Found an old thread and thought it was something fun.I’m also currently obsessed with fragrances.
http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/009265.html

During warmer months,I love aquatics and light florals.
Colder months,l go for perfumes with spice notes

Always preferred Curve by Liz Claiborne over Cool Water
Burberry Body EDT
Bombshell Paradise VS
Heavenly VS
Curve Crush
Good Girl by Carolina Herrera
Fancy Love by Jessica Simpson

Sun,Moon,Venus in Gemini,Aries Rising also have Saturn/Uranus aspecting Gemini planets

I very much dislike anything Fruity and excessively sweet.I’m thinking it’s because I don’t have a lot feminine placements…only a Pisces Mars.

I'm a certified perfumoholic! I went deeeeep down the rabbit hole, into very niche and indie territory. Complete with hunting for vintage perfume, exlusive limited editions etc., and spending more on perfume than I ever have on clothing, shoes and such. I think my perfume collection is worth in the ballpark of 5000 euro at the moment. I also a faithful reader of the Nez Olfactory Magazine, which is about the geekiest you can imagine...

I like when lots of natural ingredients are used, and I also like highly concentrated perfumes, like extraits. I never found any mainstream perfumes I liked, they were all too synthetic smelling to my nose, too light and fleeting, or I found them too stuck in gender stereotypes that made no sense to me. I want my perfumes to be very original, creative, over the top and on the verge of being too much... Eccentric, rich and decadent, or intesely animalic, or smoky, or deep dark and syrupy. I also enjoy perfumes that evoke beautiful times or places in my past.

My favorite notes include hay, immortelle, beeswax, honey, hops, tobacco absolute, cade (smoky tarry type scent), seaweed, moss, animalics, sweet balsams and resins, all manner of spices... I'm not hugely into florals, but I can enjoy some of the creamier ones. Fuits/berries I like if they are syrupy or boozy, not so much if they are fresh and juicy. Really dislike anything too sharp, fresh or soapy. Notes that are generally no-gos include rose, jasmine, lily of the valley, sharp dry incense, sharp citrus notes, any big loud synthetic notes. My signature perfume is Sova by Slumberhouse. Other big favorites are Zahd, Rume, Jeke and Baque also by Slumberhouse, Tropic of Capricorn by Olympic Orchids, Steading by Pineward Perfumes, Derviche by Rogue Perfumery...

As for astrology... Venus in Taurus 8th house is the ruler of my Libra Ascendant. I think that's the placement that makes me into such a sensual person, with a preference for darker aesthetics.

Sun in Gemini 9th, Moon in Virgo 12th. Mars, Mercury and Midheaven conjunct in Cancer. Neptune conjunct IC in Capricorn. Mars, Mercury and Uranus are all out of bounds as well as connected to the MC/IC axis, which might serve to explain my penchant for the bold and eccentric, lol! Link to full chart below.

I'm a perfume enthusiast and own a collection of over 30 perfumes. I don't have a signature scent, I use them depending on the occasion/my mood. Scents are highly emotional to me, and a way of expression. Of all five senses, it's the one that impacts me the most.

LOVE:
- White florals (tuberose, jasmine, lily).
- Musk.
- Ozonic smells (think of "smells like water" perfumes) -- I actually love this on other people, not on myself.

HATE:
- Fruity scents.
- Powdery scents (iris, violet, rose) -- they give me a headache and make me sneeze like crazy.
- Patchouli, myrrh and incense-like scents.

My most used perfumes are Alien (by Mugler), Narciso (by Narciso Rodriguez), Fracas (by Robert Piguet) and Carnal Flower (by Frederic Malle). All of them have this "femme fatale" aura, but with sophistication due to the white florals.

MY PLACEMENTS&ASPECTS (the ones I find relevant to the topic)
- Cancer Rising
- Taurus Sun (10H)
- Scorpio Moon (4H)
- Gemini Venus (11H)
- Cancer Mars (12H)
- Scorpio Pluto (4H)* only important because it conjuncts my Moon, my Moon is in the 4H and my Moon is also my chart ruler. I really feel Pluto's influence on my emotions, personality and even appearance.

- Moon/Pluto trine Mars (2°)
- Moon trine Neptune (0°)
- Moon conjunct Pluto (1°)
- Sun trine Mars (3°)
- Sun conjunct Midheaven (2°)

I used to collect so many commercial fragrances. I learned how unhealthy they were so I threw most out. I do still have a few that later I plan to review, at a later time.
What are we looking for in our charts to highliht this Libra/Tau?

My MC is Libra. I was known to be the fragrance lady. The dept store collector. One particular shoppe held special arrivals for me. I was awful. So differnt these days. I do love fragrances still. Mostly the bare versions. Coconut. Ylang Ylang. Ginger. Cherry. TBH haven't bought any in forever though. The incense might cling to me though. lol - which I revel in the cherry. Yet Woodsy ones are nice too. Everything pretty well is nicely aromatic to me in proper doses.

Pale Blue Eyes,
How'd you arrive at the houses or are those yours? I'm going to see what mine says.

@MoonMystic

They're my houses, from my birth chart.

I just selected the planets I feel are more relevant to my love for perfumes. My sense of smell and how attached I'm to it (Sun), my emotional connection to scents (Moon), the expression of my phisicality (Mars), tastes and femininity (Venus) and the 'immaterial' aspect of scents (Neptune).

Someone in the old thread mentioned Neptune ruling fragrance.
A few 6th house/Virgo moons mentioned being really picky, not liking perfume or having a preference for essential oils.

The only Pisces I have is Mars and NN.The only major aspect Neptune makes is a conjunction to my MC.

GemJams, Neptune could make sense.

My Neptune (1st face/nostrils)
trines 5th house Mars. I can say I'm a sucker for a nice smelling guy. Aramis melts me.
NN is in Pisces. I am very aromatic Centric (scent-ric).

Taurus is my 6th - Venus inspiried. There was a time where a dab of this or that was routine.

Moon in third seperate decan of Venus also in 3rd house. moon decan. Maybe this is why as a teen my gma called my bathroom a French brothel.  lmao

My Sun cnj Moon,

placidus
 H2  -Capricorn  Values
When I bought them, I aimed high but was selective.
Quality vs Quantity was my intent.
H3  - Pisces
Ylang Ylang, one of my favorite notes.
H4  - Aries
Woodsy fragrances. My Father's fam owned lumber mills, this may go back to that.
H5 - Taurus
Fun was about fragrance counters. Shopping  for shoes and perfume once was a pastime for me. Tau rules the tongue too.
Cherries, vanilla, coconut,  cinnamon,  cardamon Anything edible that was an elixer intrigued me - some enough to buy, wear.
I recall Peaches was a Body Shoppe fave once.
H7 - Gemini  Lovers and fhe one's they liked/bought me.
Parfum was an easy goto for anyone who knew me. I recall my former mate buying me Spellbound - it was the sweetest. My hubby used to take me to buy any I liked. There were a few fails in my past loves trying yo get me the right one. A BFs  mother once helped him buy me one for Christmas, it turned out to be a very heavy-powerful french one. I like Cartier this was Madame Rocha or something.
H8 - Cancer  This one is bizare and goes back to my teens. I wasn't yet exposed to  quality line fragrances.  My mom sold Avon. It was a limited ed. I forget the name but the florals were powerful. My bf and I went to his grandmother's open casket viewing - I never lost the memory of that fragrance in my nostrils during that powerful moment.   Maybe Avon lists old ones somewhere. Idk Anyway I couldn't use it after that.
H10 - Libra   I had a bunch of sweet Pink ones like Lacoste. Paris Hilton had a sugar one.  Those fit Libra maybe. - It was difficult toning down my CK Obsession when working at a research fac.when I was 20something ,Which unwell people were commonly around.  Eventually I carried it with me and only spritz if it was a safe day to.
H12 Scorpio - Guilty pleasures, Poisson, ED Hardy collection.

- I enjoy florals with a water quality. Fresh, light. Misty, soft. It's pretty sweet but in school (20s) I wore Chloe. I really enjoyed Versace and Calvin Klein. Sometimes (my fire 4th and first) Woodsy fragrances hit the right spot. Givenchy, I have to review a catalog, my memory escapes me - oh I adored Escape. Both men and women's fragrance.

Listing one's that come to mind -

This one opened me up to dept store fragrances. http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Givenchy/Ysatis-36.html

Opium
Chanel No.5
Hypnosé
Guess (original one)
Covet
Valentino - Rose n Rose
Essence Ethereal + Babydoll
by Versace

Yves Saint Laurent

I feel like an alcoholic. Looking through these old loves is beckoning me like an old lover.

this sounds like me but i dont have a 6th house or virgo moon. maybe its my virgo MC. i prefer the smell of cleanliness, fresh out of the shower smell..something faint. my general taste is similar to dumuzi especially "stuff that smells like a church".

when i was younger i could only wear unisex fragrances like CK Be or CK One. CK Contradiction for women was okay too and seemed more on the unisex side. perfumes (and colognes) would change on me and smell totally different. im thinking its my venus square mars. the unisex stuff made me feel balanced. perfumes threw me off like i was trying so hard to be a girl (even though i am a girl?).

i found a 20 year old bottle of CK Be a few weeks ago, put some on and had a full-on allergy attack. i seem to be very sensitive to chemicals these days. getting too heavy on essential oils messes me up too. not sure which placements or aspects.. maybe neptune in 1st. it makes a wide conjunction to a moon that squares my MC/IC.

I love a good perfume discussion!

I was a perfumoholic a few years back, but have tried to downsize during recent years and stick only to the ones I crave most often (currently 6).

I've found fixed signs the most interested in the fragrance world.

Here is my ranking for the perfumoholics (Sun, Mo, Ven, AC):

1. Taurus (kings and queens of smells)
2. Cancer
3. Leo/Scorpio/Aquarius
4. Libra

So delightful to read you. You are a true perfumaholic.

I too am always on the hunt for vintage perfume, but for me, it is the ones that have the now outlawed oakmoss, which to me is a truly divine scent.

I was not that much into perfume until I discovered the ingredient oakmoss, which in its natural state as used in perfume decades earlier is so intoxicating to me.

I attribute my fascination with Oakmoss to having 3 personal planets in earthy Virgo.

And then soon after I discovered I had a thing for oakmoss, the perfume industry stopped using it because of complaints of it being an allergenic. I attribute this to my 3 planets in earthy Virgo being square to my nodes=> what I love is always at odds with the times.

Since I can't have my beloved oakmoss in perfume anymore, I don't really buy perfume, I only use essential oils and my favorites are Ylang Ylang, jasmine, and orange blossom. I guess these flowery notes appeal to my 3 libra placements.

I haven’t worn perfume for years, because there seemed to be no point when I wasn’t going out much (or at all), and then people would talk about others wearing strong perfume, if they were allergic.

I don’t really know what’s out there. When it comes to flowers and essential oils, I like the smell of honeysuckle and jasmine.

For oakmoss I can recommend that you look into some of the independent American brands. The IFRA regulations that ban oakmoss for use in perfume are an EU thing, and the mainstream brands that want to sell on the EU market have conformed to the ban. But some of the smaller players outside of the EU still use oakmoss. For modern oakmoss I love Rogue Perfumery, especially Chypre-Siam and Mousse Illuminée.

EloquentSky,I don’t have any planets in those signs.I have Moon in 2nd house and a Libra DSC.

I liked stronger green scents when I was younger.I loved Green Tea by Elizabeth Arden.Even Good Girl is a really strong scent.I don’t where those types of perfumes out anymore.1)It does bother some people 2)I don’t like calling attention to myself.I’ll put some on before bed just cause I like the smell.

Where do you guys get essential oils from? I would like to try them.

I’m kind of a hoarder with perfume and body sprays.

I’ve accumulated so many. Some are gifts, some I bought. I’ve dabbled in making my own as well. Sometimes I’ll just use a straight up roller ball of an EO.

I’m not too picky with fragrances. It’s very rare for me to be repulsed by a scent.

I am not ready to list all of mine, I haven’t unpacked them all since moving.

My Aquarius Mars likes to keep people on their toes. I don’t like wearing the same fragrance two days in a row.

I use to pick fragrances based on which bottle represents the outfit I have on that day. But when you have so many bottles, doing a different bottle each day when you have so many…more bottles are coming in than out. Over abundance….I’ll point to my Jupiter in the second house.

But then my 6th house moon and Pluto got an idea to keep things a little more under control. Use the biggest bottles when I am at home.
And use the smallest bottle as purse/travel perfume.

I still have too much, but this has been helpful for me actually finishing a bottle.
My Aries sun would start but not finish. But thanks to my Saturn Capricorn I can finish what I start now.

Anyone else knows what is PETRICHOR?

This thread made me delve into unusual scents, and I remember the feeling of euphoria I used to get as a child the rare time I could smell the earth when the rain just start falling on it. That unusual scent is called PETRICHOR.

So I searched for fragrances that captured this smell and apparently they exist!! There is a whole niche devoted to unusual almost fetishy fragrances:

https://youtu.be/Pna8PCES9nA

My earth planets are in heaven!
I will be buying some of them, not to wear them, but to use them as home fragrances.

Yes, Petrichor is what we usually call "the smell of rain". Which is actually the smell of the SOIL when hit by rain.

There's a brand called Demeter that experiments with these scents. They have a Petrichor fragrance, but I don't think it captures the scent well. They also have one called 'Thunderstorm' and another one called 'Dust' that are more similar to petrichor (imo). If you check their catalogue, they have all sorts of nature smells (grass, beach, salt, kitty fur...).

From that video, I have the Narciso Rodriguez one (I have several versions of Narciso's perfumes, I just love them) and it truly smells like petrichor as well.

Fascinating! I will check Demeter as well.

I wonder what sign or planet rules the olfactory senses, the sense of smell.

ETA: I just noticed Demeter has a fragrance called Funeral Parlor! This is so Plutonian! Demeter was one of the main character in the story of Pluto and Persephone...and you have a heavy plutonian chart. But that Gemini Venus can lighten things up a bit for you.
