Oxford just announced its "Word of the Year" as "rizz," which Oxford defined as: "Pertaining to someone's ability to attract another person through style, charm, or attractiveness..." What is charisma in your opinion? And do you feel like you have it? Where can it be found in one's chart?

That would depend on what’s considered charisma by individuals.

I’ll have to think about it. Is there anyone that most people would agree on? I had one example, but it’s someone that you loathe.

How about Robin Williams?

I, personally, don’t view comedians as charismatic. Elvis, Prince, and Michael Jackson were probably unarguably charismatic.

So true! ^

Plus Marilyn, Bob Marley and so many others.

Charisma could involve a nice aspect with jupiter (luck) but it depends, if it's film, the script can dilute the persona. Neptunian, people fall for charismatic energy based on their authenticity. So those who fall from grace like Britney Spears are true charisma types. Actually I believe almost all those famed with it have in some way had falls but still - adored by others.

Jupiter, neptune might be most well aspects in a chart if such types. MC or 1st house my guess might be involved,

Yeah, but Robin Williams was more than just a comedian. People loved him, and I’ve heard stories of him showing real kindness to people IRL.

I asked exactly the same questions to my students yesterday! Well, exactly the same, except the last one. I always bring those Words of the Year in my classes, not just from Oxford UP, but also from Merriam-Webster (2023-> authentic) and Collins (2023-> AI). We discuss their definition, share our thoughts and feelings, look for examples around us and from the past and feel happy in the end of all this magic dust that words have sprinkled on us...
Charisma... Easy to define here. It's a Greek word. I use it a lot, especially with all my kids, as I always try to remind them how gifted they are and how they can succeed and become the best in the world at everything they decide to do. To me, charisma is the love you make to all this Life around us. And the dance. That dance after making love. That graceful and ethereal dance between you and our most beautiful Life. This is what a charismatic soul is to me...

Let’s not mistake charisma and talent. Someone like Elvis had unique voice and style.
I think charisma is more when someone doesn’t have extraordinary talent or appearance, but they make strong impression and make people listen.
Like Trump and Obama 😅 People hate or love them, there’s much arguing if any of them did something good or bad or nothing.
Soft Jupiter helps others to accept all such of BS you can produce, especially combination with Leo and saggy.

Elvis was a relative unknown until he was on tv for first time. Instant mania. He was called The King of Rock for a reason. Prince mesmerized huge crowds and dressed the part. Michael Jackson was called the King of Pop for a reason. Charismatic is a style of leadership--the only style that can't be taught. You either have it, or you don't.

I'd like to add Pluto to the mix, with lots of libra and aspects to the 10th house. Pluto grabs your attention, libra holds it, and the 10th house showcases them for an audience.

Elvis had Pluto in 8th house opposite sun, venus, and mercury. Mars in libra 10th house.

Prince had Pluto on MC with scorpio ascendant, Jupiter and NN in libra.

MJ had sun conjunct Pluto and mercury, Jupiter and nn in libra, sagittarius MC (jupiter ruler) conjunct saturn.

The 1st and 10th house are what you put out into the world for people to see. Sun (how you shine, leadership style), Jupiter (expansion, vision) and Venus (attraction, beauty) in these houses or in aspect to ASC/MC would be placements that walk into a room and just grab people’s attention.

Neptune (idol, glamour) also gets an honorable mention because of what people project onto them. Movie star vibes. Pluto is controversial, it can be magnetic but also repulsing. People have strong sentiments when Pluto is involved, not necessarily positive.

An aspect between Venus and Mars in the birth chart is usually an indication that there is something very attractive about their behavior, a certain creative energy. A lot of artists have this.

And maybe we can even say everyone has their own kind of charisma. Your Sun is how you shine. If you’re able to do the things in life that align with your Sun, you’ll be more charismatic.

Dolly Parton has a lot of earth in her chart, and she has remained grounded during her entire career. Her fifth house comes into play, too, but I have to go. I'm getting ready to go out.

She's charismatic, seems to be universally loved, and has helped children all over the country. I don’t know why you’re picking at my choices. Nobody needs to tell me who I find charismatic.

Her charisma transcends party lines.

http://www.rockhall.com/inductees/dolly-parton
With her prodigious songwriting talent, vocal and instrumental prowess, charisma, and trademark style, Dolly Parton has achieved immense global success as a musician and blazed a trail for generations of artists to come. In a career spanning six decades, she has recorded more than 50 studio albums and, by her own estimation, written nearly 3,000 songs.

Charisma = compelling attractiveness or charm that can inspire devotion in others.
"she enchanted guests with her charisma"

http://faroutmagazine.co.uk/robin-williams-working-with-al-pacino/

quote:
Sorely missed eight years after his passing, Robin Williams was the pinnacle of charisma and star power. His untouchable improvisation and stage presence in both stand-up and films has earned him the title of one of the greatest comedians of all time. With his comedy career spanning five decades, Williams began as a stand-up in San Francisco during the 1970s and eventually graduated to film.

Williams is thought of as a favourite uncle figure through his comedic performances. His most beloved roles include the eccentric Genie in Aladdin, a committed father in Mrs Doubtfire, and a grown-up Peter Pan in Hook. He also showed skill in easily transitioning to more dramatic roles, such as a stalker in One Hour Photo and a therapist in Good Will Hunting. Famously, his performance as John Keating in Dead Poets Society gave film culture one of its most powerful emotional scenes in “O captain, my captain”.

There are numerous stories of Williams’ unique humour and compassion during his eventful life and career. There’s the time he cheered up Christopher Reeves following his accident by dressing up as a doctor. There’s also the time he spoke to a child fan who was too shy to approach him through a hand-made puppet at a cafe. Notably, even Spielberg would call him during filming breaks of Schindler’s List to cheer the cast up.

Actors and directors the Good Morning Vietnam star worked alongside have shared heartwarming or hilarious stories about their time with Williams.

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/carrie-fisher-robin-williams-he-725201/

quote:
Even off-set, Fisher said she was blown away by his charisma and the way in which he absorbed his surroundings. “Robin had rampant empathy,” explained Fisher, who is currently on location reprising her role as Leia in J.J. Abrams‘ Star Wars: Episode VII. “Everything would end up on his grid. He’d walk in a room, and all the energy there would impact him. He was the opposite of selfish. Anything would hurt him. Or … impact him somehow.”

http://ew.com/article/2014/08/11/16-essential-robin-williams-moments-outside-of-tv-and-film/

“Robin Williams never just relegated himself to his official film and television work and, especially recently, spoiled audiences with his delightful, exuberant charisma in a variety of venues.”

for me charismatic must have a strong accurate philosophical/knowledgeable worldview of life and its meaning.

So Jupiter is important for the knowledge philosophical part.. Mars,Saturn,Pluto (the malefics) to go through the hardships of life and nourish Jupiter with hard gained knowledge and experiences.
Sun encompasses all of above and make it shine.
This is how I see charisma.

Charisma's root word comes from karitas which means charity (and to also be loved). Charisma has to do with being charitable/generous of spirit so much so that others can't help but enjoy your warmth and presence.
