Do any astrologers consider a planet that only makes an aspect with something like the ASC, IC, or MC (basically, no other planets) unaspected?I have Virgo moon in the 9th house conjunct MC 0.30 degrees. However, I relate strongly to the general interpretation of unaspected moon. Being overtaken by very intense waves of emotion that last a long time (and cause self-isolation), extreme trouble outwardly expressing emotions (though I know this can also relate to Virgo moon), sense of profound disconnection from other people, emotional disconnect from or not feeling "nurtured" by parents especially the mother figure, etc. etc. There aren't really any other features in my chart that explain most of these issues. Anyways, TL;DR, is a planet considered aspected or unaspected if its only aspect is with the MC?

Have you also checked aspects by declination? If there are declination aspects I.e parallel or contra-parallel then the Moon may not truly be unaspected. Does your Moon make any minor aspects like quincunx or semisquares also? It would be worth a look.IP: Logged |

Hi sleepthan, according to the course I did with psychological astrologer Karen Hamaker-Zondag, you seem to have an unaspected Moon (to be sure, I need to see your birth chart). In this branch of astrology, ASC and MC are only considered "outlets" in the birth chart and don't bring in any new "energy" into the mix. So if your Moon aspects only ASC or MC, this Moon energy is not affected by any other energy. This means it either comes out very strong (undiluted) or it has trouble expressing (it can feel unconnected to other parts of your personality). It's often very visible for other people, while you struggle to see that part of yourself. This seems to reflect your own experiences. It's not just a challenge, it's also a talent. And it's often linked to generational issues. Especially as an unexpressed talent of parents or grandparents. Transits to unaspected planets are usually times when you become more aware of this part of your personality and can bring great learning experiences into developing this talent. I can recommend this book: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1078988.The_Yod_Book As far as I'm aware, parallels or contra-parallels are not part of determining wether a planet is "unaspected" within psychological astrology. I have an unaspected planet parallel another planet in my own birth chart. And in my personal experience, I definitely recognize the characteristics of it being unaspected, this isn't changed by the parallel. NB: aspects to take into account are conjunction, opposition, trine, square, sextile and quincunx/inconjunct. You need to be mindful of the orbs. For Moon: conjunction, opposition, trine, square = 8 degrees, sextiles = 6 degrees and quincunx/inconjunct = 3.5 degrees. IP: Logged |

@sleepthan, I just wanted to add that if you have a fire sign Sun that might also increase difficulty connecting with your Virgo Moon. Because fire is very different from earth. And the Sun is the "conscious" part of our self, it's the way we want (and need) to "shine" in this world.IP: Logged | |
