I have Sun conjunct mercury in the 3rd house and man i talk a lot to myself. I have actual conversations with myself like i’m talking to someone. I can ask questions and answer myself, pretend to speak to someone when i’m actually just talking to thin air. I have even been caught a few times doing this and it’s so embarressing. I have a lot of thoughts racing through my mind and i find it hard to just ‘’think’’ it and feel the need to speak it instead, but i’m also a 12th house moon so a lot of my thoughts and feelings i keep to myself so it just turns into me having conversations with myself. Before i used to managed to just think about something without opening up my mouth but then maybe like 6 years ago i started to become like this. I don’t talk loud and sometimes not even a sound comes out when i know people might be near by but my mouth be still open like it’s talking to some(thing) and like i have lost my damn mind. Is there anything that might help reduce this need to talk to myself?

I'm a Gemini Moon/Venus, and I do this. It happens a lot more, when I've been spending too much time by myself. Last week, I said (to myself ) that I have got to stop talking to myself.

One thing I picked up unconsciously, is speaking something aloud, that I am typing (or want to type). I never did this before, and I think it came from watching streamers, as I was doing other things. They pick up their phones to text people, and they speak as they type. It annoys me when I do it, and it's disturbing how it just sneaked up and became a habit.

I've always had trouble switching off, unless I'm exhausted and fall asleep right away, or am able to relax.

My mind doesn't rest easy. I live mostly in my head. So yes, I have a lot of conversations going on there. My moon is in the 3rd house.

I would imagine this is also true of

Ic in Gemini
Mercury conj/square/opp the Ic
Ruler of the Ic conj/square/opp Merc
Moon in Gem
Moon opp/conj/square Mercury

Coz i see the above as my "fraternal twins"

Yes haha i also have a moon/mercury aspect. Do you have a hard time sleeping or if you take one ‘’wrong’’ move in bed your sleep might go away very quickly? Or you have to fall asleep right where you are for example in your home if you almost fall asleep on the couch it’s best to just stay there bc just moving one inch might ruin it and your suddenly all awake again?

Yes Yes yes to all. Really frustrating. I have to exhaust my head before turning in for the night otherwise i will not sleep. I keep the TV outside my bedroom.

I also love travelling around or being in a moving vehicle. I actually would love to have different homes in different parts of the country. Just so I can spend time travelling between places to see each home❤❤

I would like this, too. Or just to be able to move around if I want to. Spend the night in a hotel.

I have three different bedrooms to choose from, as long as it's just me and my dad here. When the rooms aren't cluttered. I need to get a new bed, or mattress, I've been on the couch, because of my dog. I slept in the spare room, this weekend. I don't like staying there for long, the room does me in after a while, but it was nice to stretch out.

I also love to be a passenger in the van. It just clears my head.

Me too🤣🤣.I am exactly the same. I change the bedrooms I sleep in constantly at home. And love hotel stays.😊 Its a very restless placement.

How do you feel about Gemini placements? This in particular Sun in Gem/Moon in Gem?

I know you probably asked Teasel but for me Gemini moons are too much ‘’Gemini’’ for my taste. I can’t keep up with them and i also get annoyed with their restless or ‘’seeming to be stressed’’ attitudes. I am a ‘’homey’’ Cancerian moon and can’t be on the go all the time. Also they are too debative too. I like Gemini placements that are watered down. Like people that are born in the early 80’s with Gemini placements can have Neptune in opposition to their placements where i feel it adds a more softer sensitive calmer touch to them.

Absolutely 🙌🏿. Moon in Cancer in 3rd house here too. I dated a Moon in Gem square Sun in Virgo. And yes, they were all over the place.

But I think the one thing that got me annoyed the most was their lack of consistency & attention span. There was also huge insensitivity with words used and a tendency to play mind games and lie.

I think when Moon is in 3rd house and in a water sign, words tend to have a powerful emotive force. So this moon may be vigilant in how they express themselves.

Discourse(3rd) has a very personal (Moon) tone when we speak of this position. Either through expressing words verbally or writing.

So I think Gem Moon looks at communication from a point of view of "what is being said". But Moon in 3rd house is "how it's being said". The former can often detach and even make fun of sensitive subjects for comic relief. The latter tends to not have such an approach. Often absorbing the subject matter and retaining its essence in a more personal/attached way.

For example Moon in Gemini may say some pretty cutting things and then forget they said those things. Whereas Moon in 3rd avoids saying cutting things (unless irritated or pressed by emotions or excitable in some way).

So when Moon in 3rd is stuck on something said by Moon in Gemini, the Moon in Gemini doesn't understand why its so impactful on them? etc. "It's only words. I didn't mean it".

But Moon-3rd does not hear just "words". But the tone of delivery too. And Moon in 3rd often assumes that Gemini Moon(like them) means everything they say.

No. Gemini Moon does not. Everything is only contextual for them. Sometimes they'll even say things that you want to hear🤷🏿‍♂️ Words that are empty in essence but done for the sake of lip service or momentary gratification☝🏿

Moon in 3rd-The interviewer. Looking to engage with the subject being interviewed and encourage disclosure.

Moon in Gem-the commentator or journalist. Fleeting from one "relevant" subject matter to the next without any sizeable emotional attachment to any of them.

Oh, that isn't me. Although if I'm being insensitive (and it isn't unintentional), it's usually been a long time coming. There are certain things I will not listen to, anymore.

My moon/venus are conjunct in Gemini. Square Mars in Pisces, sextile Jupiter, trine Pluto. Inconjunct Uranus/ascendant.

I don't really know. I like them. I don't subscribe to the ideas that are usually pushed about them. I do have a love of words: when I was a teenager, I worked through a book that taught me a number of words every day. Some I knew, some were completely new to me. I also worked through a science book for fun (after I'd left school). My intellectual and artistic interests were balanced. I could lose myself in my art, just as much as I could in a book. But there were times when I was depressed - just before I dropped out of school - when I completely forgot about a homework assignment.

I try to make lists and work through them. To simplify, otherwise my brain gets too crowded, and I can't do anything. A month ago, I finally got some plants in the ground. Two weeks ago, I finally got some fertilizer in the earth around them. It felt good. Too much pressure will have the opposite effect.

One thing that can help, is writing everything out, brain drain. Another time, when I was into the tarot, I did a tarot reading and that relaxed me. I used to work out (not pushing through the pain - that is not me - just enough to relax, or if I enjoyed something). I just found a little fitness ball that weighs 2lbs, that was in the basement, that you throw back and forth, or just use a weight. I can juggle that between my hands, and hopefully strengthen my arms a bit, as well as think and walk, or watch something.

I also look at how something is being said, and why. I can do backflips analyzing, so I try not to do that anymore. Plus, I'm trying not to hold onto the extreme social anxiety.

I've had Pisces moons say some extremely cutting things to me. I don't think air has anything to do with it. I've never thought that words don't matter, and I don't want to be lied to. My mum once told me that she would lie to me, if I had a boyfriend she didn't like, and I said, "You'd better not! I want to know if you think they're the human equivalent of excrement." Or you could just say "**** ". Unfortunately, people think that I can take anything. I was either cast as someone who needed to be protected at all costs, that I could take anything - or, more often, I was supposed to take absolutely everything. I'm supposed to be like teflon, things were supposed to bounce off me. That doesn't happen unless something really doesn't matter to me anymore.

@teasel. You come across more sensitive on here. I think that Mars in Pisces definitely contributes to that touch.

So I wouldn't say you fit the mould of the Gem Moon I dated and have interacted with. The ex could be very douchey 🤣. He lacked water. But I hold no contempt for him.

Insensitivity is not exclusive to a certain sign. I agree. 👌🏿

Columnist tip: One of the advantages of talking to yourself is you eventually discover your lede. The real one, not that mess up too that’s been stinking up your screen.

When I first moved out and my friend was staying in my parent's basement she would complain that she couldn't sleep in because she would talk to the cat in the morning.
