Greetings,

I originally posted the message below to the "astrology for beginners" section, but I was advised to post it here, too. So, here it goes...

This is my first time posting here, and I am a complete newbie, so please bear with me. I am trying to find out my exact birth time for my natal chart, so I am trying to help find some clues that can help me along the way. The good news is I have a relatively narrow time frame to check (3 hours or so), so maybe it is not impossible. Anyway, at the moment, I am trying to list a number of major events in my life, and see if I can match them with potential planetary placements. One such major event is a house fire that destroyed our home when I was four years old. Which astrological house would be a good place to look for clues for such an event do you think?

Also, I had Rh-disease that led me to have three complete blood transfusions within one week of my birth, followed by three surgeries (unrelated cause) when I was 5,6 and 13 years old. I am assuming that Mars in the 8th house in my (potential) birth chart may have caused these health events, and the house fire, but would this make sense? I am entirely self-taught, so I may be completely wrong, of course. Therefore, I would appreciate any help that would send me in the right direction. Thank you.

If by placements you mean natal placements, I don't recommend that strategy. There are a number of reasons for this, but I won't go into that unless you inquire more specifically. I'll just say it can easily mislead you when you're working with a novice or intermediate level of understanding.

The 4th, of course. But again, that does not necessitate a natal planet like Mars or the other malefic actually in your 4th house.

What you need to focus on is [b]you. Your personality, your idiosyncrasies. Read my Rising Sign Descriptions for the time frame in question. Better yet, include the two previous rising signs in your reading. http://kannonmcafee.wordpress.com/rising-signs/

I suggest you also look at my Rectification page to see what accurate rectification involves and requires: http://kannonmcafee.wordpress.com/rectification/

Your best bet at arriving yourself at a reasonably accurate chart is to stay focused first and foremost on finding your correct rising sign. Email me if you need help sifting through the info. Make this your #1 objective.

Set aside thoughts of planet placements by house and all considerations of life events for now. Just focus on narrowing down to the correct rising sign. Then, we can talk about ways to narrow it down further.
