Does it get better?

It was supposed to be a June 14th-December 17th contract, but I've been unemployed since being laid-off (on good terms, to be honest) August 27th 2021. Life has been hard since then though. Aiming to be a successful attorney by 30, I resumed full-time undergrad that September. Unfortunately, my performance in those 3 courses was inadequate, due to depression and horrid insomnia; which led to me dropping out of 2 before the refund deadline, and exchanging 1 course with a May-August 2022 summer school course. I passed with a 93.

Bad news is, my father's prostate cancer which first arrived April 2007, and was 100% treated via radiotherapy Winter 2012, returned 2x faster May 2018. 2019 arrived, he developed rheumatoid arthritis.

What surprises me the most, is that he told NO ONE about his 1st prostate-cancer diagnosis, until mid-2020. And, refused to do any form of surgery. Somewhat to his luck though, his prostate cancer did not metastasize to his bones, until January 2021; followed by metastasizing to his liver August 2021. Ultimately leading to this passing, February 8th at 5am. I miss him quite a bit.

I gained 23 lbs of pure body after his funeral, had tremendous trouble losing it. After 2 months of a breakfast at 8am-only intermittent-fasting schedule, my weight has returned to the mid120s. Aiming to reach 105lbs 10% body fat in 2023. I'm 5'2 though!

I'm sad I haven't been able to find a job since being laid-off over a year ago. I've also had a pretty lonely year. I'll be honest though; my boyfriend and I got back together in August, and since my 3rd year of undergrad began in September, I've felt slightly less lonely, and a bit happier. My Mom signed a new house early 2020, and we just moved in the 3rd week of October. I'm in love with the new space of my room! Still struggling immensely with unemployment though.

If anyone is experienced, here are my details:
August 4th 1998 at 3:17am in Montreal, Quebec.

This year held my Jupiter return, too, and it has been tough.

Each time my Jupiter returned was a huge leap forward for me.

Age 12 I left my mother and moved with my father a few states away.
Age 24 I had my 1st child
Age 36 I completely abandoned my career and took up a brand new one that I'm much happier with.

None of these were particularly negative, but all were major life changes that drastically shaped who I am now.

Better? It's not a stressful transit. It is neutral to positive if you want to put it in positive/negative terms.

What you're perceiving as negative is certainly attached to longer or more obviously stressful transits. People over-simplify the Jupiter return as if it is supposed to bring them double luck and erase the normal challenges of life.

Depending on accompanying transits (and the natal layout/aspects), people have widely varying experiences during the Jupiter return (or any other return or transit).

The Jupiter return resets your understanding of how the expansion principle needs to work for you. That could mean some unexpected events or changes that could influence your life decisions moving forward. Your natal aspect of Mercury quincunx Jupiter shows that you have a tendency towards skewed understanding of luck, expansion, learning, communication that requires you to take a second look at what you thought you understood. It isn't a matter of intelligence, but of needing to adjust perspective to include what is actually occurring, what you are actually experiencing. Your natal aspect of Jupiter conjunct Neptune shows idealism that can be very positive if given a channel for expression, but tends to some pie-in-the-sky idealisms earlier in life. Just redirect your very good imagination to include what you are experiencing as part of how you grow in life -- as normal. This too shall pass. You will learn from all of this to be more empowered, to know yourself and humanity better.

Look at the transits to your 6th house and Midheaven.

My condolences on the loss of your father. I'm sorry he didn't talk to you and give you some warning about his health.

With all these events and the feelings you're having through them, what is at work astrologically is Pluto contra-parallel your Asc. During the periods you've described Pluto has ranged from about 22.5° south to over 23°, and now 22.9°. That's very much within contra-parallel to your Asc.

The meaning of Pluto contra-parallel natal Asc is very much like what you went through with Pluto opposite Asc. It is a time of testing your personal empowerment and purpose, especially via key relationships. It can involved secrecies, withheld information or blocked communications, conflicts, and power struggles.
