I have a 1deg48mins orb Sun-Chiron conjunction, that is my Placidus 3rd house and 2nd Equal House. ... It is the only astrological indicator which changes houses in those two systems ... but in Equal, Chiron makes an exact conjunction with all 12 house cusps - whilst in Placidus, it does that only with the 4 angles of the chart.

The stark difference between a 2nd and 3rd house sun is (as stated by Ami Anne) is an inclination to express personal values (2nd) and an inclination to interact/communicate with others in the local community (3rd).

In practice, I do indeed express my personal values in the activities associated with all 12 astrological houses - but communicate most actively with intimate others (partners, family and colleagues).

The 3rd house manifestation is stronger, but the 2nd affects all houses. So, in the workplace/home, others would see my values communicated strongly - but 11th house friends/associates would see a less animated expression of them.

In the 3rd house though, my Sun is focused upon communicating rather than expressing my values. So, 11th house associates would describe me as taciturn - whereas 10th house colleagues would describe me as being able to talk the hind legs off a donkey.

Sun in 2nd focuses energies more on acquisition or accumulation or management of material resources, material goals and improvements.

Sun in 3rd focuses more on thinking/relating processes of learning, communicating, developing ideas, experiencing variety, varying mindsets.

In my case, the Chiron-Sun conjunction is at the same degree as the Ascendant. With Equal houses, that degree is on the cusp of every house ... so my conjunction affects all houses.

With Placidus houses, that degree is on the cusp of only the 1st, 4th, 7th and 10th houses.
