I am interested in hearing about 4th house experiences, especially those with tough planets in them. The thread on absent fathers prompted me to think about this.

My daughters have malefic in their 4th houses. My oldest has Pluto in the 4th, and 4th ruled by Scorpio. My youngest has Uranus in the 4th, and 4th ruled by Aquarius.

I split from their father years ago and he is present in their lives, but is not necessarily a healthy influence. I have had my concerns about him but there is no proof of my worries.

I can see myself in my daughters' 4th houses. I am Plutonian and I also practice mysticism, am very spiritual, and likely bring much of the occult into their lives. For my younger daughter, I am Uranian in the sense that I don't abide by typical rules of society. I am definitely outside of the box. I am stable, steadfast, and definitely their role model. But I also am balancing parenting with working and building my own business, so Uranus seems fitting.

No abuse. But unusual upbringing for their times. My own 4th is unoccupied, but ruled by Neptune and that is fitting. I didn't understand my childhood, never fit in, was lost most of the time thinking I didn't even belong. I experienced emotional and verbal abuse... Neptune is square my Venus and Mars. And my mom is a Pisces.

What are your experiences? What's in your 4th, what's it ruled by, afflictions?

Some might say 4th house can be compared to a cancer placement.
My grandma had Pluto in Cancer.

When her mom was pregnant with her, her dad fell off a bridge he was working on. Making him disabled right before the great depression. And my grandma was the youngest of 8. They all had to work. Her oldest brother had to drop out of school to support the family. My grandma had to sell donuts on the street that her mom made to make ends meet.
A church tried to take her and her brother(the two youngest) to be adopted by a less struggling family. Her mom had to stand her ground for them to not be taken away.
I believe that's why her mom would tell all the kids to go hide if someone came over.
One day my Grandma came home from school and her mom had to sell their dog.

She married but also experienced domestic violence. Her husband would attempt to "hit on" all her sisters. Would **** away all their money. Had repo come to their house a few times. My grandpa also had another family with kids and never told my grandma. This made my grandma divorce him, but then remarry because of her catholic faith.

The later years of her life were better with family all of her four boys turned out fine. She had 11 grandkids. And I've lost count of her great grandkids. She lived to be 96.

Wow, I am curious what house that was for her. I am guessing you don't know her birth time? That must have been such a challenging experience, everything she went through and she definitely learned to grow through her family traumas.

Not sure about her time. Gosh looking up a birth certificate from 1922.

I know she had a Leo moon. I wonder if it was conjunct her Neptune. She was a devout catholic. While churches can have a reputation these days. I learned that it was the church who would step in and help the family from time to time. She also made sure her four boys went to Catholic school with the intention that none of them turned out like their father.

4th to me describes that which is hidden from view and (just like 12th and 8th) is the house of mysteries.

Because we don't know what happens after we have been laid to rest in our "final resting place"(Ic). Nor can recall much of what happened to us PRIOR to birth. The IC then could be the soul's point of entry as well as exit?🤔

The IC is perhaps not so much a "resting place" as it is a place of "exit" when we "die". For life doesn't really "end" does it? But we do "transc-end". And ancients may have misinterpreted the meaning of the word?

The Sun(soul) cannot "die". But the 4th house is "loss" for the Sun (it is 12th from the 5th) OR perhaps more fitting, the transcendent point(12th) of the Sun.But this is not "loss of life" as incorrectly interpreted. But transmutation from one form of life to another.

Is the sperm not essentially fluid? And is fluids not affiliated with Neptune and Pisces and 12th? So when we enjoy pleasure (5th) through sex, as men we can "lose" ourselves through ejaculation.

So then(by consequence) the Father's (5th) core essence(fluid-sperm) transmutates from one physical life form(his) into another (new born).

The 4th is the Father to me. I thought that it's likely a case by case basis between 4th and 10th. But it seems more and more likely that 4th is the Dad.

In my case, I was adopted (Father who raised me is not my Biological Father).
So I look at my 4th house of "Father". And the ruler of my 4th house is Moon. Moon is in the 3rd and is therefore 12th from the 4th.The Father(Moon)is hidden (12th) from me. Or else the Father's identity is unknown.

Sometimes this 12th house association can also suggest an emotionally/ physically distant relationship from the Father. This is true in my case. And even the Sun(generic significator of Father )is conj Nep/Jup (generic rulers of the 12th house).

The revelation of my true Father was hidden from me by Mom(Mc) and only revealed to me when Ura was parallel Asc and Plu parallel Mc. Natal Merc(ruler of 3rd house) was also conj trans Plu.

whoa Aries, that was a lot to take in.

So let's walk through this. Me- 4th in Pisces, no planets, but SN is there. Ruler is Neptune, and Neptune is in 1st in Sag. Neptune squares Mars Venus mp, but also wide squares to Mars and Venus each. 5 degrees for Mars and 6 degrees for Venus. My father either has a Sag moon or Scorpio, and he is Scorpio Sun. But my father doesn't feel like a Sag influence to me. He worked in technology and banking systems, was quiet, reserved, and not really available to me. He did struggle with alcohol, but never overwhelmingly so. Faithful to my mom and still married.

My daughter- 4th house Scorpio, with ruler Pluto in 4th as well. SN there too. Her father is a Cancer Sun, Moon and Mercury, and emotionally manipulative. Her Pluto is opposite her Sun/Moon mp.

My 2nd daughter- 4th in Aqua, with ruler Uranus in 4th. Neptune conjunct IC in 4th. He is erratic? He has Uranus sextile Mars, but nothing else. Neptune conjunct IC makes sense bcs I don't think she sees him for who he really is.

But for both my girls 4th could be either mom or dad. I am Neptune and Uranus and Pluto for them. So is he. It depends on which way you flip the coin.

@stonemoon

4th house in Pisces. Where is Jupiter? What sign is it in?

I like to look at traditional rulers for these things.

Your daughter-4th house Scorpio. Where is Mars? What sign is it in?

Your 2nd daughter-4th house Aqua. Where is Saturn? What sign is it in?

Me- Jupiter is in 8th house, widely conjunct Sun (7degrees), sextile Mars (1 degree)in 10th, and square Pluto (5 degrees) in 11th.

Daughter 1- Mars in Aqua, 6th house, trine Moon in 10th Gem, square Venus in Taurus 9th. So her ruler is in 2nd house from the 4th. I am not sure how to interpret that.

Daughter 2- Saturn in Leo, 9th. Square Scorpio ASC, trine Moon in Sag 2nd house. So her ruler Saturn is 4th from the 4th house... and he is a Cancer Sun, Moon, and Mercury.

To give background- we divorced almost 10 years ago. He went from a highly educated (3 degrees- including MBA and JD), employed man to one who worked minimum wage jobs, got evicted for nonpayment of rent, moved in to his mom's house for free, goes between not working and working minimum wage jobs, doesn't pay child support unless forced, and has been threatened repeatedly by courts to be put in jail. He lives in a world of entitlement and believes he is a victim of the world.

He also gained a massive amount of weight and now struggles with Type II diabetes and other health issues. I didn't see the lies and holes in the marriage until the day I left. He will blow all his money on going out to eat and going to movies and then not pay rent and bills. But he puts up a good face- Libra ASC- and always has homemade meals for them, buys them expensive things, gives them random money...

Realizing how much my 2nd child is a copy of me- we have many of the same placements and houses. Interesting and now I want to explore those connections in family relationships, too!
