As a theatrical historian and chamber astrologer, I've been so intrigued by actors who've been recorded as having exceptional talent, power, and skill on the stage and screen--skill that leaves description bordering into other art forms, comparing them to Michelangelo or to the great Poets. However, many of the pop astrological interpretations and even with the Gauqelin sectors have left broad strokes and not specifics as to what placements, aspects, or significations these actors had beyond simply significations for prominence in the sense of fame and fortune from their career. So, I compiled a list of actors who were specifically called "The Greatest Actors of Their Time", throughout history; those who were well known well into our present time and those who are not household names or did not have had as much attention but were deemed this by their colleagues and historians. I compared the charts and found some interesting consistencies. I don't know what these might indicate, as far as how these placements and aspects might manifest as someone being prolific and genius in dramatic art, which I would love the help of the community. This is simply a list (and an not exhaustive one) of my observations.

“Greatest of their Time” Actors
(Ira Aldridge, Vanessa Redgrave, Eleonora Duse, Charles Laughton, Josef Kainz, Alessandro Moissi, Pavel Mochalov, Polina Strepetova, Laurette Taylor, Marlon Brando, Meryl Streep, John Hurt, Kim Stanley, Anthony Hopkins, Laurence Olivier, Canada Lee, Rose McClendon, David Garrick, Viola Davis, Denzel Washington, Viola Davis, Daniel Day Lewis)
* Sun Square Mars***
* Leo Rising***
* Venus square Node***
* Mars-Lilith aspect and Sun sq (Op) Lilith;More prominent in Actresses***
* Moon-Chiron aspect; more prominent in Actors***
* Mars-Mercury ascpect***(Mars square Mercury)
* Virgo/Scorpio Moon
* Uranus-Sun; placed in 10H
* Ruler of the 8th, 10th or 11th in 2nd House
* Earth Mars, 1 Water, Air, Fire
* Moon-Jupiter aspect
* Vertex in 5th
* Moon/Uranus midpoint
* Jupiter/MC midpoint

Would love to know any interpretations regarding these...once again, this is not having to do with the prominence in terms of attention and opportunity, although I'm sure that plays a role in one's access to opportunities for development. However, I'm more interested in skill and impact on the audience/public.

5th house seems to be important imo in terms of popularity.

Marlon Brando(considered the "Goat") has Sun/Moon/Chi and Mercury in 5th.They also said that he liked to improvise.I see that as a possibility since Mercury is in the 5th and Mercury likes "going with the flow" a lot.

But then his Saturn Sco opp Mercury brings control to that improv. A cool presence and purposeful intent that is necessary in dramatic work( which was his speciality).

Its also interesting to me that his most famous rile was "The Godfather" when he has Saturn(paternal) in Sco(underworld) pop to his Mercury in 5th. I found that poetic.

Matthew Perry("Chandler" in Friends) stole the scene a lot from his castmates by being the one who seemed to be most like his character and could improvise on the spot.

Mars in Sag (the clown)in 5th ,suggests a preference for physical humour. And this was his MO. Many of the scenes in that series involved him being in some awkward position physically OR dancing in an offbeat way.

Though one would not say that he is not a contender for the title of "GOAT". I see that 5th house Mars presence as very important in terms of his overall popularity in the series.

Another one that liked doing physical comedy? Charlie Chaplin. He has Mercury in 5th Aries opp Uranus (lots of nervous energy).

Richard Pryor has 5th house ruler(Moon) in the 11th house(popular). But in his chart, Jup and Sat are conj(thereby suggesting that 10th and 11th are combined in effect)

I also noticed that Saturn/Jup opp Mars/Ven and Mercury is opp Uranus. So this would explain his tendency to use profanity in his stints. And also in the 2nd instance, why he would come across do jittery and nervous.

Though not an actor, he was known for his standup comic routine and is considered the GOAT in that field.

Eddie Murphy(legend to me) has Asc in Cap with 5th hpise Tau. Ruler of the 5th house (Venus) is conj Mars(ruler of his Mc). So he was going to make play(5th) his career( 10th).

He does share some liking for nervousness as Richard. Ruler of his Asc(Sat) conj Ura/Nep opp Mercy. And like Richard, he was also a standup comedian who did well because of his love for phsyical comedy (Ven rules 5th and conj Mars) .

Katherine Hepburn(also considered one of the greats) had Asc ruler (Mars) conj Ura. This would explain the nervous twitch she used to have when she spoke in interviews. And how her voice would sound jittery and unsettled.

But her dramatic skill came from Saturn in Pisces in house 5. This is a sort of "shape shifter" position that can have the individual be able to assume whatever identity the role was.

However, i suspect Katherine had difficulty getting out of character or distinguishing who she is v.s the character she plays.

Water Saturn in 5th tends to "concretize" (Sat)play(5th). It becomes so real, it is adopted as their "reality".

And this was confirmed in the film "The Aviator" when Leo Dicaprio(Howard Hughes) kept on telling Cate Blanchett(Katherine Hepburn) to "stop acting" .

She was talking about their relationship and asserting that she was leaving him. But was 'in character' and not herself.

Coming to modern times, Denzel Washington has Moon in the 5th house- always the dramatic and emotionally charged performances.

And notice that Moon rules his Mc(Cancer)? So those performances in his movies are a big part of his reputation.

Unfortunately, not many black actors have their birth times recorded or available online on these sites.

So it's really hard to use the same theory on many who are excellent performers- as time of birth is not available to delineate houses.

Halle Berry is "iffy" to a lot of people. They think she is just a pretty face with minimal talent.But I disagree.

She was placed in a tricky position: too black to be sold as a romantic lead and be opposite Hollywood leading men like Sandra, Julia or Meg for the 90's RomCom era.

But also not black enough to be "hood" like Jada Pinkett or Nia Long. She was always the girl "in between".

She has Plu/Ura in 5th house. And this also makes sense. As the presence of these two distant planets in her 5th house, make her difficult to relate to on one hand in a personal way.

But also profoundly enough , they are also planets one needs to break boundaries between racial divisions in that field. As she became the 1st black female to win "Best Actress".

Uranus is a boundary breaker. And with Plu also there, it upsets the order. Halle Berry may not be considered a skillful dramatic actress.

Infact with her Venus opp Mc, her beauty sort of overshadows the reputation she has as a serious actress. And I think that is what limits her.

Notice also that Saturn(ruler of her Mc) is widely opposing both Ura/Plu in 5th? Her reputation(Sat) conflicts with her creative application of her talent (Ura/Plu).

She is hard to judge as good or bad. She is very distant(Ura) and seems too contained in her roles(Plu) to be personally effective to her audience.

And i think that this could be the problem one can have with distant planets in the 5th house. This especially Neptune and Uranus.

We(as the audience) cant reach the performer. They are either too deep or too controlled (not deep enough) to relate to. Moreso when one only has that planet there and no other personal planets in the 5th.

I actually think Leo Dicaprio is fantastic. But was suprised to find 0 planets in the 5th.

The ruler of the 5th(Uranus) is in house 1 however and conj natal Mercury.And even the traditional ruler Sat(in Cancer) is in his 10th house.

So play(5th) is very much a part of his reputation(10th). Besides his extensive work in movies as actor and producer, he is also known for being the type who doesn't want to settle down.

Brad Pitt is to me HORRIBLE. But people love him,🤷🏿. He has Ruler of his Asc(Jup) in house 5. And that Ura/Plu mix in there in his 10th house of reputation- gives off the aura of a distant and "cool" figure.

Wonderful analysis. Any input on what the manifestations of the asterisked placements/aspects on the list might indicate? Of course, can see how the 5th house would influence actors but am very intrigued how a MAJORITY of actors who've been known to have outstanding skill and "genius", popularity aside, have a Sun Square Mars specifically, as well as the others asterisked, I found in a majority of charts. Can't quite delineate what that might indicate though!

Moon square Chiron makes one feel things so deep and creates a constant yearning for some emotional resolution that is hard to come by. Acting or other form of art helps transform that pain but I think that the aspect itself also helps the actor feel the characters deeply.

Venus in aspect to nodes - charm and beauty as a part of the life path?

I don’t know about Sun square Mars - it signifies powerful drive but I don’t think that’s unique to actors.

Gotcha. Yeah, it was surprising to me as well! I couldn't figure out what the connection was to that either but that specific aspect came up in quite a few charts...interesting...
