What are all of your thoughts on degree theory? I've been studying astrology for about 5 years and this is something I haven't looked into. I'd love to hear other thoughts

I don't know if this is what you mean....
but I really notice that when a planet is in the exact decimal points it can be a huge turning point. Especially with big planets.

I think it's useful for getting into the details. The way I see it, a planet is mostly influenced by four things: sign, house, degree, and aspects to other planets or angles. Degree is often overlooked except when talking about aspects, which are important, but they aren't the whole story. I think it matters whether planets are in early or late degrees, and especially if they are in 29 or 0 degrees.

But I also find degree theory is a good way to look at any additional energy that might be influencing a planet. So if my Sun is in the 9th house in Scorpio at 6 degrees, I can say that in addition to Scorpio energy, the Sun has some Sagittarius and Virgo energy influencing it as well. I think that sign and house are more important than degree, but degree adds more texture and detail to the picture. Especially with aspects, I think it matters what degrees the planets are at because that affects how they're communicating with each other.

I don't take the exact degree to sign correlations too seriously, to me it's the same kind of loose association that the signs and planets have with the houses. There's a relationship, but it's not set in stone and can be kind of nebulous at times. I don't see any of the associations as rigid, just as potentially informative.

I don't know what Degree Theory is either.

Aspects and their influences get more exact by degree; it's basic geometry.

I've studied the decans as enhancers to the energies shown in the storyboard. If you have an enhanced energy it's loud and more pronounced imo. I look at us like a recipe and transits show us as new ingredients introduced to our formula.
I'm not a traditional chart reader so many might disagree with my attention to decans, yet in tarot they all have meaning too. I use them for my understanding of a story, transit and synastry info.

I like using Sabian Symbols as a visual way of looking at degrees, and I find the different degree systems intriguing. I find that I favor Rhudhyar degrees from An Astrological Mandala.

I think it's like the asteroids and points - fine-tuning knobs like on a stringed instrument.
