Hi everyone,Is anybody knowledgable about stationary retrograde planets? For anyone who doesn’t know, there are two times when a planet appears stationary in the sky: just as the planet is starting to go retrograde and when it turns direct once again These are called stationary retrograde planets and stationary direct planets. I never gave much thought to their effect but I recently read an article that says that they are very important in the chart, almost to the point that they would be considered the most important planet in the chart. The author compared them to the effect of leaving a footprint in the mud when you stand still for a long period of time, versus if you were to run or walk fast through the mud, leaving only light footprints. In the first instance, your foot leaves a deep impression and the author compares that to how the stationary planets work in the personality and why they have such an effect. I cannot find the article to link to but I will keep searching. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I am curious in particular about Mercury stationary retrograde. IP: Logged |

Symbolically ... stationary planets are asking us to pause for reflection (upon the lessons of past events) before proceeding. ... However, most people in the Western civilisations are too focused upon moving-forward to 'waste any time" reflecting upon the past. For example ... the reasons why Japan attacked Pearl Harbour and Osama Bin Laden destroyed the Twin Towers have never been adequately reflected upon by the USA ... and that might ultimately result in a future attack from another country or organisation that feels threatened by a society/culture which appears to believe peace can be assured by pointing nuclear missiles at the rest of the world. http://www.stationaryplanets.com IP: Logged |

There's an "sr" next to it.

Thank you Graham, very interesting. I have always been one to reflect. I have mercury stationary retrograde. I’ve always felt the need to think deeply on things so I can understand them on a deeper level. Once I finally feel I have my head wrapped around something and have figured it all out, I feel I can move on from it. I think many people view this as “dwelling on things.” I see it totally differently and as you said maybe the average person values “moving forward” rather than gaining true understanding. I think this is absolutely the case. Thanks for the link I am going to check it out. Lol thank you anyway mirage and sunnya. You could have left your posts up, I’m sure the information would have been interesting anyway! Mee_chryssa, if you’re using astro.com, be sure to click the additional tables option to check if you have a stationary planet, because for some reason for me it doesn’t show up on the little graph below my chart. I have to click additional tables and then i see the “sr” and “sd”. IP: Logged |
