I'm going to be hired to work as a early childhood education assistant. But I don't know if I'd really be a good fit. All I have is Neptune in the 5th house which squares my Venus.

The very fact that you have doubt and that you have to ask...

I personally think you really have to love children to be good working with young children.

In any field, when we love what we are doing, we are good at it because we will go the extra mile and we will infuse our work with the love we have for it.

I'm asking because most people say you need fifth house placements in order to enjoy working with children. I'm not against working with young children I know they can be a handful. But I love being a service to others (Moon in 6th house). And young children would appreciate it more so than most adults.

Hello ChildOfVenus,

Your Moon in 6th is routine. Motherly. Albeit Aqua is detatched, how much 1:1 will you need or is it a group supervisor role?
(my Moon is Aqua too, not 6th but we do well in grps we align in - people warm and accepting)

Your NN is sextile with Chiron. You feel a pull towards self healing and maybe of others? Looking at the opposition to chiron, You are best with a firm format.  Same group of kids, locale etc. Otherwise Uranus could behave against you with an MC in Tau.

I would consider Moon before Venus in terms of the care to others, that are children *jmo. As it is the Motherly quality.
Neptune is the higher vibration to Venus, which is a plus. Neptune doesn't bring the lower vibes Venus can tap.
in first decan of Capricorn (business), Though it squares your nn, you may not feel this is the right fit.  Could be why you may have hesitation or *uncertainty.
Chiron in 10th is not easy.
Moon in 6th @13° aqua - sabian "a Barometer" - you may be emotionally receptive to children. - if your heart is in the position, in which you fill with them (children) - it could work for you&them!
Your wounded healer Chiron does ache to find your place, children can be very accepting of elders. As they are new here.and Usually less superficial - dep on their upbringing, social surroundings etc.  Which it feels this would really touch your soul to be in a accepted atmosphere.

(Leo/Virgo Asc, you have a motherly quality) You are able to operate well with 5th house qualities. *I had a friend who went into Early childhood edu. and loved children. She is Virg Sun. Nothing she did , wasn't related to Disney, cartoons, games and singing. You might have a love of child things. Games, movies  etc. Look deep within to see your childlike qualities.
The person who can be more childlike will excel in this area.
Have you tried the Child asteroid? or POF?
Prosperpina ... other's could be of assistance seeing these facets too.

I think .of Mars as a child sort of, as Aries represents that.
You have chiron AND Mars there!

Jupiter in 13° Aries (the child sign) cnj your NN.
You have an optimistic,  generous and fun way about you.

I read on this site: http://www.zodiacsigns-horoscope.com/taurus/taurus-career-horoscope/ in terms of creative endeavors,  you could be brill
at cooking or any art maybe. Would you be helping the children with art projects?

The assistant asteroids for your potential job -
4580 Child
 4017 Disneya
Compassion  8990 & 451 Patienta (patience)

PS - Dare I say, because I know from my Moon too - we are easily tapped into FANTASY. The whimsical part of Aquarius is strong with the Moon + your Neptune supports that (Saturn brings the career touch to it and grounds you too). Children adore Whimsical!

~ If you *FEEL* you could benefit others/and self ... just go for it. Who cares what others say, think ~ just understand you first.

@MoonMystic: Yes this school is all about creative expression. The children learn different arts and crafts they do learn to cook as well. On certain days they cook and make bread. I do think it would be a good experience for me.

This is the school: https://www.detroitwaldorf.org/

Okay, I see why you asked that question.

Fifth house placements are not the only requirements. I would think for instance, mercury in 6th house would help. Even mercury in 10th house. Fifth house in aries. Asteroid child in 6th house or 10th house...

By all means, if you FEEL you could do this with a love within for the position and them (the children), you would do well. Please explore your chart and your Progressed one as well you could draw up the synastry (¤t pr midpts) between you and the employer.

- Regarding the school, yes, if you find *feel* this connection and your chart fit, this does look perfect but if you are uncertain heart centric, it might be good to think it over.
It does look promising if so!

Congrats childofvenus!

I started off as an assistant teacher too, and I love it!

I started in the field in August 2010 and finished in 2018.

I became the teacher in 2018.

I do miss being the assistant sometimes. Especially at my first job. I spend time with the kids who make my day. I get to do art projects with them. The cleaning is very easy and basic, and can be a nice change of pace. Oh and if you are doing it in a school the breaks are awesome. But if you actually want a break, knowing how to save on such little pay is important.

Yes please keep us posted on how you like it!

I hope you get a positive first impression like I did. Stayed there from 2010-2016. As much as I loved it there they would not give me full time hours.
I was a full time assistant somewhere else from 2016-18. If that place was my first impression of the field, who knows what I would be doing today.

I have never left a job because of kids.

I also have 6 house moon. I think a good vibe work environment is very important for this placement.

I think depending on the teacher, they can have different curriculum preferences as well as considering the center giving the first impression.

Highscope
Reggio Amelia
Montessori
That’s all I can remember right now.

Sometimes people learn the hard way what age group suites them best.

With my degrees I can teach/care for ages 0-8

With degree and all I did not have a good time doing Montessori for ages 18 months to 3. I could go on about why I don’t like this curriculum. And on top of that I worked closely w/ a bunch of mean toxic 8itches. So why I dislike Montessori, I try to give a little bit of the benefit of the doubt that not everyone in Montessori is a toxic 8itch like I experienced. And I’m so that I had previous experience to realize this ain’t normal or healthy when I was there.

Heads up, in my experience it’s very easy for people to judge you if you ever complain. “Are you happy?” If I am super focused during my prep time.If you are on summer break and you tell people what you do for a living with out gushing about it….I’ll get a “do you like your job?” Teachers can be pretty dehumanized by others.
Oh and expressing wanting things to change in your field….sometimes people will think they are being supportive when they suggest you change fields.
Like when I say “I want consistent hours” because I am sick of covering everyone’s shifts when no one is willing to cover mine I asked for a month in advance. Good people, they just don’t get it. A fair as possible work environment is also important teaching or not.

Talk to me anytime. I’ll try to look closer at your chart and keep this topic hot!

That right Waldorf is the other Curriculum! I've heard great things about that school you are going to be working at.

It sounds neat. I watched a video on that curriculum in community college and think, maybe I would of liked school more if I had that sort of curriculum.

Thank you for your input I assume it will be a group setting we are supposed to just watch over the children. Some of them may be in their teens as well (8th graders) But let them be themselves with little interruption as possible.

Thanks That's great that you've heard good things about the school. My neighbor who is an art teacher works there. She told me about the position. She has told me a lot of good things about it. I think I'll enjoy it based on what I've read. They increased the pay recently. Yes, it is important that I like the environment where I work. I can't work in a place if I don't like the vibe. I've realized that's important for people with Moon in the 6th house.

I'll keep you updated I think it will be a good experience for me.

Last week was my first week and so far I like it. The children are all sweet and the parents are kind too. I love observing all of their different personalities. I think they are going to help me to become more emotionally expressive. I never thought I'd like to work with children. Especially when I only have Neptune in the 5th house. But actually, I do see the correlation. This school is a magical place and with my Neptune being in the 5th house it makes sense that I would enjoy the environment.

That's awesome to hear ChildofVenus. Glad to hear that you are enjoying it so far. Children can help to keep our heart more open.

I only have Neptune in my 5th and I've worked a lot with children in the past. For the most part, I enjoyed it.* It's been awhile though since I have. Mostly because the jobs I were working didn't pay much. I have some debt I'm trying to get out of.

* It was like children could more see me as is which was nice. For example, I had a particularly bright and aware 3rd grade student once ask me in all seriousness, "Are you magic?"

Happy for you Child of Venus!

There is an astrologer woman who has videos (and books) on her educative approaches in classroom teaching. She plans approaches to learning based on that class-year's Jupiter Sign, and the teacher's Saturn.

Jupiter changes signs around once a year.

Bend and stretch, reach for the stars,
There goes Jupiter, here comes Mars.
Bend and stretch, reach for the sky,
Stand on tippy toes, oh so high!

Bend and stretch, ever so high,
Mercury, Venus and Saturn go by,
Planets, stars, comets, the moon,
See them twinkle and shimmer and zoom.

Bend and stretch, see me grow,

Head to toe , toe to head,
Down, down, down in my warm snug bed.

I made a mistake earlier. Mercury is also in my 5th widely conjunct Sun that is right on the 6th House cusp (which I feel in a sense pulls it back some into the 5th as well).

In your chart, Sag Uranus is right on your 5th House cusp (may as well be in the 5th) and Sag Saturn is cusping into the 5th some as well.

Cusps act a bit like conjunctions with planets, meaning there is an orb range of the conjunction on either side, though with a cusp, its more on the left side (or previously House) of the cusp.

So if the Cusp is say at 25 degrees Sag, then when a Planet gets near that area from the previous House, it will start blending into the next cusp/House. This is very noticeable with the Angles, which have a wide orb range. With the other House cusps, it's more like a 6 to 7 degree range.

In the above example then, if the Planet is at like 19 degrees Sag, it will be starting to blend into that next House some as well. It becomes very noticeable when it's 3 degrees or less. When it is right on the House cusp, like Uranus is in your chart, then for all intents and purposes, it is in that next House.

And having your Desc and Moon rulers involved with your 5th (especially Uranus), is an indication that you can develop close relationships with children, and be very intuitive with them and their needs (especially since Neptune is also there).

I really think this is a great path for you!
