Recently I was told by an astrologer that Uranus is not actually the ruler of my chart (Aquarius rising) and that Saturn actually is. This was extremely surprising to me. Also it kind of worried me because actually Saturn is the most afflicted planet in my chart. It’s in the 1st house opposite my mars.
Versus Uranus is in my 12th house conjunct Neptune, Jupiter, and the moon with no afflictions. So that is loads different from my ruler being in Saturn.

Most astrologers I’ve seen on other astrology forums seem to favor traditional rulers. So what do you guys think? What do you like to use?
I’m not sure which one I should use. Uranus as my chart ruler resonated a lot because of the house placements and conjunctions, but I can’t say I’m really sure what my chart ruler in Saturn indicates. If anyone could tell me what it means I’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks (:

Saturn is in Aries in the 1st house opposite my mars in Libra in the 7th house conjunct my north node

I use both chart rulers. Perhaps because I am Pisces rising and also under dual rulership.

My personal observation on Aquarius rising and also people with planets in Aquarius, is that when the native is young or younger, Uranus (the more modern ruler) may predominate as the ruling planet.

But as the person gets old or older, Saturn (the ancient ruler) may then assert its dominance more.

I have seen so many Aquarius rising people or people with planets in Aquarius being rebellious in their youth, only to join the establishment when they mature or get old.

(Continued)

I am going to give 3 notable examples to prove my point:

=-=-= Ronald Reagan: Aquarius Sun. Rebel in his youth, matured into a very pro-establishment statesman.

=-=-= Barack Obama: Aquarius rising. Rebel in his youth, also matured into a pro-establishment statesman.

=-=-= David Bowie: Aquarius rising. Rebel persona in youth, matured into a life long marriage and family life.

I think so too. As someone with dominant Aquarius energy. The urge to rebel was almost unbearable in youth. With age, structure becomes extremely important. Appreciation for tradition and novelty. Not rigid like Capricorn, more like mastering the structure to rebel within it
