generally mean seeking of balance via closer relationship (has a 7-7 House connotation). It's clear that Edgar and his mother did have a strong spiritual and religious connection. She was one of the few people who did not poo poo his psychic gifts and experiences, but actually was supportive of him in those areas.

One of Edgar's most unusual and transcendent spiritual experiences involved his late mother. When he was road tripping with T. Mitchell Hastings across New Mexico and Arizona to get sun, dry air, relaxation time, and to look for ideal specimens of Azurite, when they found some ideal specimens of same and after they charged them in the sun, they both experienced some very intense psychic and spiritual phenomena.

Climaxing for Edgar in the temporary materialization of his late mother and her counseling him about the future, encouraging him continue the work (he was thinking of quitting at the time--he was worn out, poor, and severely depressed), and then she handed him a silver coin, which after she dematerialized, stayed physical (this coin was later the subject of a FBI investigation, because incredulous son, Hugh Lynn had it sent to the Treasury to have it checked. They said it was perfect in every way except it lacked a mint date/number. Then the FBI got involved for fraud, but Hugh Lynn used the defense of, "If I was committing fraud, why would I send the coin to the authorities?" The case was then dropped).

In the Cayce work, Jupiter is not so one dimensional and "Sagittarian" like as often portrayed in mainstream astrology. Rather, his guidance often called Jupiter that of Universal Consciousness, the ennobling, and (spiritual) strength. Also noting a tendency in those with Jupiter highlighted to deal with large groups and even masses of people, and potentially having a powerful influence on the many (we see this in Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's chart with Jupiter nearest his ASC). The majority of time when Jupiter came up in a Life reading as an indication for a person, it was so in a positive and more spiritual way. There are a few exceptions that I have seen, but by far the minority.

Cayce's guidance also linked it strongly to psychism. In one of Edgar's own readings for himself, it says something like, the action of the psychic is from Uranus, with Jupiter and Neptune assisting. These 3 planets were otherwise outlined as definite indications for him, with Uranus being the predominant.

It seems pretty apropos for Edgar to have a sensitized Jupiter, so closely opposed his Mother's Sun, when they had such a spiritual and mutually uplifting connection.

I will also note for a supportive record, that I have no Cancer in my chart, and my big 3 are Cap Sun, Leo Rising, and Libra Moon. My Mother who I was very close to and who I shared the same birthday with, and whose relationship was likewise very spiritual and psychic oriented, had very strong Cancer in her chart. As she had Moon in Cancer, along with South Node, Jupiter, and Uranus also in Cancer.

Our connection comes not from mutual Cancer, but my Capricorn to her Cancer-Capricorn. I mention this to point out that Edgar's highlighted/sensitive Jupiter and Mars (potentially faster moving ruler of IC) in Capricorn is enough of a Synastric connection to his Mother without invoking him having Cancer ASC. And that close Jupiter Sun opposition seems pretty apropos in light of their relationship with its strong emphasis on their spiritual, religious, psychic, and mutually uplifting connection.
