It's said that Jupiter in the 7th house generally brings an expansive, optimistic, and often lucky energy to partnerships. However what I feel is that there are power struggle issues with it. Is it Jupiter or some other planet that can "cause" this?

Power struggles are usually Mars/Pluto in my experience.

Power struggles happen when you try to assert yourself and then the other person counters that with their assertion. This leads to a back/forth without any compromise.

Couples can go through this where the one half is wanting kids to sleep early. And the other doesn't mind if they don't schedule their day.

So one says "got to bed" . And the other says "stay". When the kids hear this conflict between them, they are in the throes of a power struggle. This especially when neither party wants to budge an inch.

Jupiter in 7th when aspecting Pluto/Mars can bring up those issues within the partnership though. Look to where you Pluto/ Mars is, any aspects triggering that?

Another possibility is if the 3rd house is ignited.

Thanks for responding. I didn't find any conflicting Mars or Pluto directly, but one thing I found when checking the synastry chart after your reply is that my Pluto in the 6th is opposed to his Jupiter in the 12th. Not in the 7th house of relationships, though.

I don't think of Jupiter in 7th as a power struggle marker. However:

TRANSITS: Any natal planet will experience power struggles at some point during the native's life when transits of other planets such as Pluto, Mars and Saturn, make hard aspects to that natal planet.

NATAL: If natally Jupiter is in hard aspects to Mars, Saturn and Pluto, there will be power struggles.

But in and out or itself, I don't see Jupiter in any house as a power struggle factor.
