Topic: What can make someone want to save people or help or save humanity?

There are many people who claim they want to save people or help or save humanity. Most of those people are wolves dressed in sheep's clothing. But when I see people doing things at their own detriment or putting their own lives in danger to save or help humanity, I usually see hard Neptune in the natal, or hard Neptune in transit. Yeah I see what you're saying. One example is I've noticed that a lot of doctors, who are meant to save and help, actually only do it for money and sometimes have no real interest in the welfare of other human beings that goes beyond the material world. For them it's not about the life they're saving. It's almost the same for them as repairing a car - social niceties + pay up! But yeah that's actually pretty common and normal I think for most people and most professions. It's all a job or a way to get money, But there are people who are sincerely interested in helping others, even though they're few and far between. So, with that said, what could indicate a genuine desire to help?

My tend and I have this complex.It's a Pis/Aqua energy I think. Jup/Nep in aspect to Sun/Mo/Ven/Mer/Mars.
Ura/Jup in aspect to Sun/Mo/Ven/Mer/Mars.
Nep/Ura in aspect to Sun/Mo/Ven/Mer/Mars. Pis/Aqua on Moon/Sun/Merc/Ven/Mars.

I genuinely enjoy volunteering and giving back and hope to establish my own non-profit organization. It's a major life goal. I've been interested in this work since early childhood, so it's a very authentic part of me (in reference to the very valid comments prior about people touting their humanitarianism but actually pursuing it for selfish reasons). I attribute this to: Moon in the 10th house
Moon conjunct Chiron (1 degree orb)
Moon trine Uranus + Neptune (2 degree orb)
Sun in the 11th house
Potentially NN in Scorpio + in the 12th house
12th house stellium, which includes both the Sun, Moon, and ASC ruler The day-to-day work I do now is in the spirit of helping others, too. It's not on a huge scale, but I do appreciate the difference I am able to make. IP: Logged |

Exactly what Belage said, your 12th house stellium would for sure magnify this (I knew someone with their Moon/South Node in the 12th house and they'd easily sell their limbs if it could benefit someone/the collective over themselves) IP: Logged |

I know a girl like this especially with the 12th house stellium. She's a long time friend of my family. She did this most of her life, and then in her 40's she grew to hate and resent everyone because she gave so much but had no dreams of her own realized. Last I heard, she was overtly just hoping people would die and stopped caring. IP: Logged |

I somewhat disagree. I have my Sun/Moon in the 12th. I don’t think I would lose a limb if it’s gonna help someone. I do however have a desire to make greater/permanent change that’s not “spoon-fed”. My Mars (in Cancer) conjuncts Chiron precisely and opposes Neptune. Neptune conjuncts NN and trines Sun. Still, nope won’t lose a limb although I’d damn well make sure they’re protected. But not at my own expense. I actually think I’m a bit selfish. Unfortunately. Maybe my Mars in the second house conjunct SN contributes to it. IP: Logged |

I think Chiron may play a role. Maybe involving the Arabic po of Destiny?
I'm thinking humanitarianism is small potatoes in comparison to people like Karen Silkwood, Erin Brokovich.
Of course more publically noteable ones such as Malcolm X,
Martin Luther King Jr., and Harvey Milk.
*I'm listing these based upon their giving of themselves - to even the very end of their lives (with exception of Ms. Brokovich)

It depends on the inner specific intentions, but often very strong Jupiter, Neptune, Pisces, and/or 12th House patterns most strongly correlate to this. To a lesser extent, sometimes strong/highlighted Aquarius, Capricorn, and/or Sagittarius can contribute since these are all the Universal/collective Signs, and in an archetypal sense at least, are geared to thinking more about the collective than the little, personal, selfish self. (Not saying this actually works out in practice--that is often dependent on the individual chart and the strongest Planetary energies especially. A Capricorn or Aquarius with a predominant Mars, Saturn, Pluto, Moon, and/or Mercury is going to tend to be less altruistic and collective oriented than what the Signs have potential for).
